Hi guys I'm back, read till page 152. Quite tired already. Learn quite abit. Guess I shall mod stability and safety before speed.

Read something of a "floating disc", which doesn't lock the disc. Anyone care to comment and where to get it?

Wah see.... Thats a great question.... I applaud u..... Floating disc is not cheap.... All those oversize disc from RB is floating disc but not much movement allowed... And in order for you to get the floating disc to actually werk, your caliper needs to some sort of float or not fixed also. This will allow you to brake in corners.... I think that is my 2 cents on the floating system....

Sent from my iSimiLanJiao @ Mt Akina, Gunma

Floating discs actually aid in the cooling process. And floating discs can reduce heat transfer to the hubs itself, means all most of the heat will stay on the outer part of the discs. There's also cross drilled and slotted discs, that one can go read up yourself. Haha. Anw my info may be wrong, so just do your own research and double check. Don't be lazy.

Chain tensioner, been wanting to get it but haven't seen anyone with it till today, but Malaysian bike. Worth to get it?

There's a reason why manufacturers don't use that chain tensioner. Anyway i've seen a few of those "chain tensioners" break. So it doesn't last and it doesn't really work. If u say for cosmetic purposes also, i'd say it makes your bike more "kecoh". Keep it simple sudah. And yes don't be lazy. Check your chain tension once a week or a few days once will suffice. Take care of your bike and it'll take care of you. Don't forget to clean and lube your chain. Dry and dirty chains have a shorter life span.

Its good to know eventhough you just started riding, you've done your reading way before & know your things. :thumb:

Rather than someone, ride for years but know nothing, which is pretty weird.

Sorry, i know you meant me.

How about Swageline by Plot? That would be awesome.

That's abit distant. My Japanese neighbor need ask his Japanese friend whose working at that Semi Japanese owned motorshop.

Forgot something bro. Discs don't fade that easily, because they dissipate heat better. One of the biggest enemies of riders who practise very hard braking is brake fade. Happens when actual operating temperature of the discs/pads go out of the optimal operating temp of the discs/pads. So yes another advantage of discs is that u can use larger ones so the cool down faster to avoid brake fade.

My apologies but I had assume most riders would know heat accumulation cases brake fade.

Depending on the type brake pads as different pads have different optimal operating temperature. Some pads have poor efficiency in low temperature which are not suitable for road use. Example, my current front brake setting sucks in the wet.

Larger is one way to increase cooling down but other options could include thicker rotor and toothed/flowered rotor.

Then again, small bike really don't need the overkill, unless you either have lots to splurge or like riding in the circuit.

With regards to Floating disc inquiry from a fellow bro;

There are three types of brake rotors: solid, semifloating, and full floating. With a solid rotor a single piece of metal is bolted to the wheel. With semifloating, you have a center piece and a separate outer part that the brake pads touch and the two are connected by a bunch of round "buttons" that allow a small amount of movement between the two. With full floating, the braking surface is relatively loose so that it can move around to hopefully become in perfect alignment with the pads.

Full floating rotors are less likely to pulse than solid or semifloating rotors. Most racing bikes have full floating rotors. Full floating rotors make noise at low speeds as the parts move around, since they're kind of loose. Semifloating rotors don't make the noise.

I'm using a semi floating thou, not much difference to me. Inquire with Brembo and they do not produce their full floaters for our model.
