Hi unomomento,

Thanks for the great info.

How's the maintenance for DRZ?

In another sticky thread, I've read several posts which listed all the essential mods that I need to do, such as:

1. Manual Cam Chain Tensioner (MCCT)

2. Pulsed Air Injection Reaction (PAIR) Removal

3. Case Savers/Shields

4. Axle Sliders

5. Regreasing

And even more!!

What happens if I do not do it, or the prev owner did not do it?

Does it mean that the bike is going to break down soon, or that I may not have an enjoyable ride?

Just wanna know, because this will help me determine whether to own this bike or not.

Thanks!

Dennis

The maintenance of the DRZ isnt hefty compared to other sports bike. Parts are rather accessible and easily replaced in the market.

Manual Cam Chain Tensioner (MCCT), Pulsed Air Injection Reaction (PAIR) Removal, Case Savers/Shields, Axle Sliders, all are good to have and recommended, but no I doubt you'll have a terrible experience without them either. I have friends who are die-hard on keeping their bike as it is, stock. And whether the bike is going to break down is subjected to how you maintain it.

Should you require any help, everyone in this community more than willing to answer your questions, but its advised that you refer to the FAQs first. Some are even willing to meet up just to lend their helping hand (not me, i'm no pro), like you I turn to them most of the time i'm in doubts.

If you follow this forum closely, and judging from your observations that you do, you're able to tell who are the seniors and pros. (certainly not me, i'm just a newbie). LOL!

It's good to know that maintenance is not hefty.

You're really humble! You've been quite a great help so far! (Together with biting_point)... :)

Is there a bike shop in particular that you'd recommend?

I suppose biting_point would recommend Unique Motor (UM) as he did when I first approached him. They're located at either Ubi or Toh Guan, whichever is nearer to you. Most of them here visits UM too.

So, you'd not recommend that I get the bike from a bike shop?

As advised, have a look at supermoto.sg. Most of the bikes are decently done. You can refer to the comments listed under their sales thread as well, should be sufficient to tell you if they're good. I'd go with biting_point on the decision to stick with something towards stock. You'll enjoy the modification process watching the bike grow to your liking, and there's more learning value in that (should you be unfamiliar with whatever the previous owner put in). Above all, you can refer the thread here for clarifications. Anyway, most of them here dwells at supermoto.sg too, they frequent both sites.

Of coz, biting_point is my 'boss', i worship him like god. As they have helped me previously, I just wish to spread that same love. Hope you find your perfect ride soon!

I have just completed Cameron Trip with my DRZ last weekend, the trip is about 640km and I went with a group of class 2 bikers. 6am morning set out and arrived at 5pm afternoon. I am Crusing at 120km/h, My butt is burning even I have put a water bag on my seat, especially tough for a 170km travel during the trip.

After reading yatan73-regok's post, I'm quite concerned how my butt is going to take to this bike. I'm quite big and heavy, so the narrow seat may be a problem for my big butt?

I travel about 45km each trip each day from one end of Singapore to the other to work, and another 45km back.

Will I need a water bag?

whats a water bag? o_O

whats a water bag?

You can buy the bags from Japan Home. Those bags are cushions filled up with water and we usually put them on the hard seat and sit on them. 45km should be OK, your butt starts to burn after about 30mins ride. Of course it's up to the individual.

I'm just curious... Now that the butt is the issue...

Sorry, I know that this is the DRZ thread, but I'm just wondering...

Are there any 2A tourers?

i.e. wider seats and profile, fit for longer distances.

Almost all tourers are class 2, right? e.g. AT, Strom, R1100, ST, Adventure, etc...

Any recommendations?

hmm let me just answer that question for u frm wad i know ba..the term of adding 2t into the fuel is actually called premix. 2t is only required for 2strokers as it is use to lubricate and cool down the engine parts. Most people will premix it if they are not running on 2t pump, but mainly on race or dirt bike. It is more reliable as you wont need to worry about insufficent 2t running on. But you have to mix accordingly to the ratio giving by the oil manufacturer, you cant have it to much or too little.

all 4 stroker run entirely on just engine oil, but u have to choose wad is right for it for example grade of the oil. Not all expensive things are meant to be good on ur ride.

Hi tks ya i have the same idea with you 2.....:)

Good day to all Zees riders,

Just a reminder, for what I know recently there is quit a few Zee bike accessories (eg: handguard, meter, handle bar, slience....etc) being stolen. As a Zees riders could like remind all try to protect your own bike like example try to cover you bike with a canverse at night, use a disc lock to secure your bike, parked in a well lifted light area or fix a bike alarm....etc. As we know Zees bike is prone to high targets for theft. So try to protect your bike. As shown in recently crime watch. If your bike is stolen, u have a hard time looking for it, unless u r luckly to found back. Loss of property is the same as loss of money.....so all please take care. :)
