John Hopkins is to fly home to the U.S. to recuperate after suffering ankle and tibia fractures in a high-speed qualifying crash at the A-Style TT Assen on Friday afternoon.

John Hopkins´ difficult debut season with Kawasaki took a decided turn for the worse on Friday in the Netherlands when the Anglo-American lowsided his Ninja ZX-RR at high-speed in qualifying at the Ramshoek corner, smashing into the advertising hoarding and tyre wall.

Loris Capirossi, ruled out of the A-Style TT Assen after a crash and forearm injury in Thursday´s second practice session, was in attendance but playing no further part in proceedings, whilst Donington stand-in Ben Spies had politely declined a second opportunity due to a lack of available track time and the unpredictability of the weather. Thus, the team were down to just Chris Vermeulen in the garage at what is a key race for their main sponsor.

Capirossi is aiming to return to competition at the German round of the MotoGP World Championship in two weeks time, after undergoing immediate surgery in the Clinica Mobile.

Anyone have Hopkin crash video

Posted

Not the first time hopkins crahed this year. Guess the ninja really lives up to its name of being a monster to handle. No wonder monster energy is its current sponsor! Maybe insane power is pointless if the rider cannot handle and control it.

Pedrosa might just win the title Hayden style... just by being constantly on the podium. I hope Stoner can do something about it. Would prefer to see a winning champion.

As for Rossi, he should consider going to Ducati to replace Melandri.

Then we really see Rossi vs. Stoner.

yeah bro its time for rossi to consider ducati. melandri can't seems to get along with ducati due to great power of awesomeness n attractiveness. :D

rossi has got race start problem. he cant seem to get a gd position during launch off for every race. and cause pedrosa or stoner to break away fast. if he could counter this issue i believe there is high chance of him winning.

not necessarily... rossi's strength is that he has multiple lines, that's why he is good at overtaking. but so is Stoner. and both have high mental strength.

so many times Rossi try to give Stoner mental breakdown last year by pushing him hard, he just keeps on going. And it's so much easier to make mistakes on a faster bike, but Stoner kept his cool.

stoner at this stage was a resemblance of rossi when he was riding the Repsol machine - trying to beat the clock instead of riders...

i think rossi did quite a good start but problem is his yamaha is still lacking speed... the other bikes only swarmed him into turn 1 and not before. i don't think the others outbrake him, just that their bikes' sprint speed off the grid is much faster.

Why should Rossi go to Ducati? That would make them be on the same team..Then the races won't be as much fun..o_O

I have tried to see things from your point of view..But no matter how hard I try..Or what I do..I just can't get my head that far up my butt..

Rossi loves wining the championship on an 'underdog' bike.

Actually all got to understand, that its not because the yammy sucked on power/ topspeed. But because their engineers believe in making a bike which is better/ easier to ride, as opposed to outright bhp/ speeds. This route has been their design credo for a couple of years now..
