Well, if there is, do keep us updated....

Kindda curious, I thought you were pretty concern about the dyno figures about your next bike? It is highly believed that 848 would have a hard time pitting against the Gixxer 750, but it would be interesting to see the 848 vs the Triumph 679.

Anyway i dont pit against other bikes,if they want to win just go ahead & let them win cause this italian beauty is for street riding not racing in sg.

Me.. i treat my Ducati differently. A stock Ducati is ready for racing. but a stock jap bike? i dont think so. Although, Dukes may not have top speed compared to Japanese bikes, But its still a damn fast bike when it comes to accelarations. I enjoy riding my bike comfortable on the road, BUT, If any Japanese bike Rider think he can lauch off faster than my duke, he better think twice. I've already tested myself with friends riding CBR1000RR, K6 1000, R1'06. Haha.. not a chance. (Call me crazy, but i had enough of riders thinking that Ducatis are slow) Only after my CBR fren modified to increased another 19BHP... he manage 'tear' me in his 2nd gear.

And 1 think that surprises me, after Dynoing my bike early this year, and noticed other Dyno results from other Jap bikes, The stats for ducati seems lower that Jap bikes, but still amazingly, Dukes can be faster that Japs.

I also believe its the rider too.. Dont mess with my CBR1000RR fren. Crazy guy can go faster than a 1098. haha..

Good suspension system gets the bike off the line fast, a significant factor aside from engine modifications. Ducati comes with top grade suspension unlike stock japanese bikes where they tend to be a lil soft. But cheers to you and your Ducati, its nice to hear you utilise its potential well.

Its deceptively fast. And to get the best out of an Inline4 requires alot of revs, so only mechanically unsymphathetic riders can get the best out of their Inline4s.

The amazing torque of the 9 series makes the Duc flies off the stopline. Dude, try Sepang one day. If you are lucky, see if you could find a good rider on a well dailed suspension on a Jap bike to go along. It would be fun to do catch up down the straights, but yet almost slamming his rear in certain parts of the track. That happened to me when trying to get past a new guy on his R1. He was tearing away from me during the straights, but I close him up after T9. Needed 2 laps to finally get around him, it was very fun, especially when I was on a stock 748  But look out for the 2 stroke 150cc club racers...they definately get you on the inside lines with no warning. Just smoke them down the straights and avoid them at the corners.

If you could, get Gnayed or possibly even Kim (if he yet to modify his 07 R1). I am sure Gnayed's R1 is very stock trimmed, and he is at a decent pace, while Kim tends to ride his bike stock trimmed until he thinks he wanted more. Kim's fren Raymond on his stock R1 is also a nice guy. You should see them on the track. But as much as possible, use race tyres.

You hit the nail right on!!! A bike could not be fast if the setup is not right. Most dun really dial up their suspensions on their Jap bikes (I'm not being prejudice but I dun understand how some wanted a comfortable, plush and racy sportbikes?). I'm not even shy to say that a number of them crash their bikes because they feel "unusual behavior" from their bikes during turns when the bike is as comfy as a sofa on the road. Easy to note that because 99% of my frens who dun go track, complaint my bike rides like a rock. My track fren who dialed in his SP2, it felt similar to mine, though it was only a couple of rounds in the carpark. A Duc right off the box normally is pretty wound up and rides like a wooden bike, ha. Let's not get in the topic when the Jap and Euro bike's suspension heats up in the track....that's too Rossi already :cheeky:

Its deceptively fast. And to get the best out of an Inline4 requires alot of revs, so only mechanically unsymphathetic riders can get the best out of their Inline4s.

Which actually is why I still feel the Jap bikes are still faster in the right hands, stock. That's a reason why bike mag reviews tends to say the Jap bikes kick ass. Bike mag test riders easily turn laps around us in a track, and they landed themselves the job for a reason. Riding an Inline4 fast is to ride to almost perfection. Twins are more forgiving, which I like very much.

I am not anti Duc, and those who personally knows me, know that I love my ex 748 to death. A Duc needs a daring rider to make it fast. It's fast in the scariest way- the turns and holding the craziest tight lines around the apex. It's sending shivers down my spines now. I miss my bike....I will want one again with race fairings so I need not worry so much to keep the bike pretty. I still have scores to settle with some 600s before I'm too old

Oh? How come april? Do you have to wait that long to bid? For me if i can get my "boss" to agree i'll get one asap and transfer my multi's number across.

Full cash payment for the 848 i think there should be a special price for that if im not wrong.

I would if i could. :giddy: thats a lot of $$. Too many commitments. If my "boss" agrees to it can already haha :cheeky: i'll be happy just for that.

Hmm just read in other forums that the 848 (besides having wet clutch) will not have dampers as standard.

Well that sucks if the bike will really be priced in the early 30k-ish. Like paying for a more expensive "dark" ver when it's supposed to be a base model... nothing against the "dark" range but the 848 seems to be a dark ver with nicer paint to justify a heftier price tag. :( if they release it as 848 Dark then its a whole other story..

Both my ducks were dry clutch so i've grown to love it. I was willing to overlook the wet clutch (if its true) on the 848 but no damper as well???

What's next? Rubber brake and clutch lines?? Analog dash?? Really seems to get worse. The pearl white paint got me going but the rest of the rumors kinda crashes everything else imo... :faint:

Posted

The stock damper is non adjustable anyways, and most Duc owners swap out the damper as fast as the Termis got onto the bike anyways, to me is not big deal.

Rubber hose came stock on my 748 Mono, you could get it change yourself. 748 Mono was priced at 35k back in 2000, and every unit still disappear off Minerva.

If you get the Duc to the track, trust me, you will find the bike very fun to ride and you could get a damper and steel braided lines for less than 1k.

I am not so impressed by the wet clutch, but I dun mind swapping it out for a dry clutch. I love the dry clutch sound like you too, especially when it is retrofitted with STM Basket :thumb:

The thing that will make me forget the 848 is if the steering rake is non adjustable. And I hope the handling components are minimal Showa please!!!!

Cause i need to see if there is any recalled for the 848 due to this is the first batch & some more im going to pay in full which i dont want to regret after purchasing the 848.

Correct me if im wrong, normally 1st batch bike got recalled due to some problems here & there so i want to save up all the troubles once the problems is fix when the 2nd batch launch.

That y im not urgent in puchasing the bike, but i a place a deposit lar hehe, bro if u purchase can let me know is there any problems for the 848.

Must do homework first than target it........
