a part of me wishes to hear you having a self-induced accident, on the otherhand, i wish you will not

Ok, my turn to butt in. Even if you think his advice is wrong, there's no need to wish for ppl to get into accidents. That's just plain mean and unnecessary.

yes, Beat, i do see your point regarding free wheeling. i do apologise for my lack of experience and oversight in that.

by the way, thanks for pointing out my mistake, Beat. appreciate that.

like i said, this is just a sharing session, what irks me is the way you express your opinions which i think is outright rude. then again, this is a forum, you have your freedom of words. just hoping you will be more tactful.

when i started learning 2B, i asked a lot of questions here and many people gave me lots of tips. right or wrong, i am thankful for their advice. now, i just wish to reciprocate the kindness everyone has given me before. oh well, i guess this kindness is deemed not necessary anymore.

ok, everyone, there is no use asking questions here, please ask your instructors. good luck for your tp!

dude, 47 posts and counting. a quick glance and less than 5 posts are asking for tips on prac lessons. you called that alot?

most of them are your whinings on how you failed your pracs and TP.

if your tips to passing is correct as per what the school has taught, nobody will have any qualms against it. i'm sure everybody agree.

but if fellow forumer whom are still learning and going thru the practicals, and they heed your advice and go for prac, or worse, on the road, are you going to be responsible for what you have said to misguide them should they get into any mishap, be it major or minor?

you might pass your 2b with your method of freewheeling across the plank, wait till you go for you 2a and class 2 where the timing are longer and heavier vehicle weight.

i've said my piece.

ok. Err, for the narrow plank. I followed triloza's advice. Look far, grip tank, maintain throttle and half clutch, control speed with rear brake. But i always go off not even halfway through. Does being nervous/distracted contribute to this? Seeing even other first timers going through it and I'm the only one who can't is making me frustrated. Haha. Would it help i practiced on a bicycle or something?

yes, nervous and distraction do factor in..

just relax and look further away from the last cone..

go up the plank fast, and go slow half way thru..

if you are confident in balancing, shift your weight to counterbalance. but i wouldn't recommend it.

there are actually certain techniques which i dun wish to disclose as it would be more applicable for 2a/2..

don't want to pollute the minds of 2b learners..

I don't know about you guys but, i recommend against free wheeling. You have less control and your bike will drop. It has everything to do with half clutch biting point.

archer: Dude, my opinion is that, even though you may have good advice, the way you put it across can be callous at times. Take it easy, man. I know you're sort of protecting us newbies in a sense, but tough love doesn't work for everyone. Cheers!

yeah gd luck ok! but why u fail the first time?

blind spot, not familar and speed slow. everytime i got a feeling if too fast will hit people from behind. first time go on the road, i blur. lol

there are some videos on youtube how the SSDC instructor can clock minutes on the plank.. try to learn some tips by watching them..

it does help me to do well for my plank and i believe they will benefit you..

to newbies, many of us are working, thus may not able to logon every now and then to give advise.. and those who really need help, can search thru older pages for more tips..

of course the best still your instructors, although some of them may not as friendly.. :)

anyway, cheers..

No worries. I hope it works out though.

Keep the practicing when you get your ride, you'll surely get better at it!

All the best!

i realized you guys are trying to maintain this forum in a friendly manner. @YiFan & Beat

good job! you all are so friendly hahaha.

aRcHeR is only being direct. in any case he speaks with experience. just dont take things the hard way.

btw for prac 4, can i fully release clutch and only use rear brake? i haven't been to the lesson, so getting myself prepared first.

Posted

I had my pract, the instructor said to maintain half clutch. Cos i think the clutch also controls speed. XD. Im not sure. But my hand will start to cramp up. When's your pract?

your bike will chutter if you fully release the clutch as the speed is too low..

with half clutch, you are able to maintain some power to the engine w/o too much actual speed on the plank.
