Okay Guys these is from Motorcyclist one of my favorite magazine as the subject on down slope might help you buggers with some rough knowledge about:-

How to Ride a Motorcycle Downhill

Riding a motorcycle downhill poses some unique challenges. Here are some techniques to increase control and safety on the way down.

Fear not the downhill. Proper body position and keeping your eyes looking up the road will help smooth your ski-slope riding.

What goes up must come down, and that goes for roads and motorcycles, too. Lots of riders feel nervous or have trouble riding their machines downhill sections, even on the same kinds of road sections that give them no trouble at all when they are heading uphill. Yes, there are physics involved, but much of the apprehension is generated within the rider's head.

Here are techniques to help you in those situations.

• First, the physics. Get your weight back. If you can slide back in the seat it will help equalize the balance and lessen the load on the front end somewhat. Additionally, moving rearward can help you avoid putting as much weight on the bars, which will help you feel more in control.

• • Grip the tank with your legs. Using your thighs to grasp the tank will lock you onto the bike and keep your weight from shifting forward. It will also remove some weight from your wrists, which may make control manipulation easier. Gripping the tank will help prevent the feeling of "falling down" the hill into the curves, and will make you much more comfortable if you have to brake into a downhill corner.

• Remember to keep your gaze up so you look as far ahead as possible. "Opening up" your field of vision is always a good idea, but it's that much easier to find yourself looking down and just ahead of your front wheel when your body is already aimed downhill. This will make everything seem as if it's rushing at you and can lead to target fixation. When looking downhill remember to also look well down the road.

• Set your corner speed early. Again, this is a good general riding rule that reaps huge benefits in downhill situations. Keep in mind that you have to deal with the added forward weight bias caused by the slope. If you do your braking late or hold off getting your corner speed set until you're already in a downhill corner, you risk overloading the traction limit of the front tire when you ask it to handle the combined forces of gravity, braking and turning.

• Use positive throttle control. You don't want to be on trailing throttle in a downhill corner, as this will tend to put a very high load on the front tire. If you've set your entry speed early and properly, you should be able to get back into the throttle—even if it's just a bit—to shift the weight back with acceleration and balance things out. Just remember that with gravity pulling you along, a little throttle will go a long way.

Hi Guys,

Thank you very much for helping me push start my bike all the way. I've sent my bike back to the bike shop and found the battery and alternator to be ok. The problem lies with the starter motor where the carbon in it has burned out. Good thing its still under warranty and i got a new part changed for FOC.

Anyway all the best for your trip up to Genting. It's such a pity that i couldn't join you guys this time. Have a fun and safe trip!

Cheers

Hi Swift,

It is good to know that your bike is still under their sales warranty- For what you are paying for :-]. But it looks like an isolated problem, as most of us buggers riden soOooOo FarRRr we ourselve never come across such problem yet ! :nono: ..

As what I noticed your bike is in a very good condition the first owner have taken a good care of it.:thumb:

About the trip never mind we always have other trips which is on the way(Akan Datang)..:bounce: ..

If you have some extra$ and wanted to modify or do up anything let us know or put up on this thread, we are glad to help or even come/tag along.

Like recently some of us ordered steel braided hose for front brakes (many colours) all in plus workmanship is $150/ then we have book the tank bra (few colours) it is still In the process-$160/ if have the interest just let us know.

On our first meeting-1st of Jan "2005" we discussed more about the trip rather then getting to know you and BP well..there are other divvy buggers who never turn up due to their commitments  ..!

That is not much of an issue. If i can negotiate it with 2 panniers full of stuff + 2 up, riding alone should be much easier.

Safety is always the main prioirty of any trip i'm involved in so if it means going slow, we will. There are only 2 upslope 'U-turns' that really need more effort n other than that it is not much different from going up Kent Ridge Hill/Mt Faber.

Going down is the same route of it so try making mental maps on the way up on the 'spots' 2 look out, as its a tad more diffcult scaling down. This is wat i adopt n it is rather helpful 4 me.

Lets pray 4 nice n cooling weather up there and one thing to remind all...

Thank you SG,

My first priority is the extended windscreen that i'm going to order from bike tech. After that will be the rack from SK for my back box. Other upgrades will come soon...most prob the tank bra will be next on the list after that.

Ok...take care and bon voyage on the trip.

Catch up with u guys another time!

Cheers

Hi Swift,

You are interested in the extended screen, Casper knows those buggers at the Dunlop St (biketech 21) purty well!...bring him along... ..

Before you want to make the rack for the monokey box -just drop-in SK a week earlier to check out their pricing, ask them how much will it cost ??? at 10 AMK Industrial Park 2A- #05-31. AMK Autopoint. Tel: 6481 9580

About the SK rack I don't mind to tack along as- SK did for my bike and they can get a refresh(idea). Please bring along the monokey box base rack....have any intension to fix spot/fog lights need to bring along the lamps too.

Do you have the Handphone numbers for all the Divvy buggers you can ask Casper. It is easy for you to contact anyone of us. If your buddy casper is not free.

Hi BP,

After much thinking over and over, I like to check with you- how much will it cost fixing the (side)faring wind deflectors-inclusive of spray work, windscreen, cables and the extended handle as a package..I remember you were quoting and talking about it to-one of the buggers..So bro BP where? did you get this information!!! ..

About the Tank Bra ($160/) three colours to choose from- Black, Ash White(silver) or Dark blue- We most likely will be going there on 15th Jan-late afternoon around 1600hrs+ any changes either me or jleo will be sms-ing you. Remember need to place a deposit (nets, cash or visa+3%) .

Those of you like to look for- some other accessories can just tack along or meet over there..maybe some of you -know what to look for!!!!

GUYS FOR YOU

Some of us have experienced this before mostly during the HudsonSTX13 bugger!!gave most of us a shock all of a sudden from no where he is beside you...remember.

Next to thee

One beauty about bike-is that a bike can go where cars can’t, saving you time in traffic and offering alternatives when obstacles present themselves, and they can be ridden in a formation that provides safety in numbers (you’re more easily seen) and on the road camaraderie.

But such flexibility often leads the inexperience into trouble- specifically, into the cautious act of riding directly side by side. (remind me of Hudson STX13) Sometimes you’ll see this with the newbie sporty types-is it passé to call them “squid”?— "sotong" but we’ve seen all types placing themselves directly alongside another rider, and not just as a transient act but for miles and miles. Here’s why that’s a bad idea.

Where did he go? Motorcycle mirrors are bad enough without complicating matters. A rider who snugs up right alongside but just slightly astern from you will be all- but invisible except in your peripheral vision. If he was there just a second ago and then disappeared from your mirror, you must make the on-the-fly determination of where he’s gone. Maybe you want to look over to you left, and if you just happen to nudge the right bar end while you’re doing so…boom!, there you go banging fairings. As a rule, when following another rider, stay in a position that allows you to see him in your mirrors. If you can’t see him, he can’t see you.

So much for that way out! When you ride right next to another rider, you are closing the door on a vital escape route. Say a tire explodes on a van ahead and the lead rider’s only out is to move in your direction. What’s to guarantee that you’ll see the incident quickly enough to get out of his way? If you maintain lateral space and sufficient following distance you’ll be able to react not only to the incoming projectile, but also to your partner’s reaction.

Practice good lane discipline every time you ride, and make it a habit to counsel the less experienced riders in your group before any of your group has a coming together.

These I read from the magazine too...Hope it will help those buggers who like to snugs along sometimes- too close to comfort!.. :giddy:

Hahah,

These are but some of the many small ancedotes that make a trip fun and unique. Nothing went bad and everthing turned out fine so i guess that the main thing.

One thing i must applaude is the discipline on how everyone stuck to a safe n proper formation. Riding with the bunch was so relaxing though there was a section where many were sprinting.. I quote "Cant even hit 200, jus doing a measly 198"... :giddy:

Also i'd like to extend the many thanks to the TDM bunch(casio inc) for making this trip great...

To the next one in feb...

Thanks Guys & Gals for the wonderful time.

This is a trip that done some ultimate test in our bike's acc.

One thing for sure.... wat ever rain coat, arai, gpr or other brand all fail when we talk about 5 hours of rain.

Helmets wise, Arai; MHR and Nolan fail due to either fog(in e visor) or water leaks.

Only HJC (2pcs of Sysmac) withstand the test all the way.

Wait for the trip report.........
