[Technical] Possible Solutions to your Phantom's Problem

Spark plug usually around 10000km ? for me every 2 times engine oil, I'll get plugs changed =X kiasuism.

 

And anyway, need some advice and help if possible...

 

Today, yet again, I supposed some dudes on the road did some reckless lane changing again, causing some cars infront of me to all e-brake, and the domino effect end up passing over to me.

Kiss a car backside again .. (like 2 times in 2 weeks man!)

Claim or not, that's another issue...

 

After the collision, I don't know why but immediately after riding, there seemed to be some power cut and I couldnt accelerate much. The feeling is like when you got a punctured tire. The rev is loud but the speed is not there.

 

I stopped at the road side, and checked if my front fender was hugging my tires or not, and check tire air pressure as well. Everything seemed fine and soon after I ride, nothing happens.

 

But yet again, when I was travelling back at night, the same thing happen to my bike again.

 

I could smell something like burned rubber / plastic but I can't guarentee that it's coming from my bike.

 

May I know if anybody have any idea roughly what's with my bike ? Think I gonna stop riding for these few days .. on my next off day, will sent it to check ..

 

 

So freaking sad .. what an april fool day . If the repair is going to be the extend of overhaul and gonna cost me much, I guess I'll just scrape this and go for another bike .. Seems like we're not meant to be together =x

denso iridium $20 a pcs minimum, can last 80000km no prob...

 

Ngk G power $6 a pcs can last minimum 50000km no prob, so take your pick, anyway NSK G Power has got same construction as a iridium plug, only diff is one of the electrode is palladium nickel and the other is platinum, so if u ask me for cost effectiveness, my ans is there, as getting a full blown iridium plug is plain waste of money seriously, because there is no obvious performance gain, wat u get is only 1-3% gain of overall output, so phantom only 19hp no obvious gain there...

Hey bro, glad you are alright.

 

Burning rubber? See if your front wheel can spin freely? or push normally? Could be a jammed braked caliper or brake pads, hence when you accelerate, it's like an applied brakes effect.

 

While you're at it, check both front and rear brakes...

Yay. now I get it .. my front fender screw hole got a little widen during my collision .. that's why when I ride (usually at high cruising speed.. ) , the wind managed to bring my fender downwards and hence rubbing on my wheel . Because I'm using shadow's fender, so the visual doesnt seemed so obvious =X That finally explains the burning smell + speed reduction. Feel so dumb now =X

 

Now taken out my fender .. Cant ride for the moment .. or do without getting caught LOL!

 

Now the stupid smell still lingers in my mind *vomit*

During downshifting of gear.... I have difficulty kicking into gear 1.

check engine oil is it due to change, if not adjust freeplay of clutch cable...best is let someone help u with the adjustment, need help lemme know see how i can help u out...

Actually just came back from servicing to solve the first problem above.

However the problem got worst as now the same thing is happening when downing gear to second gear.

 

Have to go back to the bike shop tmr and hopes the problem can be finally rectified

1. Check for wear and tear or bended gear shift lever connecting rod, and clutch free play. ( Most likely)

2. EO level. ( level too high)

3. Clutch Plate (most unlikely)

My phantom is having problems with shifting gears when it is cold i can shift gears perfectly fine up to 6th gear and back to 1st again but after running awhile if i stop at the lights on 4th or 5th gear i have a problem shifting back to 1st gear have to release clucth a lil bit after everytime i down a gear so i can proceed to down the gear another time. anyone knows what may be the problem? thanks.

maybe you clutched in too much... try keeping at quarter or half clutch and change gears?

My left signal light fail to blink. When I switch on the left signal light, the left front signal light struck to on and the left rear signal light is off.

Perfectly normal. and try to be in gear 1 when u stop.

Change ur rear left signal bulb.

 

Rear left bulb blown. Change it and it will be all right.

I used to go planet, but I have recently been trying out HL Cycle at Autobay@Ubi and I am quite happy with them. Uncle Chong is great, but planet is always busy and you have to wait a lot. At HL Cycle, they have pretty honest chaps and prices are affordable and they seem to give good advise as to what needs changing and what doesn't. Also, I like their snow wash... my bike actually rusts less easily after this wash.

secret password and timing.

 

go early, between 9-11. these are the times when planet would have lesser bikes to deal with.

 

i went there at 11, had to change my brake pump and some wiring issues. all done withnin 1 hour.

 

make friend also la, the mechs know me, so give me priority. hahahahaha.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

I just took over my phantom on sat.. After riding around the whole day, dat night, bike cannot even turn on liao. ie. turn key to on, not even the neutral light came on..

 

I tot battery if gonna die, at least got signs like difficult to start at first. but b4 that, everything was normal.

Issit just the battery, or could be something else(like IU) draining the batt totally while it was off? =/

most probably he battery unable to hold charge ...over the night..

try push start....can start confirm elecricals okay.. ..if it canno start ..

but could be a problem with dirty plugs,filter, petrol..get all these check and clean/change...if neccessary.

i love my ezzyoiler

where chain cleaning is history...
