kudos to places which offer free parking to bikers. i will definitely patronise.

kudos to places which charge bikers on a "per entry" basis. thats why i dont even think twice about going to jurong point to shop. at least i'm still allowed to enter their premises.

screw places which BAN bikers. dont want my business? fine. u shall not get it. i'm intending to watch a midnight movie later. oh, west mall bans bikers. ok. i will be spending my $20 at jurong point instead.

Yea man, that's the spirit! To those places like northpoint that don't allow bikes in, i rather eat/ watch movie at yishun10 GV!

man.. i should have consulted this guide before heading down the amk hub yesterday..

went there for a lunch.. given to the fact that im a slow eater.. rofl.. i ended up paying $3.40 for parking.. damn expensive!

How come so ex??? It's more ex than normal car parking leh.. :faint:

I think that lady Gwen is only a senior customer service officer, should try to write email to the general manager of Vivocity. If no respond, we write to the big shot of Mapletree. CEO etc....

so many times i go, i only encounter security once.

i ask him "bike parking?" as i point up the carpark, he nodded and i just ride up.

however i dont see bikes inside. no bike lots too.

maybe i was lucky.

As updated above, Sembawang Shopping Center is free parking for ALL vehicles until 28 Feb 2009. (Opening promotion)

There are proper bike lots marked in the carpark, but they are quite narrow. Bikes with panniers will find it to be a tight squeeze.

The gantry is short, so bikes can squeeze through. High likelihood of continued free parking for bikes even after the opening promotion is over.

Stay tuned for more updates after CNY.

Thanks hngsterVtec! I love your digging skills=p

This is what I finally replied to Ms Gwen Chong, cc-ing all these ppl on top. Let's wait for the answer.

Hi Ms Chong,

You have deliberately ignored my query why motorcyclists are charged at a higher rate than cars after 6pm where we take up 1/4 of a normal car lot. Furthermore, with this higher charges, we are not given proper lots as cars do. For example, we have to make do with the lots your management has painted on the previous bike parking areas under the slope turning into the carpark at B2.

Can you provide me with the statistics that motorcyclists who have not been able to find a parking lot previously are now appreciative of it? Based on the number of times I've visited VivoCity during lunch and after office hours since 06, I've never been unable to find parking space. Thus, I can say I am not appreciative of ridiculous charges slapped onto me. All I see and hear from bikers either in the bike forums or during meet ups are complaints about the unfair charges. We are so UNAPPRECIATIVE of the charges that majority of us have decided to boycott VivoCity for shopping since your mall does not appreciate our kind.

If your current system is able to read bikes IU and deduct parking charges, why can't it revert and provide rebates like it did for cars?

Overall, your explanations well as the actions of Vivo Management have shown me that you are discriminating against bikers. For your information, I've boycotted VivoCity for my Christmas shopping and relocated my end of year dinners to other shopping malls. I shall continue to do so for my Chinese New Year Shopping. Likewise, a lot of fellow bikers feel the same way as I do.

Regards

Pipika!

wah so expensive? I thought Winsland house is FOC? i happened to stop inside for a short one like 15mins or so.. din pay anything leh.. theres a gap for bikes to go thru de mah.. isnt it?

Sorry. I think maybe that's the rates for cars. I called up and they told me that's the rate when I asked if there is bike parking and the parking charges. I even asked how come so expensive when I heard it. When I reach there, I noticed there is a gap as you mentioned. Hmm... I wonder if its free and they f up and told me wrongly. Anyway I didn't park there that day.

Is the Orchard Hotel and Orchard Parade Hotel carparks open to public bikes? ie. You can park there and go around Orchard? I'm planning to enrol in a course at Delfi Orchard, so trying to look for a parking space.

That's what happened previously when Vivocity opened without parking for motorcycles. Many sent in the same letter to the Mapletree Corp Comm and within weeks Vivocity organised parking for motorcycles. Their mistake was to make it free.
