Dear Motor Gurus,

I am targeting to get a lightweight 2A sports bike by end of this year but am in dillema which bike to go for between the Kawasaki 250R and Aprilia RS250.

Can anyone give any advice? in terms of price, specs, style, et cetera.

Given: I am not going to have this bike as a main mode of transport as I already have a car but am keen to ride the bike at least 3 to 4 times a week (weekends and at night) to relish the kick of riding during my free time.

Am wondering if there is still anymore 1st hand RS250 in the market though i wont mind a second hand but if i am buying the Kawa, i will definitely go for the 1st hand.

Kawa currently OTR is around $11,000 as quoted by the shops i visited, is that a gd buy? Anyone can give me a rough valuation of RS250?

Anyway, will a 2 stroke be more difficult to maintain than a 4 stroker? as i believe RS250 is 2 stroke powered. any pros and cons?

Have been riding cruiser since i got a licence so decided to get a sportsbike for a change but sadly only have attained class 2A hence the restriction to this two as best choices of mine.

Do reply and send in your suggestions please!

Regards.

RS250 is the best choice for fun:)

the performance is able fight with 400cc 4-stroke sport bike.

but be prepare for the 11-15km/L FC.....

250R is the best choice for transport :)

the performance is quite similar with those 150cc 2-stroke sport bike.

great FC, about 25-28km/L

yea, fuel consumption for RS 250 could be a setback but since it will not be an everyday ride so it should not b much a problem.

I will need more advices for me to determine which bike between the two will be good.

As for PGM, not really an alternate choice for me.

I am currently riding the 250r for daily transport (about 50km a day) and it has been great so far.

My current FC is at 27km/L and with that 50km travel distance daily, I would only need to refill my tank once a week. I personally loved the pickup for this bike.

I can't tell you much on the RS 250 as I haven't ride one before, but since you are not looking one for transport, you will have a lot of choices to select from :).

can u give more review on your kawa 250? eg. is it stable at 90 - 120 km/hr speed? is the power stressing at this speed?

RS 250 also needs fully synthetic 2T. And drinks both petrol & 2T really fast.

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

Riders ride to work. Drivers work to drive.

play bike? Dude go for 2 stroker RS250! Crotch rocket with torque like you've never felt before. Since its not for transport at all, mileage would be very little so you shouldnt have to worry too much about the maintenance costs. yes a kawa250 might be good, but for smaller CC's nothing beats a 2 strokers which are the fun bikes!

250R and RS250 r 2 diff league together le. Buy RS250 only if you enjoy slipping the clutch/ and high rev for its powerband. Its awesome.. 70hp for a 250cc 2 stroke is no joke.,

since u have a car as transport. few things beat a 250 s stroke at full blast. E power of the kawa would pale in comparison to the rs250.

get a gd condition rs250, slap on a decent set of pipes, tune up, e bike can fly! easier to get the full power as compared to the PGM4s etc

What kinda of riding are you looking at?

Spirited, adrenaline pumping with abilities that can out corner many bikes....

Or just no frills low FC class 2A transport that provides good road holding at SG legal speed with a sport bike look?

Since you have a car to share your daily commuting....maintenance wise should be manageable regardless which ever bike you choose...

But kawa has the abilities to make a green bike looked sick....I wonder how.....Liked the green very much.....wanna to spray my R6....But looking at other green R6s in the R6 forum....

The bike looked fooking ugly....but not with kawa ninjas????
