HElp...screwthreads for left mirror worn off..how to repair?

as above...

try to use some paper to stuff..

use those water tighten white tape to tighten..

but no use...

 

the screw threads is worn off..

mirror cannot b tighten...

how to repair...

dun wan to replace the whole handle bar bcoz of a screw thread

Go to an engineering workshop and ask them to spot-weld a nut over the existing hole. However, your mirror may be a little higher after that, unless you also modify the stem of the mirror. Should cost no more than $10 I think.

the hardwareshop behind the kopitiam opp ah boy got sell this thread repair kit, think about $10. not sure how it works though. it's the shop that sells screws

i dunno if any workshops have it.. but a die can cut the threads properly again.. maybe the threads is not worn off.. just impurities stuck there or some part of the thread have burr..

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

try loctite threadlocker.. i dunno where to buy but if u have friends working at an aerospace company, they should have it. Good luck!

 

Can buy this item at good hardware shops. There's one at Ubi, called Homely. Power shop. Big at that.

Drive : Proton Saga 1.3M SJN plate (11th June 10 - Present)

Ride : Honda S4 Revo FBC plate (12th July 08 - Present)

Former Ride : Phantom TA200 FV plate (9th September 05 - 12th July 08)

hi bro, 2 years back i had the same situation as you...

but only the top 1.5cm of screw thread is gone.

wat i did was to saw off about 8mm of the screw hole and VIOLA!!!

still can mount my mirrors till now... :p

 

u gotta check and see how deep the screw thread is worn out...

if u need help to saw, feel free to contact me.

or maybe take a pic of the screw hole and post in here ba...

then i see wat i can do... :smile:
