Just finished replacing the top block gasket, cam chain tensioner, new air filter, tuned valve clearance, washed and synchronized carbs. Now the bike is pending steerer cone bearing replacement this Saturday. This baby is gonna run smooth as butter soon. hehe.

 

Btw, brother Lewis is my friend and he told me a lot abt the club activities. Got the XJR under his influence.

Hi,xjrredbull,

 

Yup, i have the bearing replaced as well as the rectifier. Now the bike is running at optimal condition. hehe. Managed to get 25km/L FC!

 

Lewis and I made DIY oil cooler cover using silver car grille. The bikes look more bling now. Will upload photo soon.

 

Btw, does anyone know where to get a windshield (Givi or Puig) for XJR? asked a few shops, but they have no stock. I plan to make the bike tour ready by adding windshield, tankbag, GPS power cord and walkie-talkie.

1. Regina/LAB? They have some accessories that u mentioned here. Or u can also try

2. Chong Aik at Desker Road(near Mustafa Center) to look at affordable tank bags.

3. Motoworld also have good accessories/windshields fr you to consider & look see.

Planning a trip to Kuantan. The twisties in the east coast should be fun to ride. hehe. Also intend to test out the walkie talkie intercomm and GPS system to make it ready for longer trips.

Yamaha bikes are meant to be noisy when the engine is idle.. somewhat like a faint rattling sound? But need to hear it to confirm. Dun worry too much abt it lah.

Im Khai a new XJR400 rider...intrested with this group..and need some info for this bike...can u guys guide me thru?

 

Make plans for kopi session(sms me lor) or come & meet the others on a meet-ups Saturdays, hopefully we can quell away some of the discomforts in the heart(if any).

Its not a difficult bike to ride/live with.

I had mine since Sept 04 & still love it too much to let it go.

The noise may come from two places;

commonly oil pump or secondary chain (needs a overhaul) or minorly from faulty chain tensioners & timing chains.

 

The best is still to let your XJR meet the other XJRs so that you can hear & look see for yourself. That is to me still to best way to convince yourself of the XJR that you are riding.

I am btw, at the eastside of sing-jia-pour & is ever willing to meet-up with you guys nearby, if u guys is asking.

ask the guys here, they will tell you the same thing.

 

seeing a XJR becoming part of our XJRer, is a welcome with lotsa pairs of hands, not just my arms wide open...

when i got my XJR, it was terribly noisy: very strong metallic noise at 3000rpm resonance point, idle sound is rough. Then i had the chain tensioner replaced, valve clearance and carb washed+synchronized, most of noise disappeared. The bike now runs smooth like butter.
