Any 1 out there hook up ur erp to a external battery? care to show some pics? i tried hoking up to 1 9v batt but unit keep showing low batt. Any help here?

I use a 2 X 4aaa battery pack. If you use your IU unit often, a 2 X 4aa battery pack would be more economical. 9Volt batteries are very weak.

i agree... 9v battery cannot last that long. always getting problems going throught the gantry... have to go to IU inspection all the time.

 

nE0.. how u connect the AAA batt?? in series??

Yes, batteries are connected in series. 8 X 1.5volts = 12volts. An AA battery should have roughly 50% more juice than AAA batteries.

 

The battery packs are stacked back to back, and fits into where the plastic cover used to be. Cover can be removed by pushing the two metal pins out. I installed a switch to turn it off after use so the battery does not drain.

i saw the battery holder before, but i didn't know it is 12V... well another project coming up..

No worries, glad to be of help.

 

I soldered and heat-shrinked all connections for reliability, and cable tied the batteries in place. Not very fun visiting the IU inspection centre~!

Finally manage to hide my IU unit on my mono duke..the new version much more slimmer and hence conseal it somewhere out there is not an issue..

my Iu is under my rear seat cover on 1098, urs should fit too right dude?
