Wah. You are indeed a really lazy frog! Haha. Joking man. Got so many bikes to choose from! Varadero 125 was what my "Unkle Rider Friend" recommended to me because i am tall and built. Its a big bike. Can see Certis Cisco Officers riding it. Or the Bajaj Pulsar would be a good pick. Nice, big bike. Or just go with those 200cc big scooters lar. Piaggio, SYM, etc. :)

However of my size (Waist @ 40):sian:, need advice what bike should i get.

Whats is a bajaj 200? FC low bike that ppl are saying? is the bike "Big Looking" like vara 125?

Wanted a vara125 but cost a bomb (10K above)

if u want a vara125, can always look for a 2nd hand one.

it will be cheaper.

then get class2a or class2 then change bike?

or if u just wanna ride a 2b bike.. then invest more.

Whats so bad about a phantom? i find it reliable, powerful for class 2b and maintainability is a breeze.

Had a problem with my rear fishtailing but after changing to a new tyre, even jamming the rear brake, it does not skid.

There isnt a good ride, its a good rider. Best is subjective.

Apologies dude if i offended you, just that i have a friend need to change the whole gear thingy cost 1k++. Takes weeks to do that, cant afford such time as i using it for work transportation.

Just a novice for bikes, learning through the hard way over here.

I think it would be better to narrow down your search first. Are you interested n cruiser, road bike, scrambler or sport bike?

Then go and try it out first. If people all say bike A good, but you can't afford or don't feel comfortable on it also no point right?

but big 2b bike that come to my mind first would be vara, hyosung comet 125, piaggio x8/x9, those taiwan made scooter (sym gt 150 i think...)

NONO! im not a little bit offended. Dont be too taken in by your friends stories. Perhaps your friend didnt take care of his oil or his cam chain failed. Scrambler maintainence, italy scooter maintainence, sports bike and their top overhauls take their fair share of seizures. To overhaul your gears in a ta200 would cost much less than $500 at planet motors(at ubi ave). Besides, which 4t bike in 2b category can bring you over 130km/hr and still give you 30+ km/L. :thumb:

just merely a suggestion. There are thousands of phantoms on the road and your friend could be the unlucky one.

Btw, what is it that you are finding in a bike. Give yourself 10 points. =)

How much does a 2nd hand Vara125 cost and does the maintenence expensive?

Wish to ride a 2B bike all the way, will be getting a car after marriage.

The bike will cost from $4k to $6k depending on accessories.

Maintenance is cheap. A simple bike to work on really.

Bike is huge and stable on highways. And best of all, it doesnt look like a 2B bike. And it does not look weird with panniers or top box.

Prefer to state it out to share with others. Btw, 1k for a gearbox overhaul is exaggerated.

This is taken from the phantom knights consolidation of their typical repairs page.

Phantom TA 200 gearbox - $540 (planet)

First, state out 5 expectation in your upcoming bike.

Let me help you.

For ta 200 bad points

1. No oil filter thus have to change eo every 2k km(highly reccomended).

Problem is that many drag this and their eo starts to leak etc and overhaul(The no.1 overhaul reason for ta2oo for both the gearbox and engine)

2. If you have a rear box, tendency is that you have a heavy rear. Inexperienced riders + wet/sandy roads + bad tires + bad braking technique = skid

3. Tires, chains etc are slightly more expensive than small transport bikes.

4. Being 200cc(or somewhat close) with just single disc brakes for both front and rear. Bad for new riders who are unable to gauge.

5. Image that this ride is for the middle aged man.

For ta200 good points

1. Only 1L of EO needed every oil change.

2. Can reach speeds of 130km/hr(on your speedo of course) and good pick up.

3. Fuel consumption of at least 32km/L. 300km b4 reserve and 400km dry.

4. Every motodiam should be able to do regular servicing of your bike.

5. For new riders who value their life, install a wide front crash bar(rear available too) and big side boxes on the side.

6. Its a 4 stroke thus no 2t and much quieter and do ur part for the environment. :thumb:

For more info on the bike, feel welcome to surf through the 20+ pages of the commonly sought after discussions between the phantom knights community.

A pic for you to appreciate

Always ride safely and defensively.
