I always have problem with the tire pressure also... ridin a honda wave r125... keep getting rear tyre punctured very often when using tube...

so just recently changed to sports rim and tubeless... mechanic recommend 250kPA for rear and 220 kPA for front... is this ok?

if it is raining, ur tyre preassure MUST go up.... thats the purpose of the tyre thread...for normal rd use front 22psi back 24psi. becouse as it gets hot the tyre pressure will go up.bt if u r using sotong,u can use 30 psi

Very very sure..... if u lowered down the pressure the tyre thread will not open.the purpose of the tyre thread is for the water...if u wanna try,try using a slick tire during rain... slick tires got no thread.

Ok........but we are talking abt pressure not threads. So you prefer a FULLY PUMPED till burst slick tyres compaired to a less pumped up tyre on a wet day??? Mabbe no need WET la DAMP good enough...

Eh, I always tot it's e opposite, lower pressure on wet ground.

Coz when pressure lowered, the tire outer circumference more "straight" - more tire surface area will touch ground, i.e more traction.

When tire pressure is increased, the tire gets more defined into a curve on the outer circumference, thereby decreasing tire surface area.

No?

slick tyres got no tread, thats y u cant use on wet surface.whearelse normal tyres got thread. thats the purpose of the thread, its for the wet surface....thats y u hav to pump higher than normal for wet weather.the thread is for the water to pass through....thanks if u think i'm wrong, sorry.ask around those serious rider..:thumb:

U r saying tire pressure not high enuf thread wun work as well, therefore not gd for wet road? Is that wat u mean?

So may I noe which is a greater factor for wet road, "thread not working but higher traction" (low tire pressure) and "thread working but not enough traction" (High tire pressure)? :cheeky:

Yishun.........Chapit projectbike.....Cheap is subjective but good is 9/10 IMHO....EO, Motul 5100 good enuf but if got spare $$$ my vote goes to Maxima, Liquimoly or OWS:)

I personally pump more air if it rains.........It's not about traction (wet tarmac, i dunno abt traction), it's about how fast i wanna clear the water....Cos wet tarmac will cause the tyre not to 'expand' to it's fullest due to low temperature.......Wat zac seventy-4 means is dat pump a lil more air so dag the thread will b at it's optimum to clear the water.....take a look at wet weather tyres, u c more rubber or more grooves? the grooves is 2 clear water fast, i duuno wat traction there is when the road is wet.........1 more thing, i hv a diff view on traction n grip (my view)

I may b wrong though, cheers!!!

Modding wastes time n $$$$$?

the 1st 1 I (personally) say yes....anyway under inflation is already not good enuf let alone on wet surface.

for the 2nd 1, like wat joker69 say, a wet weather tyre got more grooves on the rubber....the purpose is to 'throw' away the water....So i go 4 higher pressure for a normal tyre on wet weather...

Correct me if i m wrong, but lo pressure equals more traction? Is dat wat u mean?

Ya, I think so, but like wat Joker69 pointed out, wet road = not much traction to begin with? :cheeky:

BTW Xerox Joker and Zac are you all riding cubs? Cos mabbe due to different bike? I notice cubs tires are slimmer. But hmmm as for the more pressure for rainy days well mabbe you guys are rite thou. but yea mabbe i have my own theory. And i learn something from you guys. Cheers...

i 2nd Zac's opinion. more pressure on wet roads ''opens'' up the groove and prevents hydroplanning. less temperature creates more drag to heat up the compound so it becomes sticky. But in wet weather i dont think it will heat up much at all. Instead a ópen up groove can prevent hydroplanning.
