Hi guys, just to share...

I installed my pressure plate and open clutch cover last week on my HMS. Never been a DIY guy, not even engine oil, but after seeing the guide from http://www.ducati.ms/forums/80-hall-wisdom/44866-dry-clutch-pressure-plate-open-cover-installation-guide.html, I thought why not?

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb122/backmarker_2007/Bike%20Pics/ducati.jpg

I got impatient and didn't want to wait for shipment so I got some Rizomas locally. Gave the hyper 2 hours to cool down, but it was far from cool when I started opening it up. Struggled to remove the damn tight bolts but managed to eventually. And then the big problem I had, I could not hammer out the control pin/push rod out form the old pressure plate. I tried for an hour and still nope...

Gave up and brought the old and new pressure plate to my favourite mech. Knock, knock, knock, and out it went. Just three knocks. Didn't know where to hide my face...hahah. Went home and started installing the new plate, struggled again to put the spring/bolt/cap and I had to really push the spring in to be able to turn the bolt in. Then finished up the rest. I almost didn't dare to fire it up......

*clack clack clack* followed by the *wump wump wump* of the exhaust, and the tambourine-like sound when clutched in... And the visual of it... :lovestruck: Hahaha. Love it. Thanks to Diruiz for answering some of my queries. Some pics attached...

I wish I did too but I don't have one. Hopefully the bolts stay in place...

@Fad..... nice job!!! :)

Thanks bro...

Thanks for the heads up. Didnt come across this in my research, forgot the first plate would be exposed with the rizoma star. Guess i'll have to really keep it out from the rain then. Any other ways to remedy?

yes u will have carpark problems... unless u wanna "go-staan" in... Mine is done at Sengkwang... Stainless steel, at the fork clamps/handle at the centre. It's the slim kind... doesn't block e view. Therefore I recommend u change to the slim kind... instead of changing location. Maybe u can even use back the same bracket

Thks for the feedback!

Decided to change to the slim iu instead of changing location... Dun wanna make my life difficult...

Appreciate it!

mine is fat type IU in rear seat 1098

in HDB carpark and private car parks got no problems at all.

ERP no problem at all if im riding alone.. but with pillion it CANNOT detect. with the pillion seat and no pillion also CANNOT detect.

i got one notice from LTA to go for inspection after the gantry didnt detect my IU, got off the hook when i offered to pay the fine. they were reasonable when i explained to them.

Thks for the feedback too!

Decided to change to the slim iu using back the original bracket... Dun really wanna try putting it in the rear seat as i do pillion sometimes...

Appreciate it!

Guys, need some advises (especially from those who ride their duke daily) on the erp iu unit location. Currently itz fixed at the handlebar but blocking part of the instrument display which I find it annoying. Where else can I fix it? Minerva Mary said most people fixed it in the rear seat compartment n got no issues on it. But I m worried abt some carpark entrance especially if ur home is equipped with gantry style.

Mine is the fat type iu n on a 1098s.

Any advises or feedbacks r appreciated.

Thank u!

Can't carry a pillion if you do that. : )

Thanks for the detailed answer :) Will do the basic adjustments first and see how that goes first. Currently, the suspension feels a little harsh, especially over bumpy roads.

Will probably drop by Bikelab this Sat for them to take a look at my bike

No worries. I'd suggest that you give Joshua a call first. I may be heading there this sat late am as well.
