But it does look very nice with underseat exhaust.

ya i will be getting fazer soon.. just dunno whether to get fz1 or 6. I definitely not a speed demon but would prefer my upcoming to have good acceleration with slight twist of trottle. But again, i am afraid i might under utilise the power of a litre bike. My heart currently goes to fz6 but am afraid i will make a wrong choice as it will stay with me for couple of years.. so haiz... if only we can test ride...

The power of class 2 bikes in Singapore will always be underutilised...

Do try to bring your bike up north once you reckon you're ready for it, otherwise it could possibly be a huge waste of your $. Might as well stick with a trustworthy super 4 or drz4SM.

Then again... If you like the design of a bike soooo much and fall in love with it, by all means splurge the cash on it. Does not matter if you never utilise the power of the bike.

At the end of the day. Its your cash and what you wish to do with it. Most importantly you have to be happy and contented with your purchase!

Cheers

If you're into pickup like me, forget bout fazer6. anything below 5k rpm, the bike feels like it's hibernating. considered the bike previously and loved the look but gave up the idea of owning one after trying it out.

also considered fazer 1 like you. pick up is definitely much better but the turn off is the weight.

If really have to make a choice between the two, fazer 1.

is because inside u , u are not ready yet. once u are ready u will have the ans and no matter what others ppl's advise are, u will still go ahead.

i rode gixxer 750 and then change to r6 05/ runner vxr200.

This is what i felt after riding it.

600cc bike, 4.5krpm and below is boring. Felt like riding a 400. But after 4.5k and above, u starts to feel da pulling. For 750, pulling effect is at every single inch movement of rpm. Power comes in around 3k. Riding a bike on road, the normal move off rpm to a normal speed and normal exhaust sound is about 4krpm. So, riding a 600cc and wanted to have a feel of class2 power, you have to drag till above 4,5k. By then, others on road though you want to play or showing off, as your dragging and exhaust sound states it all.

I'm a bit disappointed with 600. Cause if want to be slow and steady, i would rather ride runner. If wanted all da power or troque, i would rather take a 750/1000. Other said, 600cc the handling is way better than 750. (or they mean at track?). But for me, i felt that da handling (sg road) is almost da same. Not much diff and riding on sg road, you dont need to have the best handling.

Same here (coming down fr ZX-7R). :giddy:

Somemore, almost every weekend, I travel NSH ... quite impossible to keep litre bikes in sight! You just pray ur riding buddies will wait for u somewhere ... :faint: That said, don't think I'm ready for the power & bulk of the litre bikes!

I'm more a tourer than tracker, but if ur the other extreme, then mayb 600 will be fun! :thumb:

But on SG roads, IMHO, litre bikes is not so cost effective as 600s. On NSH, its a different story.

thanks for all the old birds comment... i still welcome more feedbacks!

however, i reckon the power range of a r6/sports should be quite different from a more road bike like fz 6?

any fz 6 riders to comment on the power of the bike on sg road.?

first time getting cl2 bike... now still riding cl2b ( old hexagon)..haha

U will never go wrong with a 1000 cc bike, it got poise, acceleration and style to pull U through, I never went through 600 cc but I got a 400 cc bike before so when the RPM is high the 400 cc is quite sufficient but when it is on low RPM, it is difficult to ride as it takes like forever to reach the required speed. For a 1000 cc bike, U would never have that kind of problem but it is really very hot and the cost is very high, but the satisfaction that U are getting is far higher. When I am on my bike, I felt like having a vacation every time I ride. So definately, if U can afford it, go for the 1000cc. :thumb:

Sep 02 to Oct 02- Black Cagiva Planet (1 word Lousy)

Oct 02 to Oct 03- Yellow RXZ133 (Too light for me)

Oct 03 to Mar 05- White Purple CBR 400RR (Not enough style & power)

Mar 05 to Dec 06- Red CBR 1000RR (Wonderful except the magnetic coil issue)

Dec 06- Dec 07- Black VFR 800 (Good bike but not my style, thks for the memories)

Dec 07- Black GSX1000K8 (Nothing else to say except Damn good)

My 2 cents...

I'm currently riding a '01 Vara 1000 now.

- Heavy

- 15km/L fuel consumption

- Riding at 80-90km/h at 5th gear (max) will cause engine to knock when going up slight slope

- Vibration is crazy at between 110-130km/h but smooth like baby's bottom >130km/h

- My feet can barely touch the gound.

So why in the world do i still ride it? Simple.. I tour occasionally and can clock 40k within a year and i frequent the 2nd link 2x a week. And I cant afford another bike for transport so this is my daily use bike as well. More importantly, i'm happy and i like the bike.

So at the end of the day, if you're gonna get a high capacity bike (sportsbike, tourers, cruisers) and use it as a daily transport in Singapore only, and nothing more, go ahead.

Although its gonna be a waste of money, wat matters most is that you're happy. And when friends start calling you a poser because you're not making full use of the bike, then they are not your real friends... :p

Just remember, try NOT to test your top speed on local roads. Although it seems like no one is watching, y'll never know.

I’ve never ridden an R6, but upgraded from cb4 specII to FZ6. There’re lots of comments on the FZ6 thread, but IMHO, observations from me are:

- well balanced

- revvy engine… more than enough power for Singapore roads, just open up throttle

- mid-range pick-up claimed to be weaker than Hornet 600, but when I’m not afraid to open up throttle, it’s no problem at all…

- suspension a bit poor

- brakes not so hot

- seat a bit hard

- love the look

- quite good petrol consumption

- weak lights

- good handling

The point is, there are many good and bad points about any bike. The FZ6 has way more than sufficient power for Singapore roads, but will lose out to bigger cc bikes on the NS highway. It was a great bike for me, which was why I kept it for 1 ½ years… longer than any other bike I’ve had. I would have kept it longer if I hadn’t fallen in love with another bike. You know men la… hahahaha…

V-twin, single cylinder or high torque muscle bike with most power found in low to mid rev range are extremely fun to ride aound city just like those super motard or to the extreme V-max, xjr1300 are v rideable at slow to moderate speed. Am i true to say that?? Still learning to enjoy riding... hehe

Great… the red one looks cool… the parts look better than the 1st version bike I got… even the dials, and the swingarm (the last one sucks).

If they addressed those problems, it should be a hit.

I find it strange that there's literally no one talking abou the handling differences between a 600 & 1000 ...

Its all about power & torque so far.

Shouldn't handling be an even more important consideration?

On SG roads, anything 400 & above is ample power, but if a bike doesn't handle to your liking, its no fun.

On MY twisty roads & tracks, I feel handling is even more important than power differences.

So what's ur take on the handling strength & weaknesses between 600 & 1000?

any modern sportsbike will have handling quality more than you'll require on the road. its limit probably only on track can reach.

handling-wise more worth comparing between sportsbikes and naked streetfighters. of coz, the sportsbike better handling, but newbies might wanna know exactly what the diff is.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

I think its very much up to individual preference on handling, even more subjective than the delievery of the power of a bike, which affect my riding very much.. There is definately a great difference in the way a bike is built for (sports and a road bike). You guys would have read plenty of bike magazine stating the need to shift gears v often to maintain the sweet spot for the 600cc sports anything less u gonna suffer a big power loss, but not for a litre bike(generally). But you can argue that u wouldnt need such power riding on singapore roads. OK im bringing back the same issue again. But a torquey bike really makes a vast difference when u ride in and ard urban city at moderate speed.

I agree with you, in fact, you can probability ride faster on a big bore street bike (having more low end grunt) than a 1 liter race bike on a twisty road, or city street.

That's because street bikes makes more of their power lower down the revs while you need to high rev the race bike to get the most power.

In another case, a british mag have a test from 0-100km/h between the CB1300, and the CBR1000RR, the CB1300, having more grunt and touque, get there faster, while the high reving CBR simply needs more effort to launch.

For me will not upgrade. Think 600cc is enough for sg rd. I am riding 06 R6 now the bike is very high rev at least 10k then got power. So whenever i need power i just drop 2-3gear n it will wake up.
