Hi there. I've been eyeing a particular hypermotard and would really like to get some advice.

 

Does mileage really play a huge part if the bike has been properly cared for? The one I asked about had 57k kms on the odo, and the shop said it had the service history. Didn't see it cause I had to rush off somewhere. But I'll be going back to view the bike soon. Anyways, the asking price is $17.5k and it's a '08 bike. On one hand, it's one of the higher mileage ducatis I've seen, but on the other, it seems to be a reliable bike, hitting close to 60k km. So I'm kinda lost on what to do. It may seem like a stupid question, but quite a few of my friends I've talked to seem to think the lower the mileage the better, and a few others say that the mileage and asking price seems reasonable.

 

Would love to get some input on this.. Thanks in advance.

It's probably the ONLY bike which you can enjoy on the streets and really give other sports bikes a run for their money at trackdays and probably the only bike which you can ride UP to sepang, thrash it at a trackday and ride back. The problematic bikes are due to problematic owners who don't service it as often as recommended. Forget the 2010 R1. I say this primarily because of its weight and the faggy headlights.

my recommendation is to buy carbon fibre from overseas shops and ship it back yourself. Never buy from local dealers, even brands like the one mentioned. Always go with shift-tech, I've dealt with him personally and his carbon parts are way better than anything out there with exception of tamburini.
