lol lawrence, u make my heart itchy , if i were to get almost the same about set up as you are , how much do i have to invest? -> would you mind helping me alittle to tune? my 180km mileage per 10 litres is pathetic and i upshift gears 1 2 3 at about 5-6k , and on the 5th it'd be around 7k before going up to 6 if i under rev , there would be drastic drop of speed when i reach the 6th gear i'm also using del lorto 34mm carb with open air pod ( some 35$ black colour cone shape fliter ) which gives me ****ing big headache when it rains. just that i rode home in the huge rain on a maximum 31km on the metre.

Dude, I know what you are saying. Provide my personal experience is just to remind people don't easily get into those mouth candy from shop, should go there with a clear mind and not do the thing out of your plan even it looks nice. Especially when they seems have everything can do the work with your bike, they still capable to fu*k your bike up.

However, I don't think DIY is the only way out. Still there's shop can be trust and can understand rider's need when you can express it to the mech. As long as you can trade you time with money then you can enjoy the happy hour almost everytime you sit on your bike. Being a rider i believe what you can feel from rider is more important than how good a mech you are to serve your bike.

just my two cents.

Hi Shinya, DIY isn't the only way, but for me it is. I've been disappointed everywhere I've been to, it's hard not to be skeptical.

I believe you're right that some shops do understand and can cater to their customer's needs. I hope you don't mind sharing it with other riders here? :)

I don't mind paying a premium for better service or workmanship. But I must be able to witness it - don't physically throw my bike parts around; don't leave screws lying around to go missing; have proper housekeeping; don't leave unnecessary scars/dents/scratches on parts on my bike that could have been avoided, etc.

Working fast does not mean you must be disorganised and messy. I like to watch mechanics in US and UK work because they are fast and efficient, and the vehicles leave the workshop in a better condition than they arrived in, with no damage to other parts of the vehicle.

I'm getting busier and have lesser time for my bike. I eventually will have to send my bike to be done somewhere instead of DIY. So I'm looking for a shop that can be trusted. Any to recommend? :D

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

How do we say this , And where do we start

Everything hurts, Especially our heart

It hurts us so much, That we can see you no more

I wish we got to say our goodbyes, Before you walked in Gods door

We missed you dearly , And we try not to cry

But we know we'll see you later, So this is not our goodbye

can i know how u get the pics. I think this is the pictures which my parents had asked my brother to take during last month. We ourself as a family have yet to see it. We just got a call from Singapore Embassy just now. Will be bringing his body back from Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah to a local hospital by next few days. We also just got to know his riding a 600cc bike belonging to my cousin instead of his bike. Anyone seen his bike where? My parents had asked me to look for it. We be going up today to indentify it its him. Thanks to those who have pm me to give me the details on how to look for my brother.

Hi, can i know what really happen to Khai? If not convenient, u can pm me....:(

DIY is best lah. Why pay money for someone to do something that you can do better? The only difference is - HE PRETENDS TO KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING. You genuinely don't know, but with research, you'll be better at tuning than some mech who learnt his skills from a sifu who also doesn't know what he's doing too!

Let me tell you all a fact. FINDING A MECH IN ASIA WHO TAKES PRIDE IN HIS WORK IS LIKE FINDING A VIRGIN IN GEYLANG.

Racewerk? Had very bad impression of them @ queenstown....I went there change tires and do dyno to see the map cos at the time i just changed DC valve and not yet fully finetuned. The guy named noman(?) saying how good he is at tuning and showing lots of dyno map to explain. I just give it a try cos i think with dyno can give more objective feedback.

It cost me to change two piston and both reed valve because they open my engine without changing gasket, install some boysom carbon fiber reed valve both didn't put the fu*king valve blade back and it cracked as much as you can image. My bike from a good rev response bike only lack top end power when i push in became a bike can not full throttle at low-mid rpm when i took it back. They claim they already do their best and it took 3 week to "finetune"(I guess even GP bike no need such long time to tune to get an ok setting). It cost me another 700 bucks to fix the damage they've done to my bike. After that i never leave the shops i trust......even there's only them exist in singapore i won't go for them.

Anyway, if just get part from them can. But please make sure go there with clear mind, dun get drunk from the candy from their mouth.

Just my personal experience.

Shinya, I fully agree with you. Some mechanics know how to sweet talk and impress you with their 'knowledge', fooling you into thinking that they know what they are doing. Sadly, it's BS most of the time.

Personally, i dont like this shop at all. At the most, get parts from them. I would never let them touch my bike.

Let me make this very simple. I have not bothered to reply to your queries so far but I want to have my 2 cents now.

If you have half a brain, you would have noticed ALMOST no one here is bothered about your posts. WE DONT CARE. We know for a fact that Khai is safe and sound.

So please, take your stories of bodies coming to Singapore elsewhere and dont pollute this thread. It's extremely irritating. And on top of that, did anyone ask for your comments on the photos Blasted posted up? Wow, I'm impressed. Despite all the worry you have for your missing brother, you're still sincerely interested in asking where she found the photos. Well done! Siblings' love at its peak! From your first post asking for people to PM you whether they know where Khai is, hmph, i was thinking, what a wonderful sister. In ALMOST every other case of a missing person, family members and friends plaster their HP numbers on flyers, forums, newspapers etc. YOU, on the other hand, are so nice and patient to wait for a PM. Riigghhhtt.. I suppose you have nothing to do at home but keep refreshing the Inbox page?

Let me make this short and simple. GET LOST. I'm sick of this stupid posts. You really want to pursue this, call the police, Khai's office. Ask them for help, no one here is bothered.

The rest of you guys, please ignore this drama. Khai is fine.

I beg to differ. My mechanic at braddell is super clean and efficient. Ah Keong, at the Caltex or SPC petrol station along braddell road.

And BikeLab? They recently installed my suspension and had to cut off my old suspension linkage at the screws were seized and jammed. Delicate work with the blade which they did patiently for more than 2hours. I've watched them work before afew times, pretty good in my opinion. Most importantly, they know what they are doing. How many other mechanics have actually been pitcrews for race teams and get called upon to go overseas to repair and do settings for bikes?

Bikelab is an exception. They work on customers' bikes like I would on my own bike.

Haven't tried ALL the workshops in SG, but those major ones that die-hard fans recommend have all been nothing but big disappointments.
