No more regrets.

Ok bah... I bot a multi-meter to check the voltage and stuff. The thing is, i've got spare batts. So the charged batt is still not being used.

Basically, It performs its function --------> it charges...

Sorry, but is the weight of the charger important? I dun think my bike can tell the difference between 500g and 1.5kg if i were to bring it along.

Actually, i think its capabilities is about the same as the vanson charger. So i should have just bought that instead.. damn...

Vanson is heavier. If you want my Vanson Charger, I sell it to you for $20. Only used once.

I like the retro bike at the back, Phang. I think I met the owner at SBBF last year on the 2nd day. I think I'll try my charger tomorrow or something. See how it goes.

Done! Took less than 30 mins. From desulphation to full charge. Checked it with my multimeter, its back to 12.84V :cheer:

Now to try on my mum's car. Don't worry, it's the XS3600 that I'll be using the charge the battery. It's a GS MF battery. The reading is already 12.46V

I am addicted to battery charging now... charging my bikes, car and maybe I should offer my neighbours a free charging session..

Hi Mr. Lim,

Have you even distributed Ctek charger to Kuala Lumpur? Hardly seen this in KL at the moment. Or do you come to KL often? I want to buy.

I read on a Yuasa battery, it says we can either use a trickle charger say 1.2A for 10 hours or a fast charger 5A for 1 hour. Is that usual for most batteries?

The traditional way of charge is one-tenth of the current for about 10-12 hours. Perhaps the fast charge is how most shops get your battery up again in an hour?

He who hesitates is lost!

I think wat you wrote is meant for charging a brand new battery. Charging of batteries (duration) really depends on the quality & wat stage is the battery power at b4 u charge them......

1)

Our CTEK chargers will sense b4 charging - if battery is spoilt then she will not charge it. The higher end models will indicate tt d battery cannot be charged.

But commonly - the battery shop have a battery tester wif a load testing mode tt will tell if the battery if spoilt.

2)

Dun over load yr battery capacity 7 try using them regularly....

Do try to recondition yr battery once a year. Last but most important - buy a good quality battery. We have a 500ah battery from the USA than lasted 7 years ....

hi knowledgeable battery charging people!

1 question - for a brand new sealed type battery, do we need to charge it after we have poured the electrolyte into the battery, or are we NOT suppose to charge it but install it straight onto the bike?

Hi........ mate

If it is sealed how do U pour in the battery acid (electrolyte) ?? Best to charge all automotive batteries b4 installation, unless they are already fully charged & ready to be used.

Tks for the reply. I meant after pouring in the acid, the battery is sealed. Yuasa call this the dry type I think.

hmm...so the bike shop people (and LAB) are wrong then.... I have my suspicion, cause the voltage of the battery is only 12.8V after I poured in the acid.

Hmm...since you mentioned fully sealed lead acid batteries, are they better than the usual ones for automotive? Sim Lim Tower selling a few of these, in 12V up to 9Ah. If these fully sealed batteries can withstand infrequent charging/discharging it'll be perfect for me!

think i just got chopped haha ...bike couldn't start this morning ...so push start ride to bukit merah ...Mech's Voltmeter showed about 12v ...so he concluded that batt is dead ... need to change one $120 ...LL cause all shops closed. ...

After install check again with voltmeter ...shows 12.8 ..slowly buliding up to about 13v ...but mech says the charging too slow maybe rectifier/magneto spoilt ...need to change soon

my questions are ....can my previous battery be saved by using the battery charger ? (damn i forget to take it back after changing) ....and can the battery charger prolong the life of my current ( new) battery ?

BTW my current batt is a YT12BS-BS ...previous is GT12B-4
