road tax follows the bike. not the bike owner.

u can check whether yr bike has any existing road tax paid up via http://www.onemotoring.com.sg and click on renew road tax. that page should be able to show yr existing road rax expiry date.

suggest you don't take the risk of riding yr bike w/o valid road tax cause the penalty is not light.

Hi guys! I have some questions regarding Inspection, Road Tax and Insurance.

Firstly, my vehicle inspection date and road tax expiry date are both on the 28th December 2009. My insurance is only valid until 11th March 2010. From my understanding from reading this thread, I have to extend my insurance until 28th June or 28th December 2010 for me to successfully renew my road tax until 28th June 2010 right? Is a 2 month extension possible for an insurer such as NTUC?

Secondly, if I decide to go for an inspection in November 2009 this year, that means next year, I have to go for my inspection in June 2010 because my inspection date is until November 2010 and does not cover my road tax until December 2010 right? In other words, if I decide to go for an inspection on the 1st of December 2009, my next inspection date will be on the 1st of December 2010 yes? So if this is the case, I will not be able to renew my road tax until I go for another inspection first? Or am I wrong for this second question?

Thirdly, if inspection and road tax is on the 28th December 2009, is this my last day i can ride my bike LEGALLY or this is the day my inspection and road tax expires?

This is really confusing guys and I would really appreciate all your help! Thanks a plenty! :)

Firstly, 2 months insurance.. no.. you have to pay 1 year, cancel it and forfeit around 20% and etc.. see your full T%C on the insurance paper.

secondly, you cannot anyhow go for inspection, they will have a record and ask you to go and inspect on a yearly basics..

thirdly, yes, that's the last day you can ride your bike LEGALLY on the road.. but you can always pay your road tax in advance one month like this..

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

i would like to offer a 2nd view to the questions.

extension of yr existing insurance to match the roadtax expiry date is possible. this is provided that u are currently already on a 12mth (1year) policy w/ NTUC Income. i.e. you can extend yr existing 12month to become 14months.

inspection is to be done on an annual basis (i.e. once per year). the date on which the window period begins or ends is tied to the date yr vehicle was registered. from wat i see, the window period for your vehicle closes on 28th Dec of every year.

the annual inspection should be done within 3mths from 28th Dec. for 2009, u plan to go during Nov, which is fine. but, there is no need for u to go for another inspection in Jun 08 (when u renew yr road tax for 6mths). just aim for inspection within 3mths from 28th Dec 2010.

1. insurance coverage

2. annual inspection (only applicable for motorbikes from 3yrs old & onwards)

3. road tax (counting on a yearly basis, not 6monthly)

u need to have both 1 & 2 before u can renew 3.

it doesnt matter whether u choose to get 1 or 2 done up first.

:goodluck:

in terms of whether it is legal for your bike to be rode on the road, as long as u have 1 & 3, then u r fine. if your road tax ends on 28th Dec, then i suggest u give yourself a comfortable time period of at least a few days before 28th Dec to clear items 1 to 3. dont wait till last min. cause if u are caught riding the bike after 28th Dec with no valid road tax, penalty is heavy.

NO sidestand will pass?

and im usin racing footrest with no rear disc brake??

need help guys...

thanks.

if yr bike has rear drumbrakes, means yr rear brake effectiveness is quite low with the racing footrest. can try yr luck. must at least make sure yr rear brakelight works.

if fail inspection due to rear brake not effective enough, then gotta pay another $10 or so for re-inspection, after swopping back to original footrest.

to make it 100% safe, then juz change everything to stock before going for inspection. not much of choices when u want to do modifications and go for inspection on your own.

Thank you so much guys! I was worried about 2 things.

1) If i go for inspection on the 1st November 2009, i am afraid that my next inspection will be on the 1st November 2010. This would be very inconvenient for me. So if i went on 1st November 2009, my next inspection date would still be on the 28th December 2010?

2) If my inspection date and road tax due date is on the 28th December 2008, i was afraid i could not be riding to the inspection centre.

Once again, thanks alot guys! :)

EDIT: Oh just so you guys know, i called up NTUC just now. They say can extend for 1-6 months insurance to match the bike road tax but cannot more. Then they say next year insurance premium will be up by 30% for those who never claim. Those who claim will get higher like 50+%. Thats what the operatior said. I called AXA regarding this matter and they also confirmed this.

hey guys,

inspection with "motorshop" or "LTA" better??

if im nt wrong inspection with motorshop is at bit ex right??

people who let motorshop go through the inspection because their bikes are heavily mod.

if its a stock bike, just go to any inspection centre yourself will do.
