HI guys.......wanna share with you this useful tips especially for new bikes,

As you know that during running in the pistons and cyclinder is getting to know each other and during that moment, fine metal particles that is a size of microscopic molecules tends to falls off during the running in period. The only thing that traps this particles is through the oil filter, but do you know that not all are really trapped in it. Some of this particles tends to escape back together with the engine oil back to the main component of the engine

This might cause severe damage in long run to the engine. The reason for the magnet is to trap this fine metal particles so that what suppose to remain there should remain.. The magnet should be attach to the oil filter can but during EO change don"t forget to remove it from the filter in the draining pan. Re-attach it back when new oil filter is fix..Try it guys......its very useful..............Magnet can be purchase at Hardware shops:thumb:

there are already magnetic oil drain screw available, works the same as wat u mentioned above

Yup its true, but hopes this idea will traps the particle more efficently.

I use Neodymium magnets, from hard disk... Abit complicated to take apart a harddisk if u dont know... Neodymium magnets very very strong, put one on top of a table 1 1/2 inch thick still can attract the other one underneath.. put on both side of palm still stick, stick 2 Neodymium magnets together and i tink u need a screwdriver to pry them apart.. I use 4 on my oilf filter and 2 on each side of my bike frame, to trigger traffic lights.. Cos hate when i'm all alone at a junction and lights dont turn green, not all places.. but the places i ride on the way to work got 2 traffic lights very stubborn so no choice...

Read more on why put magnet on filter : http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html

Btw, large size Neodymium magnets are dangerous... Harddsik one still ok, but keep it away from kids.. Larger ones can break bones or cause serious injury...

do you mean INduce? the answer is yes. the black stripes forming a square on the road detect a change in magnetic field over it and thus senses a vehicle at the junction which in turn sends a signal to the controller to change the lights. as bikes are smaller in size, some sensors cannot detect such a minute variance in the magnetic field. hence the magnets to make your vehicle more sensitive to the sensors. cheers.

good info .. and thanks for sharing.. especially this part..

The importance of neodynium magnets

I thought it worth pointing out here what a potential disaster awaits the home tinkerer if you just grab any old magnet and stick it on the outside of your oil filter. Your common or garden ferrous magnet, like those horrible souvenir magnets stuck to your fridge (you know you've got some) are usually made from iron, and thus have a limited life span which in some cases can be as short as 6 or 12 months. During this time they progressively lose thier power. Not enough for that hideous magnetic photo frame to drop off the fridge, but enough to be a problem if it was stuck to your oil filter. Why's that then? Well, come the end of the filters life, just as the magnet is weakening and the collection of metal particles is at it's highest, one good jolt and it could dislodge, and a large collection of metal shavings and filings could detach from the inside of the filter and find its way back into your engine all in one go. That would be bad. So as much as you might like the magnetic photo of granny and the giraffe from Whipsnade zoo to be stuck in a filthy oily place on your car, don't do it.

actually i got quite a few spares in office, cos during my free time in office i open up all the dead hardisk, take out the magnet. Keep the disc platter for company security reason and dispose the harddisk external case ... But....... but... i very very LAZY to arrange meet up, cos my work schedule very haywire sometimes.. hehehehhe... alternatively u guys can go Sim Lim Tower, not sim lim square, go to basement, right at the corner near the back exit/entrance staircase there is one shop sells lots of LED... The shop got Neo magnets too... best of all they open on sundays!!
