Hmm.... put 2T into the tank to run a 4 stroke engine like a 2 stroke?? How come the highly paid and qualified engineers in the Research and Development branch of the motorcycle manufacturers didn't think of that?

Let's see the plus points... first the spark plug will get oil fouled up leading to misfirings and poor consumption and power, then the valves and valve seats will get coated with carbon causing leaks and again loss of compression and more power.. then the exhaust system will be clogged with more carbon buildup resulting in a choked exhaust system leading to even more loss of power.

Spend all that money on FCR carbs and aftermarket exhaust systems to increase the power of the bike and kill it all off by putting 2T into the fuel tank?

before anyone get misled, this is the truth..

What a brilliant idea... I shall try it out and post the results here. Heheh.

But seriously... I am only joking... I really hope your friend is too.

this is the joking part.. :D

LOL! Cut him some slack, he's literally gunned down. Not precisely the best of discussion one should try to conjure up here though. I'm not directing at anyone in particular when i say this, but i heard of this so-called 'theory'. When i was riding the KRR Kips, a other guy who rode a kips told me this, whose friend who rode a kips told him that, and who's neighbour who rode a kips told him that as well; Blind leading the blind. Not like I went to do it; my logic was simple, i just thought having done so by intoxicating my fuel with substance X, would explode something eventually. I wasnt in any position to justify myself back then, couldn't have said it better than senior Raptor.

Dear John, I'm back up on my ride. Meet up soon for bubble tea, on me.. :cheeky:

Hi, previously while riding 2B bike need to use 2T and friend suggest that take some 2T (abit) to mix it inside the fuel tank will make the bike more smooth (further more the exhaust smell a bit of 2T). Is this make sense. If is ture and we use the same method to do at DRZ?

maybe should send this one to mythbuster...see what they get......

Sorry if I sounded mean but I was taking it more as a joke.

I believe talkingcock is not really serious about the idea but just threw it out here as a discussion subject.

He is not being gunned down... I believe there is no such thing as stupid questions... but there are stupid answers.

I believe its good to ask questions. Coz if you don't ask... you will never know and never learn.

hmm let me just answer that question for u frm wad i know ba..the term of adding 2t into the fuel is actually called premix. 2t is only required for 2strokers as it is use to lubricate and cool down the engine parts. Most people will premix it if they are not running on 2t pump, but mainly on race or dirt bike. It is more reliable as you wont need to worry about insufficent 2t running on. But you have to mix accordingly to the ratio giving by the oil manufacturer, you cant have it to much or too little.

all 4 stroker run entirely on just engine oil, but u have to choose wad is right for it for example grade of the oil. Not all expensive things are meant to be good on ur ride.

I have just completed Cameron Trip with my DRZ last weekend, the trip is about 640km and I went with a group of class 2 bikers. 6am morning set out and arrived at 5pm afternoon. I am Crusing at 120km/h, My butt is burning even I have put a water bag on my seat, especially tough for a 170km travel during the trip. BUT I MADE IT, I have been there and this means a lot to me! Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of getting the DRZ, and after reading Sakai X's thread... he kindda made up my mind for me!!

Where can I get a used one?

I can't afford a brand new bike....

And do you think it's ok to put a box, and 2 side paneers on the bike? Like the Hepco and Becker ones?

Thanks!

Dennis

Hi Dennis, I recall myself being in the same dilemna as you a year back. You can go to http://www.supermoto.sg and look under the 'Bikes For Sale' catorgory. I believe they have a wide array of 2nd hand DRZs that are decently done up. Should you require more assistance, any of the seniors here (not me) are more than willing to psyche you into believing that it's all worth it. I too was psyche, and I can only say it's really all worth it. Cheers!

Ps: Hepco & Becker's no ordinary ice cream box. I just checked today (cause Im contemplating to get them too), and I was quoted near to $700. You could use that money to do up alot more other stuff if the box is not of your main priority. :)

hey guys, can the dorsoduro fender fit in drz?

Anything's possible if you have the dough..

But a dorsoduro fender should be quite expensive..

Hi unomomento,

Thanks for the great info.

How's the maintenance for DRZ?

In another sticky thread, I've read several posts which listed all the essential mods that I need to do, such as:

1. Manual Cam Chain Tensioner (MCCT)

2. Pulsed Air Injection Reaction (PAIR) Removal

3. Case Savers/Shields

4. Axle Sliders

5. Regreasing

And even more!!

What happens if I do not do it, or the prev owner did not do it?

Does it mean that the bike is going to break down soon, or that I may not have an enjoyable ride?

Just wanna know, because this will help me determine whether to own this bike or not.

Thanks!

Dennis

Hi,

What are the things that I look out for when I purchase a pre-owned (second-hand) DRZ?

Must they be mod?

Or are original (default) parts ok?

Sorry for all the questions. I just wanna make a well-informed decision before owning this bike. ;)

Thanks!

Hi biting_point,

Thanks for the note.

Will the tail-frame of the bike be able to hold the weight of all the 3 alu boxes?

Do I have to strengthen and reinforce the frame?

BTW, how much are the boxes + frame?

Thanks!

Dennis

they should be able to hold out unless you load bricks of gold into your boxes..

stick to the boxes' or racks' weight limit, IIRC 10KG for top box, 7kg for panniers..

The rack comes as a strengthened design.. further addition of crossbars to strengthening only adds weight..

Rack for side and top box should be abt $350.

a pair of H&B alu or gobi is abt $1100.

Top box is abt $500.

For me, i would wanna buy a as stock as possible bike..

As i lurved the process of modifications..

I bought mine with minimal cosmetic mods and then slowly add on..

buying a DRZ is like any other bikes..

Check bike frame, forks and engine for signs of major accident.

DRZs are quite durable and will not suffer from much damage if involved in a minor accident..

If in doubt, always ask a experience friend to follow along.

Hi biting_point,

Thanks for the great info.

Hmm... I don't really have any experienced friend, so is there any information on how to exactly check bike frame, fork, and engine for accident?

And any other things to look out for?

Thanks!:)

When I was out to find my first DRZ, i looked out for namely the milleage, any past falls or misharps to the bike, and whether they were subjected to the hush nature of race tracks. If the seller is keen enough, you could opt to do the meet up at a bike shop of your preference and have them do a thorough check on the bike. Lastly, I went for my gut feeling. I wanted to take over a bike knowing that the previous owner really treasured it. You could check on its past maintenance from the owner, what she is being fed with, and its better if they have receipts to justify, else it all boils down to trust. :)

Thanks for the info and tips.

Is there a bike shop in particular that you'd recommend?

I've registered, now waiting for their approval...

So, you'd not recommend that I get the bike from a bike shop?

Thanks!:)
