What is your/your camp-mates vocation sia?

I mean 3 years back, for me riding a S4 during NS, was already like sooo good!

 Reli salute y'all but hope you don't have to eat grass & drink water (plain) every day to support the bike..:cheeky:

medics, provosts, drivers.. usually s4 is a common sight..

my OC is an NSF and he drives an RX8 and a BMW.. :thumb:

I know S4 is common..but its the K7s, K8s & R6s, that I'm shocked about!!

Even guys with full-time jobs(affordable pay) sometimes feel the pinch!!

Anyhow, hope you guys enjoy ur ride...

As for your OC; he must be from a rich background..so no comparisons there!!

I find that keeping a bike in NS 2B or 2A is ok.. Though park at the car park and only use for night's out and book in/out is a bit wasted.. But overall i find it's best.. Imagine other pple slowly walking to the gate then you just ride out and can reach home faster.. That's what i feel.

I dunno cos when i'm in NS, i ride a Spark and i find it's quite affordable. Only need to change EO + plug and no need pay season parking.. haha.

Me too don't advocate selling off your bike. But even with bike, I hope you don't rush from point A to point B.

I was ever on CTE when I saw this private in Navy uniform riding Kup kia got into an accident. Perhaps he was riding too fast, perhaps he was rushing for time. Got all his 5 fingers all broke when he crashed and skidded into my bike.

That was terrible. So I only advocate you riding a bike during NS if you hate the crowd. All in all, still ride safe. Personal transport does not mean speedy transportation.

Cheers.

puzzling to me y pple want to sell their bike when they are in ns for the reason that in army they are poorer.. my allowance in the army was much higher than my allowance from my parents when i was in poly! by the way, i was not even an officer.

anyway, i think having a bike is useful when you are in ns..

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

I am a permstaff in Ladang camp. Where is that? BMTC. Frickin' Tekong. And I stay at the other end of the island. No way am I selling my bike now. God bless my s4 faithfully waiting for me at SFT every weekend. Public transport would probably take me 1hr++ to get home. The bike will only take a mere 20 mins to get there. So definitely am not selling my bike now!

some pple actually do work part time while studying in poly or jc and can earn up to 1000+ a month not including allowances from parents, which is equivalent to an officer pay in NS. So going into NS is like a pay decrease.

Oh, and y sell bike when u in NS? Maybe ride one day got chance to buang and accident. Then can take MC from camp for a few weeks? and light duties for maybe a month? Relax in camp. no need train hard :cheeky:

Depends whether your NS in SAF or home team...and what is your vocation after the basic training...

Of course best is a cheap 2B bike with no installments to pay..that way helps a lot during NS..

I live in the north, and my base is at Tuas. I book in and out daily for ops, and am recallable anytime. I actually took my bike license because of this. My ops timing are weird, and sometimes I only get to go home after public transport services have ended. So having a bike is a convenience for me.

And like some have said, you won't know what vocation you will get (unless you mono-intake), so wait until you're posted to a unit to decide.

I own a bike throughout my NS life.

first 6 mths trainee life ( BMT + Unit training ) stay in

next 18 mths, on shift work. Ride bike to camp maybe 15-20mins. Public transport will take about 1hr or more.

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:

when u are serving ns.. Bike is ur girlfriend, your buddy, your workhorse, your best companion.

You can give girls rides, reach places fast, reach home fast, reach camp fast. Your non-biking friends envy u. You feel happy at the end of the weekend after all the **** u must kena; you still have something in ur miserable life than makes u proud.

You smile when u sit on it, freedom compared to the rigid camp life.. engine start, go shopping, go meet friends, still can reach home not so tired.. No need to spend on taxis.. On call, no cab, Kan Cheong..

Cant ride to camp? Just wear rain trousers/ normal jacket over ur uniform. and ride to nearest public carpark near ur camp. Cover ur bike and lock properly and ur a secret biker.

Hell no to selling my bike. During and After NS.

Bro smgoh6,

Riding whilst in uniform is not an offence.

As a matter in fact you can ride to the nearest carpark with your no.4 on.

If you are scared/not sure, then wear top + bottom la...

riding using your combat boots not against the law.

the few years after i just ord-ed, i've gone touring with those boots. no problem. even malaysian tp also don't question.

just my $0.02

Goodee hor hot goodee... Mat witz sebastian! :p
