yo bro eastwind....

:nono: To bad that HL or in Singapore you can't see xtz850 Super Tenere made by YAMAHA! FYI...that this bike is the king of all terrain.the engine is a twin parellel.this bike has won 9th time Paris /Dakkar rally :bounce: until it was banned by the FIM.It was ridden by Stephane Peterhansel of France.Manage by Yamaha Moto France.Even the Africa Twin was a looser....no match! It was said that other motorcycle makers were complaining that their market share were plundging.Thats where now you see BMW.KTM etc are picking up.If not.... too bad. There is one Super Tenere in Singapore at Bukit Timah area.could'nt meet the owner...white in colour ...residing near Hillcrest off Adam road. :shades:The predecesesor of the engine is in the tdm900.If only Super Tenere was in singapore...bye-bye AT..Well that is the short story of Super Tenere by Yamaha...and I WONDER if the AT riders knew about the xtz850...I  wonder!

Thank you for the brief history of the Super Tenere and their performance in Paris Dakar. I'm fully aware of the performance as I followed the Paris Dakar very closely.

Africa Twin's fore father NXV650 was competing with Super Tenere back then. Yes, it's true that it's a waste to stop the production. But AT's still one of the proven bikes available in Sgp, in terms of durability, fuel consumption.... I'm not trying to sell AT, maybe U can drop by any Thurs nite after 10pm, at Bedok Market Place, maybe we can discuss further.

FYI, we AT owners don't just ride around in Sgp, or as far as Phuket oni. We had touched as far north as GT, as far east as Hanoi. So that's why I said it's proven bike. Maybe U like to do some studies 1st. Till then pal!

Hi Eastwind,

are currently trying to find ways to China.

You know how to ?

I don't mind riding from Sg to China but just need the way to get by the China custom. Believe that there is some special permit to let us ride in China but very very rare......

Else I've to get another bike in China.

Thanks!

:sorry: I'm sorry to say that there's no way of riding our own bikes into China, be it on the Laos X China or Vietnam X China borders. Even at the northern Chinese borders, U oso can't go in with bikes.

:deal: To ride in China, U got to write in and obtain a special permit which U have to pay for Escort and not 100% they will approve it (only special reasons like big Charity rides). Last read an article on the web and it's abt US $150 per day for the Escort. Unless U have money to spare or else can 4get abt riding in China.

And if I'm not wrong, independent traveller are not allow owned bike in China. Lots of regulation in China, perhaps have to give China more time.

:?

Since mid 2001, U can't enter Vietnam with a bike more than 175cc. So rite now, we can only ride with our own bikes in M'sia, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. Sigh...

Correct if I'm wrong, limited knowledge oni.

Just got my licence converted to China licence so it is legal for my to own a bike in China.

Also just found out that they allow import of bike more than 250cc but still trying to find out whether they can allow to put the bike on the road.

Shit! too many regulations to take care of.

Few days back saw a X1 in Shanghai but too slow to catch up w him to find out more.

Anyway thanks for your help.

Does our Diversion uses a cam belt which needs to change after certain mileage? Anybody maintain that part yet? cos mine's reaching 10,000km soon. i think i didnt see this maintenance part in the user manual leh. But most in-line 4 engines shld be either using cam belt/chain/gears in the transmission from camshaft to valves. So which is ours? And this belt/chain usually needs changing after every 10,000/20,000km.

Very high possibility it is cam chains.

wait for TP to phase out divyy, then quikly go find out where will they be and buy.

thats the problem with Yamaha, their some models always very short lifespan, unlike Honda, new series after series, recur until u see also sian.

My previous bike was a Virago 1100cc, very reliable and cheap to maintian, but also not in production bike. Still see alot of uncle riding this beau, spare parts availabel both in Sg and M'sia.

Hi,

I just saw a brand new Diversion at New Southern Motor in Alexandra yesterday. The guy at the shop said that they still have some stocks. Why don't you go and give it a look.
