ok, in the 1st place, never heard book 4 squeezing. those book for careless driving is if they cut anyhow, in & out of lane. if in a jam, u stay centre btw 2 rows of cars, that's not illegal, but u got to be very careful, cos if kenna accident, it's always bikes fault, cos dont know which lane u're in. so when cars r moving, never move together with them in the centre.

i'm not happy with those tp that break the law, u can go approach them, but u kenna mark not my problem. i've got a friend whom a tp approach him 4 double yellow line, but then he shoot him back y he do a illegal u turn back there, then he just LL give my friend a warning.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

To me bikes shld be allowed on bus lanes provided they don't block the buses and must give way to them.

My view is a NO.

Bikes should be given the same respect as any other vehicles on the road.

If today, LTA allow bikes in bus lane.

Tomorrow, Taxi Drivers will scream and asked to be allowed. Cause they are also public transport. When there is a bus, they can always hit the pad and zoom out, giving way to the bus.

There should never be the assumation that riders can give way to a bus or get out of a bus way easier than any other vehicles. If this is the case, it will not make any difference which lane the rider is on, cause he/she would be a 'super' rider who can switch lanes whenever he/she wants and not cause other road user any obstruction.

My 2 cents worth.

Life is too short to be complianing............

car cant even turn out, how can taxi. i respect your opinion, but how many bikers dare say they wont squeeze during a traffic jam.

Campaigning for motorcyles in bus lanes is not news and was even brought up here in SGbikes some years back.

Bus lane for motorcyclists? http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149923

You will be surprised how much safer it is for us to be in bus lanes. Buses are big but predictable, no abrupt lane change no tailgating. They are not 24/7 in the lane, so most of the time the lanes are empty.

Been riding for years in bus lanes in Sydney I feel so safe there although taxis are allowed in the lanes as well.

It boils down to whether our gahment and LTA is proactive and care enough. Sydney did, and has for years allowed motorcycles with little to no issues. London now is having trials too as their gahment is receptive of the motorcycling community. Can we say the same for SG? :dot:

From 5 January 2009, an 18-month trial will allow motorcycles, mopeds, scooters and tricycles - but not those with sidecars - to travel in most red route bus lanes.

Drivers of these vehicles will be able to use red route bus lanes currently used by cyclists and taxi drivers during operational hours.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, delivers another manifesto pledge by introducing this trial, which will last a maximum of 18 months.

It does not include bus lanes on borough roads. Decisions about these roads lie with the individual boroughs.

During the trial we will undertake monitoring to help determine whether to make the regulation permanent.

I'm not in favor of that.... Can you imagine a bus lane with tons of bikes in there. Would be more dangerous than something else...

if you want to use the bus lane... Take the Bus ;)

if u mean something like the Q at woodlands checkpoint, that's not gonna happen.

the consideration is nomal commuting traffic.

Heard from my cousin from Sydney that bikes can run in bus lanes too, and that it helps a lot in terms of traffic flow.

I mean, we could keep up with the buses for sure. Safer for us too, don't you think?

If the bus stops and you wanna over take just filter out, otherwise stay behind and wait. Most of the time we wouldn't need to use bus lane anyway, unless there's really heavy traffic on the normal lanes.

Either way, we would still be lane splitting and going to the front (whether traffic is at stop or still moving), why not the safer route (bus lane)?
