Chung, i got another 800km to go. Once run-in done, maybe u can lend me ur cDi for 2 weeks to test? If there's a lot of diff, then maybe u can help me "proJekt" on my cDi too. Will blanja u prata or maggi goreng at our usual sPot. :cheer:

yes bro, not a prob. i can run on another cdi, just that top end not so good. u have to try my bike soon man. because its really solid after rejetting. flat spot almost nothing, low rpm from 3 onwards oozes of power. and not forget the shiokness of my topend. now i got to practice throttle control. twist tiny abit can go already. perhaps thats how the derestricted cdi will let u feel.

no prob bro! maggi goreng plus an extra egg will do.

but of course, im using TONGKAT ALI. LOL.

Next meet-up i test ur bike bro. The tiny twist thingy u describing was how my bike was when i just got it. So the feeling sure syiok right!! I'm wondering how it's gonna feel too since u grinning from ear to ear alrdy! :cheer:

Thanks for the information =)

i called mah motors, they quoted me 8.7k for the '06 bumblebee model(rounder head/tail) everything except insurance included. do you guys think its a reasonable buy? i would prefer the sharper details, but if the performance of the bike is better in the '06 models than the newer 1s, that would compensate for the asthetics. thanks!!

hi bro, firstly, the older models are more powerful, more likely to dun have flat spot. but generally, they are harder to maintain, as they are our senior bros already. subzero and lamcrimose bikes are almost 10 years old. theirs come with 34mm carb, so can imagine the power.

okie, 06 is a full power version, comes with a unrestricted cdi, power valve with solenoid unit, rave unit, take note the speedometer shows 0-12rpm max.

on the chasis, it will write there stated 21kw. thats the sign its a full power version.

08 from what i know, is a restricted version. with a restricted piaggio cdi, no valve unit, (explains the smooth climb from from 6 onwards) no rave unit as well. speedometer will show from 2-14 rpm. chasis will write there 15kw or 12kw (sorry cant remember, but definately smaller figure den 21kw)

ok thats the naked eye difference. and pls mind that almost every rs125 got difference. i dunno the reason, but i seen too much examples. same model year, but hell lot of difference with a stock bike. so its best to have someone who is senior, like sub zero aka viknesh, lamcrimose aka lawrence, yoshiki aka aaron, izecubez aka fadil, macan_putih aka khai and also the rest too, to follow u to see the bike. because we know best whats good to go and not.

feel free to contact us, we are more gladly to help u push prices down. lol!

i would recommend buying an 06 version, but pls mind, ppl may tell u its 06 but actually it may be 07 or 08 and worse still, restricted version. u dun wan to pay the same price for a less powered bike. because to derestrict it, may cost u 1-2 k at least. and something to take note, 09 version is also full powered, but is differentiated by paintwork, as spain no 1 is the restricted version. white and black are the two models that are full powered but, pls take a good look like i said, all stock bikes are different man. must know ur knowledge and do ur research well.

cheers!!

Ok best lah u! I'd be glad if u can help do the un-bridging for me too!!! So... I up for you lah. 2 plates of Maggi goreng with egg, and Teh ice plus green tea.

I think will be borrowing by next week lah. Lemme know when can change bro. Surely tonight or sunday night got meet-up. Then i will try if we all meet. Heheh.. :cheer:

Tell them not to bullshit with 8k!

Ask for 50% of their asking price. I got mine in a shabby condition for close to 6k which after doing all the servicing on the bike, its not worth the pricetag they quoted..

u borrowing mine right? im charging u $150 everytime the valve opens.make sure u return to me in a polished like siao,no carbon condition.if it breaks, another $200.mind u, its a brand new valve frm Lawrence. :p

New valves are in. Anyone wants to buy a spare for backup? S$160 each. But the regular chiongsters who meet me up for kopi and DIYs are entitled to discounts of an undisclosed sum... :D come negotiate with me...

Hi Guys,

macan_putih aka Khai is now at A&E (Observation ward) at NUH. Do pay him a visit.

Let me know if you need his full name or IC no.

The hospital told me he'll be at the Observation ward for the next 24hours as of approx 4pm.

Dun ask me what happened or how it happened, because I am as clueless as you guys.

I wanna visit Khai. What's his status? Still in hospital?

Hi Guys, I'm looking forward to getting a second hand aprilia, preferrable the '06 onwards versions for the sharper design. However, i do not know the difference in power/torque btw the '06, '07 and '08 versions. I tested out an '06 version and an '08 version.

It seems that the '08 version has low torque at lower revs? i opened the throttle quite abit at gear 1 and it took about .5 secs before i could feel the power kick in. The rpm was quite fast from 6-11 though, just shot straight up.

The '06 version seemed to have better torque at lower revs, but because the valve was choked i could not tell if the 6-11 rpm was fast.

It would be extremely helpful if someone could advise me on this or give a clearer description on the differences btw the models and which would be more advisable. Thanks alot =)

p.s. are the older models comparable in power to the newer models?

This has nothing to do with torque. Our bikes have a narrow powerband. Anywhere outside of it, torque is precious commodity. From 7,000rpm and onwards, it's a little better. 9,000rpm and above - power is readily available.

anyway, aprilia no good. lousy bike.

i love viknesh and ah seng. ! thanks bro, for bringing my bike to ah seng to service rejet, and tune.

to all newbies, if u bought from other bike shop or mah, and changed ur exhaust, PLS REMEMBER to :

1) ensure woodruff key is being inserted in,

2) rejet ur carburettor.

else, u will never feel the difference, in fact ur bike is losing power.

an advice to all newbies, is , if u bought a new bike, do running in with stock exhaust. after running in, still ride the bike for at least one week to feel the after run in power. den buy the exhaust, go to bike shop to install the pipe. so far the shop i trust is first motor.

den u will feel the difference of adding a pipe.

cheers.

Yes, woodruff key is, in all aspects, the key. BUT! do note that the woodruff advances the ignition timing. So if your bike is not properly tuned, you'll melt a hole right through your piston, commonly known by UK/US race tuners as blowhole seizure, usually caused by advanced ignition. I've seen many pistons like this in a particular bike shop - not a pretty sight. A lot of damage to the other engine components too.

The mechanic couldn't figure out the problem until I told him.

hi my fellow aprilians, a gd news for shell members. Celebrate the launch of new Shell FuelSave 98 and 95 at just $1 (nett) per litre* for a limited time! Hurry, this offer is valid between 10 am and 6 pm only on 24 October 2009. Experience the benefits of the new Shell FuelSave at your nearest participating Shell station and get the most out of every drop!

Thanks for the heads-up! Will pump a full tank later. :)

but perhaps, before u tried, i already change 34mm. lol. ! coz lawrence will eb back on 25th.

I'm back! Just touched down a few hours ago and open the package with your parts like opening Christmas presents.

The 34mm carbie looks so sexy. I've already put it onto my bike for 'quality control testing'. Will hand over to you once I 'certify' it safe and meeting 'international manufacturing standards'.

HEH HEH.... HEHH....

My girlfriend bought the Y2K (Millenium) version, also known as the 'bumblebee butt' version for a stunning..... (drumroll) S$2,000.

It's in great condition, and it's more powerful than my bike. And I do spend a lot of effort tuning my own bike, mind you.

It's common knowledge that M*h takes in crap bikes for a couple of hundred bucks, then sell them for more than many times it's worth, without even bothering to service it nor ensure it's in good condition before selling it.

If you like being a sucker, buy it.

Tell them not to bullshit with 8k!

50% is S$4,300 excluding change of:

- tires (which are guaranteed old and hardened)

- gear oil (old and coagulated 4T, which isn't even meant for 2-strokes)

- 2T (old and coagulated; not to mention oil filter is clogged and you risk a piston seizure, which they WILL REFUSE TO COVER ON WARRANTY by blaming on rider error, even though it is in fact caused by neglect by the shop)

- brake pads (obviously still running on the old ones when the previous owner first purchased the bike - why replace it when it hasn't rotten and fallen off?)

- chain and sprockets (the sprockets need dentures and the chain has rusted stiff)

- air filter (so old and dry from neglect, it disintegrates and WILL cause a piston seizure when the crumbs get sucked into the cylinder; and again absolves the shop from blame as the new owner has already taken over the bike) - blastedgal will testify to that.

- electrical wiring harness (so old, stiff, and f*cked up from being spliced and patched by countless, incompetent mechanics with BLACK TAPE that melts and fall off after a few weeks, leaving fraying wires leaking current so your bike is a time-bomb waiting to blow its fuses and leave you in the cold, stuck on some highway in the rain.)

- piston, balancing gears, clutch plates, wheel bearings, steering cone bearings, brake fluids, coolant, etc...

Jeesuz the list goes on and on and on!

It'll cost AT LEAST S$2,800 to fix it, on top of the S$4,300 that you'll pay, assuming they do agree to sell it to you at that price. If not, it's over S$10,000 to buy and fix an old bike.

Might as well buy a new bike. Or with that kind of money, you can buy 2 new un-Aprilia bikes altogether.

Hi guys,

finally my bike is ok now but the mech somehow fu*ked up my temp sensor and it is now not accurate and show cold even when I ridden it for a while.

Anyone know how I can DIY to fix this? I guess it could be some cable that is loose or something.

I also found out that my fork is leaking. Because there is a scratch at the middle of the fork, I think changing the seal is pointless since it will leak again. Anyone know where to get 2nd hand fork

disappointed and sad rider...I am now..
