Hi All,

I'm new in SBF and hope to get some advices on brakes related matters. Currently, I'm riding a 6 year old SF1 (2nd owner). It is maintained regularly and its performance has been good; except:

When I applied my front brakes at speed abv 50km/h, a 'clicking sound' is audible fm the frontal right side ( not sure where is it). The mechanic could not pin point the cause/source and said tt the brake discs are not worn-out nor warped; and the pads are still usable. However, the brakes don't bite that well as before. Any one has the same experience?

Will servcing the master pump or change of brakes lines/cables helps in this case? A Japanese brand lines has a RP of $298 while the H*L cost less than $200 to instal. Which brand is compatible with SF1?

Thank you for your help.

Ok, just got it checked and it is indeed engine oil. Changed a small little circular thing beside the gear shifter and somewhere near the front sprocket. Anyone knows what is it?? Cost me $18 for that small little thing! :sian:

Think it's the oil seal around the gear shifter lever.

How time flies...

Big is certainly a warning but small can be downright scary! Never underestimate the effectiveness of small.

does this happen after every spark plug change? and also, how long after the change?

this used to happen on my g4, but its a really old bike. according to my mech, the fuel was soaking my plug, and he told me to ride the bike harder.

it hasn't happened since, i changed my riding style *grin*. a lot more fun now.

i dont know about the harm of riding on three working plugs, but i cant stand the loss of power, and the sluggish feel. also, you could just change that particular plug, its only like 10 bucks?

oh yes, i did tried the hard riding style, well it does helps..

but anyways, what i noticed is that it is important on how you crank.

like i need to twist the throttle a tiny bit then crank it up.. otherwise one of that particular header would not get warmed up.

anyways, it does really feel like riding a horse w/o one leg with 3 sp's.

For every 7 pounds you lose, you gain one horsepower.

Was your bike in neutral gear? Maybe your bike is not in neutral or your sidestand switch faulty or clutch switch faulty or neutral sensor faulty.

hey peeps.. any idea if BT39 110 will fit on a spec1? my fren wana give me his tyre.. still very new.. dunno will fit anot.. i noe stock is 120/60..

It's under-sized and will affect cornering IMO. Your rim will look bigger than your tyres.

How time flies...

hi turbocharge, basically when it comes to carbs, i take the "if it ain't broke dont fix it approach". i dont like to open the carbs up often, partly because i'm afraid of incompetent mechanics who dont know what they're doing.

so if you do find you need to wash/fix/adjust your carbs, do go to the best mech you can find.

btw, i dont think they need to be washed very often. maybe a lao jiao can enlighten me on the approximate interval washing should be done.

know where to change the bulb for the speedo? one side no light liao, when to change in one motorshop, damn hassle to change it as so many thing to remove first..

after everything is done, then realise the brightness of the bulb the shop change is not the same as the one on the RPM..but paiseh to tell the mechanic to open up and change again..guess they might not even have the same brightness one...

how many bulb are there anyway??
