Battery flat after 5 days to one week no ride. Has been raining for white a while. Got my brother to jump start with his car. I rode for about 40km and parked on Mon night. Tue morning start it was okay. Thursday evening wanted to warm up but flat again. Battery faulty already?

Bike should still start 2 to 3 weeks without touching it.

Standard battery lasts 1.5 years or more.

It is either battery need replacement (highly likely) or some where the cable connection is leaking.

Then I think it's time to change. I have been using this battery for more than 1 and a half year since I took over the bike. Never changed before.

Where is the best place to buy and how much is it?

Hmm... Standard battery info must search our SW Tech thread.

Many already changed to the Lithium type, available in SBF sales section.

Hi Guys,

I am thinking of getting a Honda Silverwing 400cc.

I am new to biking after many years of not riding.

May I know if anyone could tell me where to get the bike and the cost?

Please PM me as I don't check forum often. Thanks in advance !!!

If you are always touring, can get the SW.

Smooth engine with big storage but the weight... too heavy.

Cost around S$19k OTR.

If for local riding or shorter trip up north, then there are many other options available at cheaper price (14K+/-).

All are much lighter by about 30 to 50kg.

1. Sym, MaxSym 400i

2. Kymco, Xciting 400i

3. Piaggio, MP3 400

4. Yamaha, Majesty 400

Can check with M1 Motor, ASPhoon, etc.

Based on your descriptions, i'ld say the battery needs to be changed cos it's likely it has reached/near the end of its life cycle; cos no longer able to hold charge over time as compared to normal conditions. Some say batts could be revived if deterioration is due to sulfation, but IMO, it's only a short term solution.

Some info about batts at Tech Corner:

* Battery & Fuses (Part 1)

* Battery & Fuses (Part 2)

* Troubleshooting Battery is Damaged or Weak

Then I think it's time to change. I have been using this battery for more than 1 and a half year since I took over the bike. Never changed before.

Where is the best place to buy and how much is it?

depends on which type of battery you want... standard maintenance battery (YTZ12S or YTZ14S) or lithium battery?

if standard batt, i'ld recommend you to buy the YTZ14S with higher capacity over the YTZ12S, costs only $10+ more.

best price seems to be at KS Motor along Jln Besar (opposite Regina across the street).

* Contacts & Lobangs: Where To Get Those Stuffs?

if riding pattern is like mine, very light usage (e.g. only once a week), i'ld recommend a lithium batt; yes, it's more expensive than the standard maintenance battery.

some of our kakis have bought from the MO ($240 for a 12 cell unit), i'm using the Skyrich ($198 for HJTZ14S, see my review) :p

for a cheaper upfront price, u have to forgo honda's excellent built quality. try finding a spot of rust on the honda, its not easy.

IMO, high speed stability is excellent. few scoots allow for constant speed @ 130-140kmh, bends and e-lane changing included.

weight issue? changed to aftermarket exhaust n lithium batt then, a big sack of rice reduced.

AN650L3 (current): All mod transferred.

SW-T400 (till oct 13): voltmeter, safety features disabled. coocase v36+remote. Adjustable, folding Brake levers. Givi AF318 windshield. on-off switch(pilot light, head light, hazard light), electrical seat unlatch,Dr pulley.

AN400K6 (apr07-dec11): side deflectors, J Costa variator, Dr pulley slider + HiT clutch.

YP250, RVF400/RS250, NSF125.

comparing to the taiwanese n piaggio and my burg400k6, honda prob lost only in the power/weight aspect (storage as well for the burg400). even my current burg650 is not as obedient at 140kmh.

wats ur take as current owner of swt n c650?

yup, that's the main purpose

nope, it's not so strong as to push the seat open automatically after you unlatch it.

but it does help to "push" the seat open after you lift the seat up to a certain angle.

yup, it's very easy to DIY.

OMG... did i see a hole being cut out of the top cover in order to mount the holder?

no lah, its not a hole, its your handlenbar screw itself.. they use an extended handlebar screw. No hole is cut to the top bro.

No worries.
