but hor... why didn't consider adding another 55 bucks to get a lithium batt?

imo, the 55 bucks was well spent as it held charge rather well, especially when i ride like once a week and have occasionally 2-3 weeks gaps :thumb:

Hi Guys

Just gotten my SWT from Bike production after 3months plus of long wait, got a number of questions which need some answer from the experts.

1) Tyre pressure, do I follow what is stated 29F and 33B w/o pillion and 29F and 36B w/ pillion?

2) What is the servicing routine like? (Oil change, oil seal, belting etc)

3) Which workshop is recommended for servicing?

4) Is there a huge difference if I change my exhaust?

Sorry for the number of questions, scooter noobie.

Thank you in advance!!!

Cheers!

Hi Darkcrew

Welcome to the SW community

We have a rather comprehensive Tech Corner which contains many useful FAQ and "poisons", do check it out and you'll find many of your queries answered.

[h=1] Silverwing 400cc / 600cc Tech Corner[/h]

Do feel free to pop by our every Thursday gatherings at The Rail Mall Coffee Bean (aka HOM clubhouse). Although TCSS starts about 7.30pm, most of us are there by 7pm for dinner.

Hi ScoobyDoo

Sorry I did not find the answer in the Silverwing 400cc / 600cc Tech Corner.

Will you be able to advise?

Posted (edited)

allow me to show where you can find all most (if not all) your queries are addressed at the Tech Corner.

btw, your new SW should come with a owners' manual... many useful info (including maintenance schedule) are inside.

at the Tech Corner ... SW Owners Manual

1) Tyre pressure, do I follow what is stated 29F and 33B w/o pillion and 29F and 36B w/ pillion?

see page 44 of link

most of us follow but some of us solo also pump with pillion spec, i.e. 200 & 250

2) What is the servicing routine like? (Oil change, oil seal, belting etc)

see page 89 to 91

most of us don't follow exactly... also see post on running in Running In

e.g. some of us change engine/final drive oil every 5K km (after run in), change 3-in-1 every 20K

3) Which workshop is recommended for servicing?

* Contacts & Lobangs: Where To Get Those Stuffs?

there's a section listing recommended workshops.

4) Is there a huge difference if I change my exhaust?

* Street Legal Exhaust for SW (Arrow)

* Street Legal Exhaust for SW (Leo Vince)

there's only 2 street legal exhausts for SW... no review of the exhausts inside though.

common feedbacks:

* bike feels smoother, but makes a lot more noise

* better acceleration, but burns more fuel

added...

Get exhaust bro. Will improve on performance. I'm getting 21km/l. Aggressive riding too.

So far I haven't re-tune anything yet. Have yet to check my air filter and spark plugs. Intend to do the air filter and replace to iridium spark plugs and then go for synchro. With baffle, sound is just a little louder than stock. Still very quite just that the droning sound is slightly more obvious. Typical of a parallel twin cylinder engine. Maybe you want to meet up and hear for yourself.

Bro btw after installing the full system, did u send ur bike for a re- tune? Or is not require?

Tempting to replace buit just afraid I will miss out the smooth quite sound produce will stock exhaust.. Lol

added...

my recommendation is to use the stock exhaust for now, till such time you're sure you want to experience the difference. who knows if you'll fall in love with the very "silent"-n-smooth SW running on the stock exhaust.

fyi, some of us stick with our SW because of its silky smooth parallel twin engine, and its stock exhaust looks pretty slick as well. imo, the SW is designed to be a smooth cruiser (considering its power to weight ratio), not as a chiongster like TMax.

cheers

Hey Scoobydoo

Appreciate your effort.

I went down to BoonSiew for my first servicing. Quite good service.

I will try to join you guys meeting at railway mall next Thursday, haha can steal some tips from the old bird.

The bike so far quite smooth but power wise a bit disappointing for a 400cc. Smooth engine no doubts.

In short nice ride!

So I went to K&T on Sat morning 9am to get my tyres changed after calling them on Thursday.

And I had specifically asked on the phone if they have stock for Pirelli front and rear.

Turns out that they do not have stock for the rear.

Omg.

When my SW-T is 7 years... should be able to clock slightly more than that.

Now at 34k per year mileage = 130k on the meter.

Hehe. SW all the way!
