Probably late '05 to early '07? Coz my friend's X1 is FBA plate, registered Nov 2005. So im just giving it a rough estimation. $3000 i think can get at least FBC plate. Look around at the Used Bikes section & survey the price.

I personally do not like the idea of servicing my carb as the carburettor serves two purposes; one is to manage the mixture of fuel that goes into the engine, the other is to separate water from the fuel. If you setting is right, the only reason for such "servicing" is to drain excess water out from the carb which users are able to via the drain screw at the sediment bowl which is usually found at the bottom of the carburettor.

 

Rest of the above are things they throw in to make the list look long hence user feels that the amount they pay are worth it. (I.E. all the items which are "check")

 

 

Top Servicing:

What I refer to as Top Servicing will be as below (Plucked from HL Cycle)

(Svc Carb, Cam Cover O-Ring, Water Pump O-Ring, Valve Seal, Spark Plug, Oil Filter (OEM), Engine Oil, Block & Head Gasket) - $100

Purpose of doing a Top Servicing is to clear accumulated carbon through usage. (I had assume you ride is currently stock and the performance has deteriorated compared to a new ride, hence I recommend doing a top servicing)

 

Please note that when going to such servicing, the mechanic will usually ask you to change parts such as Rocker Shaft, Piston Pin and etc. Please use your own judgement on severity of wear before deciding if you really need to change it.

 

 

With regards to enquiry on brake system:

Remember when you took your motorcycle licence and the instructor told you the 70-30% rule when doing the emergency brake? For me, I would use the same equation when it comes to importance of my personal brake system. I would only advise on the front as the rear is replied by Spanker LimAhWan

- Oversized Disc (Usually in JB, you can get them in a set together with Racing Boy rims)

- HH or Better Brake Pads (Braking, EBC)

- Steel Braided Hose (Hel, Venhill, Swage, etc. Please avoid unknown or non reputable brands)

- Better Grading Brake Fluid (Motul RBF600, etc.)

- Bigger Piston sized master pump

 

 

On other note:

With an enhanced braking system, you might need to consider rebuilding your front fork with a slightly heavier fork oil. Also do note that with a heavy load and hard braking on such a small bike, it could be rather stressful to the front fork oil seal which in turn might cause it to leak.

Wah i love your replies. Can leave all the tech talk to u alr. Yes and do note the stuff in bold, u can change the weight of the fluid but not the amount. Too much fluid can leak your seals easily.

You want to mod or make it better is never ending.... It all boils down to how much u willing to spend... I know some people who have spend more den 5k doing up their spark... Hehehe...

For 1-2 years use, i would suggest u not to splurge so much.. Juz my 1.15cents...

Got alot of pump u can use. U want i can sell u mine. I not using. CBR6/ZX6 master cylinder with titax lever. Cheap cheap.

I spent around 5k as well... but my appearance is like stock bike leh. Slow plus got box somemore.
