Hi bro......

About the performance SG encounter was true enough! I think it is the octane from the fuel...not the engine oil. I've tried exxonmobile 92 and was very heavy. As for the engine oil,I've been using motul since day one (semi-synthetic) and it is Made in France! Just for your note is that Motul oil has calibrate their specification according to Yamaha since when Noriyuki Haga piloted the YZF R7 in world superbike championship since 1999!Just like Shell/Ferrari,Castrol/BMW.So for the fuel guys I'll stick to 95..... :thumb:

I am a big fan of Haga. I have never missed a single raced when he was riding Yammy R7 in d superbike series years ago. I love his dare-devil riding style. I am so glad that he is back with Yammy on a brand new R1 this year, look forward to d month end race :cheer:

I am also glad that Colin Edward tag team with d Doctor this year in MotorGP. Is just another exciting new year's race series to look forward. For d passed few yaers i have never missed watching a single race.

It was Wayne, Kevin, Spencer, Kenny R Snr, Mick etc. that attracted me to d series in d late 80's n early 90"s. :hungry:

CHEEERS TO YAMMY

Hi mokamoka,

You mean, they(tp) got the BM cheaper then Japanese bikes ha? which was before Diversion.!

What I knew (history) they were using - honda CB750, Suzuki katana 750, Yamaha genisis 750, BMW and now Diversion's.

Maybe, as what you say- there can be some truth..? but I don't think they go that far for the lowest qoutes.

There are other factors need to be considered, I don't think Yamaha is desperate to push Diversion or give lowest quotes (need to maintain, supply spare parts thru out their services as long as reqiured) as during those times R1 and fazer6 where hot cakes for Yamaha.

They are more Kiasu then any gov bodies in or around the world- that I'm very sure of..! They always wait until some country proven that it is a better bike on all expects (safety, maintainance, supply and reliabilty) before purchasing it. They ones already got their fingers burn!-remember! (or maybe I'm wrong?)..

Silverghost.. o_O

well, cost whilst, as long as members of public(MOP) dun have green eyes, as long as the public funds are accounted for, anything goes.

The last I heard was that some BMs were trial bikes,or maybe not. But then due to maintainence issues, it was not a choice.

As for why there are so many choices of bikes, but then they took the diversion, it was also due to recommendations by the several companies, open quotations, warranties...etc...

What you said is true... singapore would always wait for the other forces to have some machinces before adopting it... how about some Evo 8 as expressways patrol and some Haya or K5 as TP bikes... that would be cool... very cool....

Lets keep an open mind to everything, ya... we are not in control of what bikes they buy, but then as long as you are not a person of interest to them(speedster, red light dasher....etc), then what have you to worry....

This is a great bike... too bad out of production already...

Hi SG,

Do u happen to know how i can get EBC brake pads directly from the supplier that carries it? It seems to me that stocks from a few bikes shops seems to take ages to order from them.

I'm thinking of changing my brake pads both the front(Double H) and the back(either Kelvar or the $35 one) just before we hit Frasier Hill next month.

As for the suggestions u make to Casper(exchange of the screens)...well it sounds good to me! How about it Casper??

Thanks for the info,bro euro.

Talking bout the front fender..I ordered from biketech21 in March '03.

They got the wrong one (for TDM) and asked me to wait for the correct order to arrive. Waited and waited..called and called...the boss promised and promised...until I fed up with waiting.Specially went down twice during lunch time for refund but cant locate the boss..the staff said he cant make decisions on refund and asked me to come again in the evening to see the boss. Too much rite?Take 9 months and no response from them for a simple piece of plastic. Finally managed to get back my refund in late Jan '05.

Ok enuff of grumbling..btw where did you buy the front extender?Does Motoworld carry it?

Casper > u may wish to try d bike shop located before & beside Seng Kwang, i purchased mine at only $8.00 included installation. though it is not made specifically for our XJ but it fitted very well on it & even engraved with a Yammy logo. Only black is available & it actually look pretty good on my bike. Cheap & effective, been using it for more then 3 years already.

Allow me to rephase & carry on with your sentence. This is a great bike, all rounder bike that caters very well to riders like us whom have made a sensible decision to owe d XJ. Too bad out of production already & sad to see & heard many people out there still looking for one. However, good to know that d depreciation of d bike still remains low. I am also assure that i may ride this bike for d next 10 years with no worry of maintenance parts, cos Hong Leong & Yammy have guranteed spare parts to d TP for d next 8 years.

Should a boxer engine or a ST11 is used by d TP, & if every time Uncle Sam dropped his bike then end year he will not have any BONUS or his month pay will be deducted. or d road users have to pay even more for d road tax.

While u should know that there r many people out there who can afford to buy a new bike, however, they r unable to have enough $$$$ to keep it long enough or maintain it in good condition. Few of d good examples are Kawa & BM, d spare parts not only expensive but even though u have d money u still have to wait long long for d parts. So does these sound familiar to u.

thats a very bias sentence, which can lead to non-stop flaming...

To each his own. Whether sensible a not, its a person's choice to choose his own ride.

If you really want to know, the average waiting tiem for parts from HL is approximately 1 month, dependent on their shipment. Dun ask me how I know... I waited before, thats Y...

Allow me to complete your sentence. thats Y u made d wrong decision. I have owed LC, RD, SDR, FZR400 & 1000, V-Max & now XJ. Yet i have never waited parts for even a month like u. Thus, not only decision must b sensible but also at times it has to b rational to your needs. :goodluck:

Hi Swift,

Just try checking out some of the bike shops-and it shouldn't be a problem-- If your tyres are in good condition no need to change as long there are no crack lines inbetween the tyre groves.

The Original fitted tyres are good enough as long as you don't play racing on rainy dayz! (the factory fitted tyres dunlop was more towards the dry road use).

The difference with the bridgestoneBT020 it can handle better on both condition wet or dry. (before use to take deep corners on my ST using BT020)

Unless your tyre is about to bald might as well change it!! (touring we will maintain a good speed/formation).

The ermax(you ordered) windscreen is slightly taller then the OEM windscreen and lower then Skidmarx(superflip) it depends on your liking!!!

It is almost same as kevin shown in the photograph(MRA's size) but this have a grove and a hole like the OEM screen...

Maybe try to look into Euro's pictures-look for his bikes picture.

About Skidmarz (superflip windscreen)

Need to get use to it- for my first use was groggy(effects your road judgement) looking thru the windscreens' grooves/bends not use to it. Now okay!

If need to look far (to confirmed anythings) look over the screen. this is my review on Skidmarx (superflip). but it serves my purpose.

Hi xanc,

Simply run through our earlier threads you'll have all the ANSWERS for all the QUESTIONS.

Or as you say it same old Q's-I'll give you the same old answers- Fuel consumptions is depends on the rider Full throttle from traffic light or normal move off. Its between say high of 17km/L to low of 21km/L of consumptions.

The last production was 2003 Dec!. XJ9s launch in 1994 after the big selling success of its young brother XJ6s.

Now you can only get- 2nd hand roughly from $12++ to $14.(now the demand for this bike is HIGH!(2nd bike)- PRICE IS UP too)

One of our 'handsome bugger' just got the 2nd hand bike for $14+..

But what I heard is that- HL is bring in another Batch between 20 to 40 units, most likely the last batch- for TP use only!. :weep:

Maintenance is one of the lowestin the big bike categories!

Silverghost.. o_O

thnx for the info bro..

kinda steep man..

Swift,

The EBC brake pads is good and expensive.$70/- 1 set... As you say it is hard to find - bikelabs are the suppliers/importers- if I'm not wrong.

Most of the places for now- no stocks.

Then go for the 2nd best -I have no choice EBCs' no stock so I settle for SBS HH (there are other better pads unless buggers out there have tried/tested and recommends) but for me SBS HH is good enough.

Sometimes only it's abit noisy due to the brake dust-- once-in-awhile sparying water into the calipers, can remove those dust.

Don't blow using the compress air- the dust is harmful can cause lung/throat cancers.

Just a small reminder changing of anything on your bike -e.g. oil/filters change atleast 1week before trip -if anything it can be retified beforehand, here.

Hey Swift,

Great to have u on board!!

Anyway for the tyres, i remember ur tyre threads are still quite deep n in rather good condition. Hence unless u feel its a must, the stock tyres are good enuf.

In my experience, I made it up Genting, Fraser n Cameron numerous times on the stock pair n it i never gave me reasons to doubt the capabilities. As long as u restrain the Valentino Rossi in u in the wet, it will serve u fine..

U can get the tyres from Stanford if u so wish. The price will include balancing. Shop is 2 down from Seng Kwang.

Hi bro SG, thanks for the compliments! Hope everyone enjoyed my pics too as much as i enjoyed the genting trip pics! Well, just like what you and all of us are doing here in this thread... to share stuff and info! :shades: :shades: For all you know, the pics can motivate some of you buggers to plan to tour further up... it can make you enjoy your bikes even more... or not so much!

Casper, i had the same problem with them too! thus ended up...making my own fender extender! It is a soft plastic, which i used for my rear shock protector and semi-hugger. Its a very useful thing, if fact those of you who dont have, can also try Kevin's suggestion or try to order in bulk from the net.

Custom, actually i noticed you cupping that night too! :D :D

anyway, i may not change tyres so soon... And i may stick to BT020, cuz i have full tested them! :cheeky: As for the M6, if i could recall, the actual size for the rear wheel may not be available on hand.

STOC#2963.

How & where did u get d "soft plastic"? May u reveal more details for d making & installation process. Will u b able to attach a pic of your rear mud-guard. I would like to try to DIY myself too. Would greatly appreciate your info.

Have seen pic of guys in Uk installed d rear mud-guard themselves as well, but their details is too complicated cos required drilling into d swing-arm. I do not wish to spend money to buy an org. guard made by TCP.

BTW, your pic are really beautiful. From d pic taken, i belief u r an avid photographer on your digit cam. THough still an amateur but u still try your best to capture that moment of great memory that last u for many years to come. :thumb:

Hi Kevin..........

At last there is some one is a fan of Haga in the Divvy group. Now, you and me can share the World Superbike Championship. Why don't you joint the Yamaha 'INSIDER' at the Yamaha web site....http://www.yamaha-racing.com.You know Kevin I was so fired up when Yamaha withdrew from WSBK after Haga was involved in motogp. He piloted the YZR V4 for 2 season than to Aprilia. The worst part is that he rode for Team Renegad Ducati. All the Yamaha fans thought that the YZR M1 was going to piloted by him but instead that lousy C. Checa got the nod.The next openning round of WSBK is on 26/02/05 at Qatar.Too bad Sepang could not hold two world event in a year. That is the rule by FIM. Kevin my friend r you looking foward in the motogp at Sepang. It will be held on 25/09/05.SG already made the planner. Can't wait for the start of the WSBK and the motogp.Hopefuly Haga and Rossi will kill the 'EVIL HONDA EMPIRE' for good. :thumb:
