from wat i see.. alot of newbies try to go too fast too early.. end up.. crashing.. so riders who r bringin their frens or whoever new to the track.. pls advise them to discipline themselve.. go slow.. n increase their speed slowly

It's quite simple actually.

1. Take your friends for a weekday session. The distraction and the pressure to speed is lessened greatly.

2. Take that quiet track environment to its advantage; go a few rounds and have your first timer friends follow you. You know, let them get the hang of track riding and going around all the turns.

3. Ask your friend what he wants out from this (and perhaps future) track sessions. Is he there to gain experience only, as in "been there, done that?" Has he gotten interested in committing this motorsport as his occasional hobby, wanting to learn some more?

You know, volunteer to help your enthusiastic friends out if you've been to the track before, lagi best if you've been to track a lot.

For me, IMO i'd advise against bringing first-timers to Trackdays.

U won't be blocking anyone's path. Everyone starts slow. Just be predictable and stick to your lines. The faster riders will find their way around you. Not necessary to give way to them, just stick to your own line and they will just slip past you.

Suggestion:

Wait for a private trackday invitation, like the one we set up in Sepang about 2 weeks ago.

It inlcuded a marshall led ride up to KL in a group, hotel bookings, private trackday with less than 30 bikes, briefing, safety orientation, 5 lap track familiarisation, Q&A with experienced riders present and a bonus ride to Genting led by experienced riders.

We send out an email entailing the plans and what you need to do & have for the weekend once you have registered.

Watch the forum for the next available session.

You pay for everything yourself (but we arrange everything) so you know you do not get cheated, other than the fees (typically RM120 and we have the receipts to prove that there is no profit taken) for the private trackday session, which is needed to confirm your spot.

The only catch is that if you pull out, there is no refund. It has to be done this way since it's "first come first served" reservations and we turn away people once we hit 30-35 bikes.

Unfortunately, we dont do this for Pasir Gudang as it does not meet our safety standards - no proper corner marshalling, no standby ambulance, no proper medics.

Cheers,

Hey dude,

Sadly, some people just do not care or bother about the paying customer so long as the customers pay and they get a profit.

So the only way to make them realise it is to stop going there and let them figure out why.

Safety is something that has been lacking in PG for a long time and even the recent fatalities have changed nothing.

This is evident in other places (I shall not mention names) but nothing will change as long as we as riders do not demand it.

Take a look at all the raw deals riders are getting, then realise that all we do is ***** for a while but stil pay and go on with it.

These people all know that all they have to do is keep quiet, lie low and sooner or later everyone will come back, until the next tragedy.

History proves it.

Want to prove that we have wisened up? - Boycott them.

Cheers,

Hart keep me updated for the next Sepang private trackday. Im interested.

Roger, Scooby51 is working on 2 more private days/weekends for 2009 and one every quarter for 2010.

We will confirm and publish asap so everyone will know and have a chance.

But i got to tell everyone up front that although we take all necessary precautions and try our best, we cannot guarantee a 100% safe trip.

You are your own captain.

yes. unless u understand ur big bike veri well....

and anyway smaller cc bikes are much easier to ride... no need to brake much...

is it adviseable for new riders on the road to try track?

It is definitely a safer place to learn how to ride fast and also learn your own personal limits and ability to ride fast safely.

People who have experienced how difficult it is too slow down a fast moving bike on the track will NEVER want to ride fast or race on a public road which is not a controlled environment unlike a track.

They will learn that not is speeding and racing on public roads dangerous...its also very stupid to do so.

They will learn that it is very dangerous to let their ego control the throttle.
