ya,red rocketwhere were we?

d.o.c. reckon his 998 is not conducive in slow speed?

the wrist goes both way my friend,u 're ultimately in control!

i give u a scenario, when i was active in shah alam, sepang & pg ,remember ,me no racer ah , real or otherwise !

used to hook up with joe&desmond & the boys(most of them real racers) to make our regular sojourn north.

we meet @ geylang petah, esso,(no change then) but when time to go ?

the real racers stick rather religiously to d limit 110!many a times i was actually with them,i can swear its 110 plus or minus 10/15km dats all !!!!!!

there 're many a times , when we reach klia pan pacific hotel , the fast group(racers) 've already done with their swimming !

the real one's 're very discipline, trust me.

if u not happy with the character, mess with the gearing lah,d 998 is on 15/36 right?

ppl tend to go down to 14 tooth for the front but me reckon its too excessive, should go up 2 or 3for the rear !

but it gonna cost u !

your Testastretta engine pretty refine , so almost like my Testastretta Evoluzione engine , but i gotta said dis,i prefer my older generation sps , Desmoquattro engine , it got the special rawness in the beast !

i remember post here in dis column, when i collected my 1098 , i dun believe ,how refine it is,me telling a mate dat if the ducati logo is cover up & u ask me to ride , i was thinking i was on a gsxr !

not literally of coarse but u noe my drift?

dats why i 'll NEVER part with my 916sps,period.

so,good nite,folks.

On my 998 usually on the 1st crank the bike is reluctant to start. It will be alive on the second crank.

I'm on 14/39 to suit PG.

For the rest of us not so hard core racers....

I will not have a good top speed for sepang. But then again...is red lining @ 270lm/h on top gear fast enough? Go figure

There is someone out there for me

I know there is someone out there

I know she is waiting so patiently yeah

Can you tell me her name?

(Somebody tell me her name)

This life-long search is gonna drive me insane

How does she laugh?

How does she cry?

What's the color of her eyes?

Does she even realize I'm here?

Where is she? Where is she? Where is she?

Where is this beautiful girl?Who is she? Who is she?

Who is gonna complete my world?

My bike's been like this for the past 8 years. Don't have any issues with either the batt or the starter

Hi i-link,

Its normal...it just takes a lot of juice to crank the big pistons of the twin. My Streetfighter need about 2 seconds of cranking before it starts. The ducati starter is not like the japenese starters. The duc seems to crank a lot slower than the japs and therefore give you the impression that the battery is about to fail. Does your BATT display come up often when your turn ON your ignition? Mine used to and when I sent my bike for replacement of the ignition coils, the ecu softare was updated and now I have not seen the BATT display as of yet, however, I realised that the imobiliser light at the top centre of the dash no longer comes on when I switch off the bike. Whatsup man!!!

Another thing to note is that the cheapo brake and clutch reservoir have a tendency of weeping. You need to keep an I on this as the fluid will find its way unto your fuel tank when you travel at speeds above the speed limit and if not cleaned away, damage the paint work.

I also used to have an exhaust valve error when you turn ON the bike after a ride. Just turn the ignition OFF and then ON again and the error goes away. After I cahnged to the DP ECU no more exhaust valve error (disbaled) HAHA.

But then again, it is just a machine and you should ride more worry less...enjoy.

Sorry Guys THE ORIGINAL GOLD is no longer suitable for display

Same here for my 996....

(Cold start) If I were to ride everyday, then it should start at first crank. if the bike is left idle for a week, then 2/3 cranks are needed. I keep the crank duration to less than 3secs to conserve the battery. (I normally do not use the fast idle button)

What you can try is to use the servo-assisted start. Press the starter button and let the button go right away the starter motor will go until the bike starts without overturning the starter once the bike is started. Apparently how it works is it rolls the starter, adds "choke" and other electronic nonsense until the bike is started.

yes i would like to know how the new bikes ride like, and if it is as refine as you have mentioned i would be glad that i have decided to keep my baby. why im asking for some opinion is that my bike is coming to 10 yrs, and i would like to know how it would ride compare to the newer bikes.

well about the part about not conducive yes i really find that at speeds below 70 my bike is terrible. i believe ducati built the bike with very tall gearing and the sweet spot rpm for criusing should be around 4.5- 6k rpm. thus most of the time at 2-3 gear it would hit the speed limit in spore.

im not advocating about riding like a speed monster , on the contrary, what i might is that to ride the bike on a track circuit and pushing the bike abit harder , the way the bike rides around corner and accelerates , the feeling of is undescribable compare to cruising around town.

just in case anyone might misunderstood my posting, i believe if anyone wants to ride fast and push the bike, the only safe place to do so is in a proper track circuit with a full set of leather suits.

This is the method I used as well, my SS started at 1st crank after 1 month of parking. Was worried it wont start, but was pleasantly suprised it started happily.

Well said Bro, am strong advocate of riding safe and accountable. Lets hit the track when i collect my bike :) to rediscover what we have missed out.

Many yrs ago, I saw this particular 900ss with termis. Damn! That was the loudest Ducati I heard so far. My wooden door was vibrating due to the bassy note. Not exaggerating here as I used to live quite near to the carpark.

check out Youtube showing Sepang Moto GP.

our fren Lorenzo not very gracious.

1) refuse to shake hand after winning

2) at podium, just keluar baris when Rossi take champange

3) at holding paddock, ride his bike into the No.1 placing meant for Rossi who won the race

4) got flag stuck into his rear wheel and throw tandrum.

5) very unwilling to shake Rossi hand

actually i wanted to get a x-802 helmet, but after this forget it...ill stick to HJC haha
