hmmmm, sounds like an early model edition?

I've changed the sprockets and chain on the Impulse as it is wearing out, and i can hear the clak clak clak sound when clutching in.

After changing it from the 45 teeth to the original stock 48, the bike feels much better and "tighter". pickup is slightly increased due to the lower gear ratio.

previous sprocket was 45 mainly for more top speed, but since i don't go at high speeds often, i dont mind moving it back to 48 for more acceleration.

feels good. now whats left is the paintjob and changing the springs on rear suspension as they are too soft from old age.

u shld invest in a pair of bitubos w rebound....I used a pair for 5yrs with a wingrack n heavy pillion n it still gives u confidence in tight corners...no wallowing or excessive humping up n down....we shld meet up...I'm slowly rebuildin a bandit

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that

@pufferfis, good idea. i am always interested to look at people restoring bikes. very rare to find such people in SG.

The bandits and impulse share some parts as well, and I can refer you to @S750WP.

he does a very good job of tuning the carbs for Impulse & Bandits. and his pricing is reasonable.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

yeah he did a fantastic job too...anyways I just got from ks n eversuccess the 3 shorter hoses for $18 each plus $35 for the thermostat wic looks like a flying saucer...as I found the hoses r leaking..n not flowing up properly...wil change the 2 longer hoses later for $22 n $24 as quoted by eversuccess when got budget...n perhaps get quotation for thewater pump tooo

KS is cheaper for me. But if you plan to change sprocket or chain, just get the original sprocket from KS.

the chain they supply is from Iris, spanish brand. not reputated to be durable. go for DID instead.

I using the IRIS chain now, and its ok but abit unsettling since there has been reports of the chain snapping early.

ah chong also mentioned that it is even lousier than RK chains.

I need to find time to de rust the fuel tank with the derusting solution i bought. and also send it for paintjob. no time no time.

i bought metal rescue solution. can google it.

but no time to use it yet, cause it needs to contact the metal for 6-12 hours to remove the rust. don't know where to leave the gas tank also since i staying in rented room, no space to put.

btw my fuel filter don't know how old liao. i bought 1 from LAB but the size of the hole is smaller than the fuel line so it's loose. i tried to find fuel filter with bigger hole but can't find, then replacing the fuel line abit leh cheh also leh.

I have use genuine RK o ring chain on my impulse 400 from LAB and using my own DIY chain oiler and for a year the chain never slacken at all. Its value for money if you have a tight budget it cost $70 inclusive of installation at lab work shop. Front sprocket I bought from KS it cost abt 45 rear sprocket Sun brand from ex owner which is very durable.

There're Broquet magnet balls in the fuel tank, bought from UniqueMotor.

For fuel saving choose caltex.

really? never see anything inside before. is it in a bag?

i don't think is because of Broquet cause that 26km/l is an isolated incident.

Next time go to Uniquemotor to take the balls out with their magnetic tool.

Anyway the balls did not impress me.

went to chong last friday. got the original front signal lamps installed. but with that, lost the always on front signal lights. visibility might be down but i am ordering bikevis bullets to be installed.

also changed the headlamp bulb to Osram Nightbreakers since the current bulb is old liao.

went to Paint Extreme to get quote for my paintjob. 400 bucks, 1 week. consist of chemical washing of paint, respray fenders, tanks, side panels and rear panels.

Am deciding between Grigio Telestro (Lamborghini Grey) or Blue/White ala Ford Mustang. leaning towards blue/white.

spotted another impulse at Planet. this one is an FP plate with red black and maroon paintwork.

unfortunately, it's crashed and had a huge dent in the tank. levers were broken off and headlight smashed. no crash bar = major damage to bodywork and engine.

very unlikely to be restored back. i left a message on the bike but not sure if owner will contact me to meet.

All the impulse I see are either due for scrapped or accident......sad.

Have relocated IU and now bike looks much better.

will be sending for derusting and paintjob in the next 2 weeks. after which, a high polish session at Riding 69. Restoration 75 percent complete!

Friends, please tell me what to put on the valve clearances Impulse? No it does not find the instructions on our motorcycle. The instructions on the GSF 400 Bandit: IN 0.10-015 mm, EX 0.15-0.20 mm, and GSX-R 400(1988)-IN 0.13-0.18mm, EX 0.20-0.25 mm. So what are the gaps on Impulse? Thanks!

Push start button then full throttle, don't release the throttle until it starts.

Then u may only need 1 crank.
