Hi. I'm a Noob FZ6 Rider. So some noob questions to ask. 1) How many km u all ride before changing engine oil and spark plugs. 2) Is there any need to replace the OEM coolant? if need, how often? 3) Does anyone here wash radiator? Both the inside and outside parts. Cuz I always ride in sandy areas, the bottom part of my radiator very dusty looking. Scared will cause radiator to spoilt. Will really appreciate all answers and suggestions on how to maintain and take care of my FZ6 to keep my baby running for years and years. Thanks to all in advance!

 

For full synthetic oil, change oil every 5000km.For semi-synthetic oil, change oil every 3000 to 4000km.Best to use full synthetic oil due to our extreme hot temperature and better cold start protection that semi-synthetic oil. Price diffferent is only a few dollars a bottle for piece of mind.

For normal spark plugs, change every 10,000km. For iridium plugs, 15,000 to 20,000km.

Best to change your coolant and brake fluid every year once. Can change to Maxima cool-aide will do. Flushing and top up new coolant at Bikeworkz only $20/-.

Best part, Bikeworkz will top up extra coolant FOC if one bottle of coolant is not enough for your bike.

Just have to wash your bike more often and maybe fix a radiator guard to safe guard your radiator. Cheers.

I find that when riding at 100-110km/hr on my 05 FZ1. Im having more vibrations. travelling at 80-90km/hr or 120km/hr I feel much smoother. Is it common? I dun feel it on my FZ6 last time.

 

FZ1 Gen 1 or Gen 2 are using R1 engines. The engine itself need to be very compact and small for sportbike.It also does have counter-balance shafts in the engine to eliminate the vibration.So at certain rpm, there will be some vibration coming into your handlebars.

Fix a heavy-weight barend and OEM BMW grips helps a lot to reduce the vibration.

Lastly, remember to change your oil filter regularly too. Every alternate oil change, change the oil filter.

Did a ride up to Fraser's Hill on my stock FZ6S2 recently. Travelled in comfort with power to spare. Great bike!

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

No bro ... too tiring to do Fraser's in 1 day .. left on Wed and returned on Friday. The only luggage I had was in my backpack ...

The next time i wont use the backpack again ... can be tiring ... will tie down a bag to the seat instead ... but first i need to find the right bag and a way to tie it down securely w/out any damage ...

hi guys, juz now i discovered my fz1 temp increase to 118 degrees c.. the temp digits keep blinking & indication light on. r u guys xperience it b4? is it norm dat the temp increase faster..
