Hi ppl...i juz got a TZM too, any comments on the bike....

Hmmm comments? How about the TZM's 10 Commandments?

1) TZM is born with a sensitive YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System). Use fully-syn 2T & service yearly, or use a semi-syn 2T & service half-yearly, or use mineral 2T & service quarterly. Disobey these & you'll end up with valve problems.

2) TZM comes with a fluked YCLS (Yamaha Computerised Lubricating System). Removal of that component & bypassing the 2T straight to the block will reduce the risk of piston jams. There will be a need to reduce the 2T output at the pump if this is done, to avoid $70 fines for smoky exhaust.

3) Type of coolant is important if u commute everyday on a TZM. Send it for a flush with Thermal Flush ($15-$20), flush twice if you're doing it for e 1st time. This will remove all of the harmful sludge & toxins from your radiator system. Top it up with WaterWetter / Thermal Cover aka Racing Coolant (no need to mix w water) instead of the normal green glycol-based coolant 50-50 mix with distilled water. A cooler (not COLD) engine reduces the risk of piston jams. The radiator thermostat must be removed by e mechanic if block skimming is done (see below) so as to allow the engine to run even cooler.

4) Rec gearbox oil will be fully-syn 4T or gear oil (might be too heavy for some rider's liking).

5) Rec plug is NGK Racing Competition B9EGV ($15/pc).

6) Rec chain is RK O-Ring ($150).

7) Rec sprocket ratio is 16/47 (price included with chain).

8) TZM is born with low compression. Increase it by doing block skimming ($50), advance timing & carb tuning ($100) & your engine's performance will be at optimum.

9) Use of carbon fibre reed valves will improve throttle response ($50-$80). Even better with the racing reed block (usually marketed together with e valves, $120-$150).

10) If u plan to modify the bike, remember the Golden Ratio -> Air:Fuel:2T:Fire. When u increase one, the rest MUST be increased as according.

Follow these 10 Commandments & your experience with your new TZM will be extremely pleasurable. Always maintain emergency cash in case of breakdowns.

Hopefully I can get my bike out before 31st. I called the shop yesterday morning and the boss said they just sent my bike for a paintjob. He asked me to check back with him next Wednesday (28/12/2005). If I can take my bike out before Saturday, I'll definitely join you guys! :thumb:
