Bro, I'm a new member.

I've been quietly reading the XJR thread since joining. Why XJR? Too many Super 4s I guess. Been a long, long while since I rode a bike.

So sorry - have throw a wet blanket on you. I bought Tommy's bike in January. So far the bike's not totally bad except I had to quickly change the rear brake pads and there seems to be a leak at the alternator side of the engine. Not sure if its serious. Cannot see what it is. Hope its not a crack. I'm getting the bike checked out this week and have it serviced/tuned.

 

alternator or magneto side bro? anyway, u must be talking about a eo leak when u put the bike on side/parking stand. Its a cheap repair if u ask me. It should be just a small but noticeable leak. Get your mech to take out the side cover & he would be able to see where the leak is coming from.

 

Anyway, have you been away for awhile? u mentioned of not riding on the XJr for a while.

I'll go if I can get the bike before then. Albert motors told me that it takes two weeks for them to spray the bike. Does it really take that long?

well, that is possible...

when i re-sprayed my bike in 05, it took Yeow Spray 16 long days....The wait was like forever.

Anyway bro, have a quick check with Albert now & then...bug them & hopefully they get thejob done ASAP.

My friend went to Yuh Loong to check out the prices recently

for XJR 400.

 

He told me the price range is between 7-8k for all XJRs.

 

Mostly FX-FY plates.

 

Isnt it a bit too ex compared to Excelcycle's FW plate XJR ($4.5K)?

 

Look at this way bro, I bought my FY plate in 2004 for S$8.5K @ Albert Motors.

Another new rider, Leon, bought his FW at also Albert Motor in Jan 09 @ S$3.8K after nego.

i think that say alot for the prices that he offers.

But try bargaining.

He(Steven, Yuh Loong)once qouted 7k for a old Fighting Spirit XJR, saying that the renewal of COE as a reason for a hefty price.

 

You seems to really like this Yamaha XJR. I read that u been looking around for it. That is impressive. Do not settle for any other bike to salivate ur XJR hunger...Continue to look around for it, you will never know. If I hear anything, I let u know via PM.

for xjr4 should be about 12k below lah..if not wrong lah...but if lucky got lelong 9k brand new can get lah...my ex work friend was quoted 9k by heng moto boss leh..too bad he is boss friend lah...for 1300xjr i think asp is givin good prices mah...never ask b4 leh

but 500 + (200x16mths) = $3700

that is considered cheap I tell you.

for accessories got many but tang bra out of question.maybe only moto world have but alternatively United Kingdom xjr club lor...

side fairing need to modify(brackets) but will look like taxi S4 leh...

Belly pan for xjr is pointed at front wheel side leh..as for mechanic im confident about sin boon & planet..But be ware of 1 mechanic which dare to tell the bike valve bend...as a precision engineer harden parts never bend they are brittle when hardened (eg:carbide)so they break or shatter...my friend ever kena so beware...handle bar i just bought at ah boi @$28 long and filled not empty like original ones..

most parts can get @ ah boi mah...Even i came across yamaha agent from jalan besar go ah boi order stuff...money for quality is more better than money for quantity what...gd luck

everybody is entitled to their own opinions with regards to e side farings,accessories and customisations.

 

I personally hoped That U've been there personally, to planet or sin boon & not just blank recomendations.

And, I hope u can back up with what was being said here.

 

lim ah boy is known all over our island for cheap fake, spare parts BUT I believe, for any beloved, hardcore rider it's always best to buy the original especially since our bikes are unique....

 

Buy the original, Yamaha Genuine Parts.

1.For a FV plate below, its a good buy. good price.

2.checks for any visible oil leak, at the top head, the left hand side side engine covers/spockets covers. Cheap repairs cost on these.

3.a periodic eo change(monthly is best!), oil filter(6months) & air filter(6months).

 

For XJR400R

a. tank bra - NIL

b. side farings - i fixed up mine since '05 & have not looked back since.

c. belly pan - can use what the s4 is using or the new 'u-shape belly pan'.

d. head light/signal lites - scram headlites isit???

e. handle bar - i invested on a 'tag metal' handle since '05, its unbendable & strong.

 

It give me a good feel that i customised to my liking. cos its my XJR!

For a, c, e I can recommend u a shop on it, if u want.
