just went for servicing today.... find it kinda erm... not like what i expected anyway... like i also can do that kinda stuff u know.. just that it's kinda messy...

ok now new question.. should upgrading of carb come together with the dj kit plus 3 x 3 airbox upgrade?

is it better to put on a K&N air filter after air box upgrade? cleaning that sponge is troublesome man.. still must put it into motor oil... or will K&N be more troublesome?!

anyway just another piece of info for the new DRZ400SM riders... kindy refer to your owner's manual again.. previously i was talking about the layout of your clutch and throttle cables right... please take a look at pg 6-16 and 6-17

you can see a picture of the layout of the clutch and throttle cables... mine wasn't as shown previously and was adviced to relocate them... please make sure your cables are also layed out the same as the pictures.. cheers

If you upgrade carb, than you will not need the buy the DJ kit. DJ kit is for your current Mikuni carb only. If you change to an FCR, you'll need to purchase the James Dean (JD) kit.

Don't think cutting a 3" by 3" hole "upgrades" your airbox. :D But yes the DJ and 3x3 mod should be done together for bigger effect.

K&N also have to oil but not as frequently as a foam filter... although it doesn't hurt to clean it as often as your foam one haha. You will have to rejet due to the higher airflow. Pricewise I'm sure its more than $50.

Hayabusa's replace their ACCT with the APE one shown above. Price was $90 when it was available. Really hard to find it now... or maybe really no shop sells it in SG anymore.

Hi Ktmger! If you're talking about the stock SM, don't think any used ones in the market yet. Such a new bike.

so rejetting for a K&N filter is not exactly a prob actually... if a sponge filter will only last for like say 18,000km maybe can consider a K&N filter that might be able to last longer than that.. correct me if i'm wrong.. because at the end of the day... polyuthrene might not last as long as the stuff used to make K&N now the issue is that the site stated it's for racing only.. so i presume it will not pass inspection or if TP/ROV stop and check, it will be a problem? it's not rare that sg cars are equipped with this filter... so will legality be a problem here?

Posted

Technically it's a mod but it's not a not a highly visble and offensive mod.

(btw that makes Uni, Twin Air, etc illegal too)

I don't think an aftermarket air filter will get you into any problems with LTA.

You don't say, I don't say, nobody knows.

Posted

ohhh ok... with this mod, does that means the fuel consumption will be higher due to higher air intake? that is if the rejetting has been done properly...
