Ha, they lowered the price. The bike had been there since Dec 04. When I asked them for the price last Dec, I was quoted 14.8k if I pay full cash, 14.5k if installment (6% p.a.), now 13.8k. Hitachi Credit charges 4.5% p.a. for 2 & 3 yrs loan.

Yes, they wan to charge me GST too.....

We discussed that before regarding the GST. There's someone, I can't remember, saying GST does not apply to 2nd hand bike. Pls take note.

i think "Southern" is full of crap & snob sometimes, has used to frequent them many years ago as long as 16yrs ago when i am riding my Italia NS125R. Very dis-honest & no business ethic practice by their 2 main jokers there, even until now they never change their negative business approach. THese sentences r just my opinion, my apology if i offended anybody here.

My suggestion to u is to b patience if u truely wanted to buy a Divvy.

Things to look out for :

1) Is d price inclusive of 1st party insurance & road tax? If not how much for your age?

2) Am i allow to change to 2nd party insurance after 1 yr of riding d bike, even though i still have installment to pay?

3) Just tell them u r not willing to pay d extra "GST". d price u r willing to buy & any others extra cost u need to pay. Dont let them control u, cos u r d buyer. Just walk away if he do not want to compromise.

4) ask them for new set of BT020 tyres, with no additional charge.

5) may even ask for free helmet, rain coat, bike cover, engine oils etc.

Bikes itself to look out for

1) is d petrol tank rusty.

2) r d brake calipers, disc-brake, brake cable & clutch cable rusty & faulty.

3) r d lightning switches in good working condition, especially d reserve light.

4) r d tyres thread going to last u for at least 1 yr.

5) check for tyres alignment.

6) is d battery in good working condition, ask them to check d battery amperes in front of u.

7) Is d choke working

8) any un-usual sound from d engine?

9) Does d bike need scychronization?

10) Any scratch or dent? Thus, may ask for more bargain.

11) if d bike comes with coolent, open d cape & check for slump.

12) r d rubber hoses hardened & need replacement?

13) Last but not least, i am not going to pay for any replacement for any of these listed.

Divvy is not rare in S'pore, not forgetting TP r using it as well. Thus, spare parts r affordable to your tight piggy bank.

:sorry: that mush info i can help u?

Hi Sun.......

My choke is being locked by the factory. Some how they barred me from using the choke.I never believe in choke.Even my last CB1000, I've never used choke.Same as my other pre-owned bike As SG informed you that when cold start, hold the throttle for a few sec.Anyway Yamaha XJ9 shaft was proven by touring the world at 250 000 km by a Dutch couple with no problem....... :thumb:

Hi OMD,

I've heard about your slogan, this is a lame excuses bro!...there are tons of nice words to say!!!

Never mind about your slogan - :spam:

Where did you do your handle-bar ends (balancers) need the address thing of doing for my bike to add the extra weight to the handle.

After replacing with the TDM mirrors the handle is very light- the OEM XJ9s' mirror is very heavy 1 mirror equalent to to 2 tdms' mirrors- in weight!

As Euro went thru his latest trip.........After traveling thru some kilometers of uneven terrain- hardened ground and gravel roads his "R" mirror 'Y' bracket- gave-way the mirror was heavy and cannot take the vigorous pounding thru out the uneven road.

So, light mirror is a good option, but need to compensate the lost weight at the handle bar ends-(with heavier balancers).!

SilverGhost,

The bar ends are custom made according to your specifications in terms of weight. They are made by the frame sliders people.........Motovation. I got the whole thing arranged via my mechanic. You can do it yourself through the Motovation website, they have some HP numbers you can call. The chap handling the sales is very helpful and friendly.

The weight would help to dampen the vibrations, but not eliminate it. You will feel the difference, but do not expect it to totally disappear (the vibration that is). Adding too heavy a bar ends or also known as balancers, will have a reverse effect, so do be careful.

Me thinking of switching to TDM mirrors too. Will contact you soon for the know-how.

That is all folks.

Juz to add sometin for the choke.

Find it very very useful when ur bike are not used for long period of time(abt 6 month for my case).

Crank till battery flat also can't start.

Until i try to pull the choke and with a few secs, the engine come to life.

Try it for a few times and it always works.

Else it is useless.

Hi Custom,

In your case the carburettors' reservoir dried out...uNcLe!! 6 months loh...lucky for you- battery acid never dry up...

Too long never use your- bikes engine oil starts to break down..it's looses its property to protect the engine! the engine oil filter get choked too, it end up bypassing the unfilter oil back to the engine.

My advised is to change your engine oil and filter, slightly earlier then the usual mileage set by the manufacturers recommendation.

Yes, in your case using the choke benifits you. So time to time service the cable(lubricate it)..it can last the bikes life time!

SOS! Just discovered that some exhaust fumes are coming out from the gasket area. Is this normal? Though it did not affect the ride but I'm very curious as to why. :giddy:

My Mirror fracture.

Location of structural fracture is directly below the Y-joint of the Right mirror (just at start of threaded length of screw) and the lock nut. Noticed a GAP there? The Left doesnt have.

Some of the contributing factors for joint to fracture:

1) Very high frequency of vibrations (FEA).

2) Mirror length to long.

3) Stress build up at the “Gap” due to mirror motion.

Solution:

1) Don’t go thru excessive bumpy terrain for more than 6 hours.

2) Change or shorten mirrors

3) Add a washer at the “GAP”, so that vibs can generate to other places, eg "Balancers". Same idea as to why Left mirror had no problems.

My point of VIEW, I don’t think the Screw of the mirror will ever fracture on normal roads for years to come. That road i traveled was a terror... Bikers who went thru will agree too (shortest route between Poi Pet and Siem Reap)!

Some nice mirrors i have seen, is the TDM's and the ones found on Custom's divvy. For me... i still like the originals... :D :D

Hi fooz,

The panniers found on Divvy is made by Krauser. This same design can be used for other bikes, for example it is also made for Yamaha GTS1000 (Seen the same boxes at motoworld?). All that was changed is the Tag on the box doors and the brackets used.

It is smart looking but needs to drill holes on the side covers of the bike. Krauser now have a set of new design and bracket system that dont require drilling any holes. In the EU, they mostly use Givi.

You may want to check out Jleo's krauser...!  Let the fat lady sing...!

Hi Casper,

Screeching sound is normal to new SBS pads - ? those new brake pads have not settle down to the season(worn) grooves of your disc(rotor) but it is a small squeek only..! there's nothing to worry about!! this pads won't wake up your neighbours :giddy:

As what I said, during washing/shampooing down your bike- spray water into all the rotors to remove those brake pads dust, once the brake pad is clean or free from dust -there won't be any screeching sound until the dust starts to collects again. which is only a small bad point for SBS but the braking power is very good :lovestruck: price wise it is in- a very comfortable range...! $28/-per set.

EBC produces less brake pad dust- braking power is very, very good- you would not have heard about any noises from those pads- price wise you guys know better ....blink, blink$$..
