It's much much easier to handle for a newbie and advance trackie... But if u are a pro, get the 1098 instead....

I have a different perspective. The 1098 would be a friendlier bike to learn track riding because of its easier power delivery, whereas the 898 is more demanding.

But after learning the basics, the 898 would be more fun to ride near its limits whereas riding anywhere near the limits of the 1098 would be pretty hairy.

I love riding my 999, 2003 model...

I've spent so much on it and i believe i may have continue spending more on it, be it servicing or fixing spoiled parts.

The Ducati parts are really expensive. The money i've spent is good enough to buy a brand new jap bike and modify it with Brembos, Full system exhaust and Ohlins, from what i've calculated...

Before i bought my 999, i've always liked the R1. But i've always wanted to own a Ducati SBK. Now that i've finally felt a Ducati, i cant bare to part from it. I feel like trying a CBR1000'08 or R1'09. I feel i can do more with my money on these bikes. At the same time, afraid that the Jap bikes wont satisfy me as how much fun i had on my 999.

My dream is to get the 1098, but i dont think i can afford to own it even though i trade in my 999.

What do u guys think?

Bro, ever considered getting a newer 999 maybe? ie 2006 model? its the exact same bike but maybe 1/4 the headache? its true the cost ratio to riding pleasure is a very grey area man, but i think go with what your heart feels. better off thinking through it properly than regretting when u let go of your bike. i think the closest japanese bike to the duke is a zx10r, altho the new one looks pretty weird. dont let costs and all these hinder your passion for a ducati. it will always be a Ducati. (: a switch to a new japanese bike could be good, then when u've enough dough you can switch back to a duke again. its never too late !

guys, i have a question that bothers me for very long..

should i throw my 45k on a ducati 1098

or

should i add 15k on top of the above to get a cheap and affordable car?

(my friend said if i get duke might as well buy car and i think it's quite true la)

sp i dont know should i follow my passion (ducati) or reality (car). sometimes i might need to travel to meet my clients (i dont mind riding actually) and then also my gf wants me to get a car (i think majority sg girls prefer cars then bikes). but i have this burning desire to ride a ducati, especially 1098!!

so ducati or car?

please give me your 2 cents.

DUDE, grab that goddamn Ducati. Follow YOUR HEART man. It's YOUR PASSION. 45k for a no nonsense attitude engine plus keep heads turning. I think it's 100% worth it..i guran-god-damn-tee. It's harder to spot a Ducati than a Ferrari and Lambo on the road. Everytime when i see a Ducati on the road, wether is it a monster or a Superbike, i feel so jealous and at the same time happy. It's a weird feeling though, and there's no doubt that i'll definitely get myself one when i pass my class 2.
