why cannot fix?? is the spring meant for DRZ in the first place..?

well i thought it is for drz as UM took the measurements.

but the spring is too small to fit.

anyways i ordered online for 140+ usd.

Eddie from TT offered to ship it for $130 including shipping but i already ordered.

interested to order the battery bracket from him.

anyone interested?

MCCT is a tricky issue..

it's like when you screw it in, the distinguish sound of chattering went out, but there's still a bit of that sound, makes you wanna turn in that bit more..

What i read in TT is that stop right after the loud chattering is gone, and resist yourself from turning in more even thou you heard some minor noises.. slight ticking is normal for a thumper..

with reference: MCCT install and adjust

ya u took out ur auto or mcct then u run ur engine.can hear.. tap tap sound.

then install ur mcct and adjust till u dun hear it anymore means it is touching the cam chain.

then turn one more round and lock tight it. thats wat mi and raptor did.

so guys if going to do the mcct better becareful ya.

just to add on..

you will need to turn in hand tight first before you switch on the engine..

then adjust until the sound is out, do to be tempted to turn in anymore to eliminate the minor sounds..

never start bike with a loose cam chain..

no im not. i just thought i should stand by the bracket till i change my batt.

i have not heard of lithium batt before, how does it work?

and i have violated both rules for MCCT.

i have over tighten before and i also have started with a loose chain.

didn't know what i was doing!

LOL hope no damage done!

The battery bracket is not worth the 30usd, better to go sengk wang and do it up, just cut out the back of your stock battery box and you can fit the ytz10s batt.

first time see you talk bad abt Eddie's stuff.. :cheeky:

felt cheated when you open the package is it?

hmmm i think raptor told him?

cos i wonder the method tat mech adjust:cool:

slight ticking is normal for a thumper..

yeap, i agree:)

then turn one more round and lock tight it.

adjusting MCCT is indeed tricky, alot of methods, do wat u feel its gd:)

for me also roughly gauge de, but of cos not tight or not too loose

then adjust until the sound is out, do to be tempted to turn in anymore to eliminate the minor sounds..

..

ermm, got any typo? just curious

i have over tighten before and i also have started with a loose chain.

LOL hope no damage done!

no damage for me so far:cheeky:

i done the mistakes before too

The rest of the stuff from him is always nothing short of quality, just that this one is abit too homemade to worth the money, anyway, it's just 2 piece of metal strip that is bent to fit around the batt and welded together, maybe good for USA riders, but with seng kwang available to us, it will be a better choice..haha

Pros here... Overhaul Engine of DRZ cost how much?? Changing the shear in the CAM compartment, bearing and the con-rod in the engine...

My bike is alr in everbright.. They quote me $1k++.. Is it reasonable??

Thanks..

please advise a noob on drz.

good day to all, i have went shopping earlier today for a drz, shd be getting one soon in a month time after i buy a OPC car.

just a few quick Qns and would like to seek the pro's advise.

1. how is DRZ performs as a everyday bike? i used to own a cbr929 and its a overkill for home-work purposes.

2. what are some of the "must have" mods or accessories to add on to it? for example, it is recommend to add engine guard and etc...

3. any known problems?

4. reliability? i am not too sure abt suzuki, but the reviews were raving for this bike.

5. maintenance? some says its pretty much a 2B bike kind of maintenance, true?

6. first hand or 2nd hand?

last Qn:

any aftermarket fuel tank? hehehe....

thanks in advance!

stock one will reap 30km/L on FC..

if you are a law abiding citizen travelling within speed limits, DRZ is a good transport bike.. vibration starts 80kph and above.. long distances are sore to the butt.. but i will recomment DRZ for transport.. I'm using it for transport daily too..

2. what are some of the "must have" mods or accessories to add on to it? for example, it is recommend to add engine guard and etc...

as discussed previously,

handguards, case savers, axle sliders MCCT are the first things to get..

3. any known problems?

most known problems are by luck one, if you are unlucky, you will experience it..

stator nut, primary nut loctite are done for assurance..

if vibration is a problem, DRZ should not be produced..

4. reliability? i am not too sure abt suzuki, but the reviews were raving for this bike.

the same engine was used for 10 whole years in production with no change in specs.. so is it reliable??

5. maintenance? some says its pretty much a 2B bike kind of maintenance, true?

yupz.. 1 sparkplug, 2 bottles of EO..

buy a reusable oil filter to cut down oil filter costs..

6. first hand or 2nd hand?

some ppl like new bikes, some 2nd hand..

i preferred 2nd hand as normally the 1st owner had impacted all the costs and losses when he sells it as a 1yr old bike..

new bikes are quite high in costs now..

last Qn:

any aftermarket fuel tank? hehehe....

yes.. from as small as 7L to 28L..

thanks in advance!

$1k ++ can be from $1001 to $1999.

Can be more specified before we dare to answer you.

Which bearings are you talking about... the conrod lower end or the piston pin? Con rod lower bearing replacement is a complete splitting of the crankcase.. which is as good as total overhaul.

Kallang Boy is.... Abboy Motor Racing aka Boy Johari.

And ya.. he overhauled my engine... had him split open the crankcase and replaced some of the bearings with race bearings. Nothing wrong with the bike actually... I just got this greed for speed and this urge to own not necessarily the blingest but the fastest DRZ in Singapore.

Then I took it to PG and blasted the hell out of the bike and it ran good and has been running good at the tracks these past track days. :thumb:

And if you are free... you can sit there with him and watch him do the bike so that you can see what parts are being replaced with your own eyes.

Some shops will ask you to leave your bike there for a few days... and whether they change out the parts they are charging you for... you will have to have faith in them. o_O
