Qns: Which part of the lane do you guys stay when lane splitting? Do you try to stay out of the white dotted lines? Do you stay on the extreme sides of the lanes?

Because from my experience riding a 2b fz16 while lane splitting, when i stay on the dotted lines sometimes the roads have small little gaps which makes my bike do a little mini skid. So any other experiences from other riders especially those riding kups, fz16 have a fairly thick wheel but i still get the mini skids when riding on the dotted lines, so wanna ask how the kup riders handle. And of course 2A 2 riders, are you bigger tires for stable on the dotted lines?

Thanks guys!

I avoid riding on all white/yellow/painted lines, even when lane splitting. I take them as a coloured layer above the common road.

ALWAYS avoid riding on the lines. Ride just away from them. So basically you just gently glide left & right of the lines as you overtake.

Lines are slippery as you yourself admitted. Dry weather still not too bad....but they are deadly in the wet. I kena buang once when I did a medium brake (pickup in front suddenly jammed brake as i was abt 1.5 car lengths away) one wet morning. & i was just going abt 50-60kmh on the pie.

U may not have much choices sometimes depending on the clearance given by the vehicles on your sides. It would be prudent to anticipate the ride on the lines. Painted surfaces do pose a threat especially when wet. So as a new rider u may not want to lane split when it is wet. If there is still signs of lost of traction on the dotted lines when it is dry then the tyre may deserve a change as it is possible to have hardened with time. Reduced speed during lane splitting helps with reduced demand on traction and reaction space to contingencies.

Ride safe, always.

Even if you are not lane splitting, stay off the arrow markings too (especially when it is wet)

for those that skidded, do the white lines and arrows themselves make u skid when ur wheels are not locked?

Regardless whether I'm lane splitting or not, when I'm on the road, my concentration is never on these lines/arrows but rather the traffic around me n road ahead. So far touch wood no skidding when I had to brake or siam obstacles n other vehicles.
