About 1 month ago I checked out the prices of XJR400. HL told me they've got no stock, except for blue. Silver is what I wanted so I nevertheless just out of KPOness asked a bit more. The blue is offered at $11.5K OTR w/o insurance. Silver if I want will only come next ~Mar. Price to be determined.

I then went down to Excel to check them out. They have a blue and a white. Don't really fancy the white buit still asked the same things. Quoted $11.2K OTR without insurance.

Then went to check our the 2nd hand 03' XJR as mentioned by Chiacka @ Malay Village. Happened that it was sold already. Samt thing, no stock for silver but their price is $11.3 OTR without insurance.

Considering that OTR don't usually include agreement fees, and HL don't charge for them, the prices quoted are about the same, maybe by $100 at most from my estimation. These are all "pre-bargain" prices. For $100 difference, I would refer to get from HL as they are the authorised distributor. No messups like what is often heard from some bike shops.

Aiyoyo....all the craps lah.

If u really interested, get them to quote u a package price but ask them to break it down too so u can see the package price include wat things. Mine....kekeke....where got pay stamp fee one, smoke u one lah. Then hor, the price I was quoted inclusive of comprehensive insurance for my age lor.....

You must know your stuff to bargain lor. Btw, if wanna go Albert, dun go to that Bt Merah branch, suxs man. Go to the main office, which is at Geylang one...Look for Roy, seems like a nice guy and quite honest though. But their finance abit exp...8% interest leh.

Has anyone changed their tires to something else than the stock BT020?

I just changed my rear to BT090 150/60 and it's abit too small. Was told that maybe can try to fit 160/60 in. Anyone tried that yet?

Overall, BT090 is definitely a nice tire for me...and will be changing the front one as well soon...But those who juz change, be careful hor...the handling is different esp. during bends and corners...shiok but dun be over-confident.

Yo fellow XJRiders, :weep:

I just met with an accident this afternoon at 1230noon along braddell road. My XJR....lost its exhust. I was fortunate to be alive. FX XJR....

I was sitting on the road staring at my XJR laying in the bushes...imagine

I just gave it a nice polishing/cleaning the night before....

The exhust was rolling on the road, my Givi box cant be closed anymore.

Sad scene.....

I was conveyed to the hospital by an ambulance, stucked in the A&E for hours. But luckily the bills are covered by SAF.

Anyway, just want to let you guys know, becareful on the road. I suffered a hip injury and some abrasions. Dunno how the investigation outcome will be like....its a complicated accident, I guess I am at fault also. Maybe fine 200 bucks with 6 demerit points.

I am resting at home now, 8 days MC. See hows the outcome...

Ride safely man....

Tat bad, mann....Take care & Rest well...I undstd yr "f**kup" feelings.... :weep: :weep:

Kekeke....agrees. That's why I chose the silver one...not becoz of color but becoz it's one without those box or stripe design.

And that's why this is the only colour that sold out and must wait for next shipment... Haha... Wait until now me also shift my attention to 04 Fazer liao.

Never give the devil a ride..cos he will always want to drive

from experience owning a XJR...

oil change is 2L only,

if change oil filter, may need more.

Abt a bottle or half. that is what i could remember.

i did a change of my oil filter with another original yamaha filter.

i've already asked this in another thread and chaika have answered...so this is for the rest of u guys, just looking for more opinions(no offense chic) :D ::

does e bike have ABS or can ABS be added?...cos i'm taking 2a at cdc n during e-brake, i think i pressed e rear brake too hard n the rear brake release-grip release-grip e wheel just like ABS....

another thing...abt the 'extra noise' during idle, do u guys experience this?some1 in here said abt experiencing this noise right...does every1 else experience this?wat could cause this?...even the bikes at cdc got this noise...

thanks in advance

U mean the tick tick tick tick sound when the bike is idling ?

I had that as well, i think its normal lah, cos i ever seen some other XJRiders mentioned abt this in the thread as well.

Could someone else comment on this? :?

Just curious to know, roughly how much is a 2nd hand XJR400R which is from 1998 and above? I am interested to get one.

I have juz approached HL and well, guess the mechanic gave me a veri good and detail explanation which now I understand my bike better, all this FOC hor...

Well, basically it is due to wear and tear and if there is no power loss, there is nothing to alarm abt. Furthermore, he hear my engine idling sound oredi, and said mine is considered in good condition liaoz...compared to those worst case than mine, esp. those from CDC.

For tires, can go for BT090, solid but there will be difference in handling compared to stock, and some minor issue that I am trying to figure out the cause and the remedy for it (actually nothing much to most pple, but to me, I like it to be as perfect as possible).

Iridium spark plugs really made a diff...plus some other goodies I am still testing out, so far so good. I am now sticking to Fuchs Pro 4 15W50 until I find something better and provides good mileage. Those interested can contact me, as I can order in bulk, much much cheaper leh.

As for engine oil, even HL mechanic oso recommend using 15W50 or 20W50 good grade ones, and not cheapo ones coz of the design of XJR. He strongly advised against 10W40 as he said that it is really not suitable for XJR and our climate...too lean. That further proven my findings are correct.

Chaicka you tried the Total 4T? Quite a lot of S4 used it with err... non-negative comments.

Personally, I dun think it's fully syn, and well, have not try it thus not much to comment abt. Pardon me, but I oni trust the feedback and review of a few pple in SBF, the rest....nah. (dun flame me) Anyway, I use oni fully syn and still keeping an open heart to find the best oil. So far, on a personal view basis, I tried or gathered from evaluation team of mine on the following brands: Motul (yucks), Elf (too lean 10W50, they dun have 15W50), Rock Oil (mileage cannot last), Motorex (too lean and sucky at the beginning of oil change and oni will perform well after at late stage of mileage), Royal Purple (seriously doubt it's really fully syn and most importantly, performance inconsistent all the time), Fuchs (so far still the best but still some minor issues tat I have feedback). Waiting for results will be AMSOil which was tested to be good on Phantom, now testing on S4 and to be on XJR too.

FYI (and those who really noe me personally), I have high expectations and high guidelines b4 I recommend products. Furthermore, I dun read those written specs oni, coz it is juz a guideline to understand the product more, but in practical usage, those written specs ain't all the time truthful. FYI, some of the specs are bullshit coz the product sold here are packed locally or in asia region and thus the specs ain't accurate coz they tweaked it for region usage, be it to lower cost, or local climate, etc reason.

I used to have a list of parts and peripherals posted up for view of all. But due to some reasons (some pple juz cannot take it and flame us for it, some asking ridicious qns, etc etc), I have move it into FOR PRIVATE PKC MEMBERS EYES ONLY. Maybe some day in the future, I will share the results again...maybe not. But if u r really interested to know on the XJR portion, I dun mind sharing wif u...though there is still alot for me to find out and finalise the results.

If someone wanna sponsor me for my testing, I need 4 bottles. 2 bottles for each change, and I test for consecutively 2 change b4 I dare to say the results/feel is accurate.

Reason is, there are bound to be residue of previous oil in it even when u try to flush out all of the previous oil. Thus the first change of oil to another brand or another grade, the results/findings ain't really trust-worthy coz previous oil may affect due to chemical content difference as well as chemical reactions. However, at the 2nd oil change of the same brand and grade, if the results/findings is consistent wif the 1st result/finding, den most likely it is more accurate and can be trusted. Then at this stage, test it on other bikes and see if the results/findings is the same too.....this will prove if it is the oil or the bike that is giving u the results/findings.
