i am just curious is open clutch legal? for wat i know 1098 stock is dry clutch that create the 'ice cream' sound... so if it is legal LTA shouldnt fine us...

"By right yes" it all boils down to individual.

well brandon singapore is a 'fine' city.. everything should be 'fine' just that how the LTA look into this matter.. just now for 1 moment termi is legal, for 1 moment termi is not legal..

dont be surprise event there is no issue on the dry clutch but they see rider install those clear clutch case they might consider it as not legal... hahaha..

There is someone out there for me

I know there is someone out there

I know she is waiting so patiently yeah

Can you tell me her name?

(Somebody tell me her name)

This life-long search is gonna drive me insane

How does she laugh?

How does she cry?

What's the color of her eyes?

Does she even realize I'm here?

Where is she? Where is she? Where is she?

Where is this beautiful girl?Who is she? Who is she?

Who is gonna complete my world?

Any idea how much are STM cltch plates? i installed the whole set of STM Evolusione clutch on my 1098s in January. Im quite surprised they stated slipping even though the bike is seldom ridden.

Could it be due to the open clutch cover thats causing debris or rust inside?

apparently, i am on my 2nd set of stm clutch plates and those buggers are not lasting. it also plays a part on how you handle your clutch.

gonna send my 1098s to replace the stm clutch plates soon. am still thinking to go back to oem or another brand of slipper clutch.

Hi Happyjunz, if I may enquire, are you using the stock basket or the stm basket? Do you ride on the street more often than at the track and how many miles are you averaging on a set of plates?

I've tried EVR, DP and DucaBike (4 and 6 spring). The STM has the best feel in my opinion. If you do ride on the street often I believe that the plates should last you a minimum of 5-7k km if you are on a the evoluzione slipper.

Open clutch is legal BUT... someday, some 'expert' at LTA might say that changing to an open clutch will cause issues with the brakes of the motorcycle. I point you to the article written by an 'expert' in October 2012 which led to articles such as:this

nd_danial, check the friction plates in between the clutch plates. They might be well worn. I've seen cases where the clutch plates were changed but the friction plates were re-used.

hi b3nn, it is the stm basket (red colour), basically the entire stm evo slipper clutch. i do ride more often on the street and i guess the avg distance i had with these plates was ard 5-6k. i always thought the plates could last me longer like 10k or something.

my first was installed in minerva and the mechanic installed the plates wrongly and it lasted me about 2-3k before it was worn out. i had my second set bought and installed at hkl bukit merah by ah siong (v nice fellow), and i think it was around 400+, i couldn't remember the exact figure.

anyway, what's the avg lifespan of the normal ducati clutch plates?

most likely, i will still be getting the stm plates since no others could fit into the 48t stm evo slipper clutch.

thanks for the reply and btw do minerva sells these stm plates?

Latest update is better stay as stock as possible for those riding ur red very frequently. Prices for fine has increase. Riding doesn't seem as enjoyable compare to the past.

Good evening fellow Ducati riders, have some questions hope any seasoned Ducati riders may help me.

I just purchased a Ducati Street Fighter 1098. Is the termi exhaust approved yet on this model ? and also I would like to check is is a norm for once engaging into gear 1 and its lock and hard to kick it to neutral gear. While riding when approaching a traffic light, i need to free wheel it to neutral gear before coming to a stop. I cant stopped the bike at the traffic light and kick it to neutral gear. Is it a Norm for Ducatis?

Need helped badly..

Hi,

Sounds like you need a trip to Minerva... No it's not normal, you should never have to stamp on the lever to shift, it's a relatively easy adjustment.

On the termis, I would say no especially if you dont have the paperwork. but worth asking.

Cheers

It doesn't matter what the question is, the answer is more power!

Not sure abt streetfighter. But when I bought my monster, I happen to face difficulty in finding neutral too. But after I change eo everything is smooth and engaging neutral is more easier.

Check your clutch salve (re-bleed), clutch plate (jet air to blow out dirt, dust, sand, or change plate), do a EO change hopefully this can rectify the issue.

Common Ducati Problem

Not being able to engage neutral is due to the clutch not fully disengaging when you pull the clutch lever.

1. Are u using the 30mm clutch slave with the stock clutch master? This combination reduces the travel of the clutch pressure plate and prevents complete disengagement. You can try to adjust the clutch lever further from the grips to increase the travel of the lever thus i turn increaseing the travel of the clutch pressure plate when lever is pulled fully.

2. Leaking clutch slave. Tell tale sign is a decreasing fluid level in the clutch resevoir or fuild leaking from the sprocket area. Change to a new clutch slave cyclinder or send the unit for a seal recond.

now you're talking sense, if you are having a 48T then 5k is way way too generous. Mine gets changed every 1k. I suggest you get another slipper for your you on the street. An Evoluzione 12T will do, use OEM plates. They will last twice as long.
