For those with coolant problems, feeling too hot, u guys should try distilled water + water wetter. Engine ice and Maxima cool aide is glyco based with anti-freeze properties (we don't have a freezing problem here)... water is probably the best liquid to dissipate heat. Furthermore, its cheaper. I'm trying to arrange a 'mass' water wetter treatment at HLC with some friends. prolly get ask for discount. ^_^

Bro, I think this will never be sorted. This is just my understanding as follows (I could be wrong)..

Problem with termi's is two-fold. First, they have to comply to EU3 emissions as per new LTA guideline. Second, most of them have the words "racing use only" stamped in big fat letters for a clever inspector to see. Even if Minerva were to get EU3 certificates to show LTA they would still have to produce a bike with pipe for inspection - that's when the racing use thing may not help - or the fact they are loud as hell :)

What I don't understand is how other pipe makers get theirs approved, or even Racewerks as mentioned here. I suspect a little inventiveness involved. I can't imagine some of these smaller importers sending each and ever model mounted on a bike to LTA, so they probably do one and then use same certificate for a bunch of different models, including the loud ones. Hard for LTA to keep up with that stuff and so smaller importers probably live in that grey area. Either that, or they simply are not as loud as termis, don't have racing use stamped on them, have EU3 certs and have all been inspected and passed. It's also possibly that many of them passed with old EU2 certs and would have to re-certify anyway.

When I bought mine I was told they are not certified - come to think of it, almost every pipe I've ever owned has been illegal regardless of country I've been in. I always bought knowing I'd have to change over when inspections were due. Only one I ever got away with was the Hyper slip-on which I later found out was one of the rare legal pipes anyway.

I always wonder why this issue causes so much discussion in Singapore for Ducati...think it's because of the concentration of termis. For other brands people buy from one of 10 or 20 pipe selections (many Harley riders don't buy screaming eagles for example) - whereas for Ducati we all buy termis cause cream goes with strawberries.

Lots of the guys on here got good advice, throttle off when you see LTA, don't rev it too hard where you live etc. etc. Think that's the best advice until a miracle occurs and the LTA start certifying race pipes.

Have not found you a bike yet....but i'm away at moment, back next week...hopefully we find you something good then if you've not already.

...too many to list

For the sudden increase amount of ducs on the road... higher chances of ppl getting caught using unapproved termis. There's bound to have "bad eggs" among ducs population to "spoilt market".They took for granted given the impression that TP will "close one eye" just because of the branding. There's nothing much to be done unless minerva get the termis certified by LTA and to "Re-educate" the present population.I ride my duc daily and aware of the present situation,so just swop back to stock and be good for the time moment.

ok this is really bad... i got stop by LTA again last night and as usual they wan to check on my slip on.. luckily i have put back my DB and i told them i got summon just only last week. I didnt get anytime to go fix those stuff that being summon.. It was just a short chat and he let me go this time. So guys pls be careful while u r on the road..

LTA also stop a car infront of me (by another LTA officer) for the solar film.. i think too dark.. they damn on now.. so dont speed, keep ur eyes big big..

I agree with you that the problem wont be solved.

My limited experience with street legal pipes was on my last alfa romeo, when i purchased street legal SuperSprint exhaust end cans. The cans came with TUV cert that have been approved by LTA, and I have to be registered with LTA, after installing must go inspection before LTA give me the approval. Some time later when I sold my end-cans, the new buyer must register the same process as me and go for inspection as well before he got the approval.

So if we have already bought race Termis, i dun see how we can ever get them certified for street use.

What Minerva can do is to get street legal termis approved, and we would have to change to the new street legals to be on the right side of the law.

Hi All,

Given the rather good response from you all, please note that the forum discussion planned WILL go ahead as planned. So see you there are 3pm on Saturday.

Some of you have already sent back comments as you cannot make it and for those I will tabulate your input to share with those present. If anyone else would like to comment but cannot make it, please send me your comment before end of Thursday.

There will be light refreshments and snacks available courtesy of Minerva.

Many thanks and kind regards

FYI,

For exhaust approvals:

- Exhaust product itself and factory booklet and Distributor stamp sample.

- Official Certs/reports for DB and Emission by verified Testers

- Exhaust Schematic

- Submission of above to LTA for approval.

- LTA send confirmation letter of approval to Exhaust Distributor.

- Relevant information of exhaust is onpass to all Inspection centers.

++++

Not sure if this process had been changed...presentation of bike with exhaust not necessary...

... there is street legal...Akrapovic, LeoVince, Arrow, GPR....etc etc for ducati.....

Believe we all have a choice of buying something legal........

Wow!! How long did you take to write this essay?? OMG I took 15mins to read and digest everything

This is going to be very frustrating. As someone said, paying so much for a Termi and yet risky being fined everytime the bike is on the road is just not logical ..

Totally agree with the "self-discipline" that we all should exercise. I think most riders like us do practise that. But I guess even if you don't rev your bike, it's already loud enough to attract the LTA pple. And it'll be way too late when you have spotted them

You know, I notice, the funny thing is that smaller bikes tend to be the irritants. Those 2-strokers and cubs with bloody irritating and loud pipes like to rev like nobody's business, announcing to the world how sucky their tiny bikes sound.

And BTW don't worry too much about finding me a bike. I'm not in a big hurry now. It's really nice to know that you are keeping that on your mind :) Thanks bro!

BTW I've plucked out the battery from my Sportster for the time being .. not gonna ride it for sometime .. until this "hype" dies down .... Hell, I'm even looking for stock exhausts now to put back on the Sportster ....

Yah there are always other brands but without a Termi, it just feels weird ... maybe the closest match will be Arrow? IMO, GPR would be my last choice ...
