And one more thing .... TS, please don't talk about paying taxes and that's like paying them to do their work... Then what happen to the kids playing at the playground ? If they got molested, you expect the police not to react cos they're not paying taxes ?

Actually, they could stonewall you by ensuring that they do everything by the book and thus ensuring that you either don't get what you want or that you get it slowly. Same with any other service provider.

The easiest way to get things done is often not by picking a fight at the first instance.

And i'd like to add this as a reminder to the TS that if he's not happy, he can bring you and your motorcycle in ... 24 hours, no joke .. :goodluck:

There was once my bike broke down and cannot start parked in the multi storey carpark. I was only 2B the other time. So no skill have to sit on the bike and paddle to the outdoor car park so the tow truck can tow it. Then when i was on my bike and paddling. There is this patrol car NPP. He also shouted at me. "Where your helmet!".... he was in the car. Then i shout back. " You got see me on my engine??? I cannot paddle to outside meh???" Then he no choice but to let me go. Ha lucky.

I didnt even say oh sorry. I just shout back. I mean if you want a good answer or a sorry then ask for it before shouting at ppl. You are not my parents. You are just a civil servant...

than that olso we can complaint against him, on wat grounds, he want to bring TS, back, I'm not his friend, i dun even know him.... but this is not the way, if TS is being detain without a valid reason then, for me i get a lawyer to sue not SPF but the POLICEMAN. doing his work must not get Emotional... Firm doesn't mean , need to shout or Raise Voice..we are civilised people not hooligan. Can always do it in a polite way...remember "a pen is mightier than the sword".

Sorry to hijack this thread or so to speak but i had this one similar experience with a Junior Officer from SPF. Very ya-ya or what we say in NS terms, sibei on !

Three of my friends and i were sitting at my void deck after a long night at a club. It was like 5-6 am or something. Can't remember cos its quite long ago but i knew it was still dark. I noticed a patrol car trying to park and because i was parking on a kerb (no more parking slots), intuitively i got up and wanted to move my bike. As I was standing, i heard someone shouting, "Oi! where are you going?".

I turned and saw this SSG in his 40s walking towards me so i stopped, and he shouted at me, "What did you throw away?". Surprised, i said "Nothing, i was only trying to move my bike from its current location". He made an accusation without even any proof. I was damn furious by the fact that he totally misinterprate my actions. I certainly was damn tired after clubbing but i certainly wasn't looking like a junkie... He asked me to show the contents of my pockets but because i don't have DRUGS, he said, "ok". Now my heart was bursting with anger but i told myself, nevermind. Give him face... his CPL was looking... He then talked on his radio set and signaled for his CPL to take over and take our particulars. I was bemused by the fact that he didn't have the decency to even apologise after not even finding anything in the proximity.

This incident certainly has a lasting impression on myself when i look at police officers. I no longer respect them as i have before and that stays as it is...I was very much furious by the fact that i was embarassed in front of my friends then being accused. I then believed that the police just lacks the ability in looking for really good people to join the force. Or is the force just full of fools who have no other choice but to sign on. I certainly think that its unfair for the rest who signed on and have a slight advantage than this guy, which is to have a working brain.

Moral of the story is that there's no use arguing or complaining against these type of people. Let karma take its course. Why get all tensed up ? If he think he big F**K then so be it...Cos if he really big F**K then he shouldn't be patrolling, but staying in the office with pips on his shoulders. People got eyes to observe who the A hole is .. Cheers !

sorry to hear the story bro... but i think its true wat u said above. :thumb:

yup, detain the bike can... for the purpose of sending it for inspection... if they are not happy...

but detain/arrested for without a valid reason??? it makes no sense.... wat he want to detain U for, suspicion of having consumed drugs?, being violent?, un lawful assembly? they are sometimes NUTS.. do work with their emotional controlling them.

Its quite unfortunate to hear the TS being 'approached' that way by our men in blue. I was approached by one rude TP last time and he was practically shouting at me but i just kept quiet because i didnt want to antagonise him.

To be honest, the TS shouldnt have parked illegally, but thats a given. The 'attitude' the officer could be to release his tension or stress over the case. He could have been scolded by other members of the public due to the obstruction of the road prior to confronting the TS.

Being an officer is not an easy job, im sure those who've been through it will atest to that.Hearing from 2nd hand sources, some of the things the members of the public do to them is deplorable and downright disrespectful. They are there to serve, but they are not servants. Treat them as though how you would like to be treated.

There are prone to be bad apples around. So, just take them to task by lodging a formal complaint. When it starts to hurt them the most i.e forfeit of bonus, hentak kaki, they will wake up and smell the coffee.

Dont lose your faith with them. They've served us well. Im not one of them though :)

i somehow agreed to ur 1st point...bt,he shud have atleast be abit more polite la..not straight away come a throw tantrum at me wat...i'm not the only bike there wat...then why must i take the scolding for the rest too...??rite or not.???den i got fine somemore...

scolding + fine = 1 sad guy riding his gilera home....:(

to ur 2nd point, as i said earlier in my post, its better to make ppl respect u rather then scared of u rite..??

That i agree. You were at the wrong place at the wrong time bro, he might have seen you first and conveniently sought you as his own venting outlet.

Yup,the police almost always makes the first move in a conversation with the members of the public,so they are expected to be respectful and tactful. Sometimes respect and fear are used interchangeably, simply because the officers need to present themselves as symbols of peace and respect, but not superiority or misplace the confidence of the public. Its just that sometimes the public feels that they are victimised or harrassed by them, and therefore respond with disdain. They are there to do a job, just like any other person.

So i'd recommend when faced with such officers, just say that you would like to be spoken to nicely. They work in pairs, if one is disrespectful, talk to the other one. If all else fails, ask for their warrant card. You have the right to inspect their warrant card just like they have the right to ask for your i.c. Take down their full name, rank and where they are from (usually there is a sign on their car to indicate which NPC they are from) and lodge a complaint if its justifiable. Its human nature that when some people are given a place of importance, it gets to their heads and lose sight of reality and go on a power trip.

Cheers bro. Do update us on the outcome of the complain.

IMHO, the general population of SG should have been raised with good upbringing but sadly that doesn't seem the case, at least to me. The proportion of respect & humbleness is in stark contrast to arrogance & ill-manners with the latter being simply overwhelming. I guess this is a society's disease & I do not have any suggestion on how to cure it. Perhaps someone can advise on this.

Lastly, it is always good to practise the saying "留一条生路给人,ç*‰äºŽå¼€ä¸€æ¡åŽè·¯ç»™è‡ªå·±". Just because someone gave you a pile of sh!t doesn't mean you should drown them in the sewage. Live & let live. You'll realise how much happier you'll be by being graciously forgiving. Constantly thinking of exacting revenge will only bring more hatred & hatred will lead you to the dark side...

Aiyo.. one must be calm when things like this happen.. either dun react at all, or make him more angry without doing anything wrong like make him repeat what he said or laugh coz it's funny that he's shouting... Bet he'll get so angry he'll do an offence to you.. and give you a better chance to put him down..

I did that once... but he never got a step further for me to complain uh.. What happened was I was asked for my ic at void deck and it's only 3 of us (all girls). So I questioned him why need to produce ic, it's not wrong what... then he raised his voice, say it's an offence not to produce ic when asked.... I laughed.. and say, "sorry what did you say? couldnt understand the language of shouting uh..."

He basically demanded for my ic, and i just say i have citizen right to refuse, coz i did nothing wrong and walked away.. my friend scared and ran after me.. The truth was, i dun have my ic with me at that point of time.. Haha..

haha... Is not wrong to not bring your IC out. u can tell dem verbally. it could just be a routine check. But than walking away is kinda lyk playing with fire. mayb lucky u're a girl. if a guy. haa.. i won't wan to think of wat's gona happen.

I not so noble like you. :) I dun like Sh!t.. So if someone give me the Sh!t, i will shaft it in his mouth...... and make him smell it.

On your good saying in chinese, are you telling this to the TS or to the Officer? Its obvious that the officer NEVER 留一条生路给人. So how do you expect the TS to do that? Walk behind closed doors???

Its not abt revenge actually. Its abt justice... You feel that being shouted in public and giving you a disgrace like you are a criminal is justice to you? Can he justify that the TS is a criminal? If TS is a criminal then of cos so be it you can shout, scream or even beat him up. But no... he is not.... he just sitting there with his bike. And how do you knw he is PARKING there. Mabbe he just push there to do some maintenance? Your carpark so dark i cant see and got no money to go workshop you mean i cannot push my bike to the void deck? You see me ride??? You see me start engine??? Wat abt those cars parking on pavement? You telling me they PUSH the car to the pavement??? Hmmmmm

Sometimes ppl dun just "GIVE" you sh!t. They just Sh!t on your head.. Thats when its very injustice if its from a law enforcer.

You sound angry at the mention of the word police. Even if TS has committed any crime, the officer has ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT to be shouting, screaming or even beating him up if he obeys & did not resist arrest. A blue uniform & warrant card does not entitle the person possessing it such superiority.
