Rear shocks can be replaced.. in 15-30 mins... 1 for 1 exchange without removing anything else.

Ya totally agree, there isn't a need to remove any plastics or lift the bike off the ground to gain access.

saw a very interesting topbox on a SW this morning at Bt Panjang... idea :thumb:

noticed that owner fabricated a baseplate using aluminium plate and used rollers... idea but tot it would have been better if the nuts are placed inside the box or to use security nuts. leaving the normal nut outside means people can easily remove the box using just a spanner or plier.

in case you're wondering if it's a malossi box, it ins't. its a waterproof equipment case with a malossi sticker on it.

wonder we'll get to see a rattan topbox one day

Kai[/MENTION];7568621]Hi there.. any recommended shops for respray of sw600..thanks

i think the 2 more popular spray shops around is Replica and Yeow Motor.

i resprayed my whole SW at Replica in 2009... nice job. Replica is known for being generous with it clear lacquer to produce a "glassy" shine; a few workshops told me the same thing. thick lacquer has risks of "tears" if not done properly. thin lacquer layers are easy/cheaper to do but can't get that "glassy" look.

* Replica's job is good and cost me $460; including patching up the scratched surfaces but excluding dismantling and refitting the tupperwares. think prices have gone up to about $500 but not sure.

* workshops usually charge about $80-100 to dismantle and put back the tupperware, including stowing the bike while it's naked. DIY? but where you keep your naked SW?

this is Replica's webby but note that they have moved... i dunno where :p

http://www.replicaspraypainting.com/

suggest you call them to find out location and quote; Ah Koon is the boss.

These 2 nuts at the top of the shock tower should be able to remove w/o taking out the underseat. However access is tight and you'll need a long handle.

Just park at MSCP and keep bike covered. If just the painted plastics fairing, not really a lot of parts. Some also take out pillion pegs, handgrips, front compartment, petrol cap area, etc to spray at the same time.

I am afraid that the compartment will block the space when you slide out the rear shock...Anyway after changing coolant I noticed the coolant temp always shows 3 bars whereby before changing the coolant it is always at 2 bars unless at traffic light it become 3 bars where the fan kicks in...Still havent ride long enough to monitor...Is it normal at 3 bars??

BTW if you feel that your front is shaking try to harden the shock. If you got fully adjustable shock, then slower the compression...Why the front is shaking at speed maybe because the rear is heavy when you accelerate and your front become light that will cause some head shake..My current setting on rear shock is at the 5 hardest..

Mine has always been on 3 bars when fully warmed, even on original coolant. :)

What coolant were you on previously? Saw that it's purple mixed with green.

The slight wobble is on deceleration at about 40kmh when lightly gripping the handles. Doesn't quite borther me since usually grip normal pressure. More of tyres as it was fixed the last time when I changed them.

Look nice but must add the controller and the fan...

If small enough should be ok...Like HID a ballast is also needed...

Very close to HID in term of light output.....
