Yamaha ones should be around $18.

 

diy better.. chong aik selling the air filter i tink $8 or $9... not dat hard....

for me lah... feels nice if u can do certain tings urself..

Have you checked your battery? If not, then i guess i have the same problem as u previously but now seems better after i went for full service. Wash carb, change air filter etc etc...

 

can't be the battery problem leh bro. i just changed my battery like 4 months ago when the bike couldn't start. one more thing about battery uh, how u know when the battery gonna die uh? use multimeter measure or what? cause i got led also then seems like horn, led and iu all plug to battery for power one leh, i scared die very fast. and for full service how much did you pay for it and what does it consist of ? where did you go for it? hahaha sorry ah i ask alot.

Bro could it be ur pistons??? hehehe.... When u kick, is the compression very strong?? Is there any white smoke from ur pipe??? These are tell tale signs....

 

If want to service engine, i recommend you do in singapore ah better... If anything problem, easier to rectify....

" mana ade free? ade pegi ade balik tau!" haahaha aku tak faham langsung part ni. as for the kickstarter, to check the compression, i do what, start engine den in neutral gear, push down kickstarter? no compression leh. as for the money part, i think for it to be power again, i willing to fork out money la. just want it to be swee sweee.

No need start engine. Just push down the kickstarter. If can start usually means got compression already. :cool:

no bro... if compression is low also can start.... The resistance u get when u push down ur kick starter with the ignition off... thats to check ur engine compression....

 

Last time before i overhauled, i can start the bike with my hands.... Now after, no way i can start the bike using my hand...

also when u mentioned that you don't mind spending, so your bike swee swee... Get a friend to look at it first before you kena carrot by shops... Some shops love to hear people say that phrase.... Once you get a friend to look at it, and you know the cause of the problem... Go to a recommended shop to have it done... Some shops use local parts, but claim its ori parts or even worst 'racing' parts...

I was under the impression that he wants to check his engine compression. I am able to start my bike with my hands. Same goes for my other previous bikes. Ones that uses kickstarters of course. I think you slack too much after getting married already. Time to start working out! :cool:

lol dont understand still, so to check compression, i have to put in my key, turn to on, den kick start isit, or no need key just kickstart? i was thinking if kickstart without putting key in, can start the bike meh? and what's with the compression, higher or lower compression good? and if it's not compression problem leh, den how. sorry ah, i think i really burden to u all LOL. :sian:

Its normal. You can't expect to understand everything if you study today for an exam tomoro. As the saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day". It takes time. And when you think you have learned alot you will realised there is so much more to learn. Learning is a never ending process. :cool:

should list down recommended shops to service our bike or change parts. At least we know which shop good with spanks (other than hakim shop cause the mechanic pro already).

hanif dont worry la your engine everything still stock nv touch wont affect compression one. just change your engine oil oil filter spark plug regularly or go full service. AND TIGHTEN YOUR CHAIN.........

WHO SAID MY NAME?! I heard my name. Anyway 4 strokes usually have higher compression than 2 stroke bikes. It's just the way the engine works. But the reason why spark is so easy to start is because of the decompression assembly. There's a catch at the end of the camshaft which activates below 200 rpm. I think it's 200 ah. But i know it's really really low rpm. The reason for this is because low compression bikes are easier to start, especially with kickstarter. Because of this, the spark can have a higher compression rate and still be easier to start.

 

Okay let's learn about what the compression ratio is. The compression ratio is the ratio of volume at BDC (Bottom dead centre) : volume at TDC (top dead centre). So the volume of BDC is your displacement + Squish band. The volume at TDC is just the volume of the squish band. Displacement u cannot change unless u alter the BORE or the STROKE. Which means u change to a big bore kit to increase bore, or u change your crank pin to increase stroke. Leceh rite? The next best thing to do is to decrease your squish band, to increase compression. This is where high compression pistons, high compression gaskets come in. High compression pistons have a higher dome, compared to normal, stock pistons. High compression gaskets, they're just thinner gaskets, not magic.

 

So what's the squish band? Wait for lesson 2 tomorrow :thumb: This is a pic of the decompression assembly circled in red.
