Hey guys just wondering do you have this problem? I was riding on a hot weather and road was dry. I then encountered a puddle of water infront of me and had to ride over it. The water splashed up and landed on the hot engine and exhaust and turned into hot boiling water. As the bike was travelling at least 60km/h the wind blew the water off the engine and onto my leg. Its incredibly painful as the water is boiling hot. Anyone have this problem?

And also, would k&n filter for phantom be feasible? Or small bbikes like phantom install k&n is useless? Thanks

anyone here changed your honda phantom rear rim? Will it help to reduce fc and help to increase pickup?

U can change ur sprocket sizes to play ard wif the gearing. Smaller rear sprocket to reduce rpm at high speed (slower pickup) or larger rear sprocket for faster pickup (high rpms at high speed)

Yup cux d engine is exposed and very hot. Its quite normal. Wear long pants lar.

K&n wont make much difference on this bike. Plus its not cheap either. Stock filter less than $20 n change every 10k km more economical.

Thanks man. Anyway sorry to bomb another question. How do you judge how much petrol u have left when u cant see petrol without shaking the tank? For now when i shake the bike i can see the petrol. At this level when i go top to full its around 5-6L topup. Can i safely say now i only left 4L+?

Once hit reserve, u shud hv abt 2L, so u can travel maybe abt 60-70km. Can go fill up then.

Reserve is when the fuel gauge light comes on?

Hi all, just gotten myself a phantom and been reading in the forum on technical stuff. But I have a question on changing engine oil do I change the whole thing meaning to say removing the bolt and let it flow down or just top up will do when changing engine oil?

I also went to planet to have a check but I also notice rattling sound when I am on 4-6 gear is this a major issue?

Thanks.

for changing EO, usually bike shop will drain everything out (there might be metal scraps inside so its better to drain it out completely), only do top up when u do checks on the dip stick.

EO is not environmental friendly so its better to do it at bike shop.

You gotta find out where exactly the rattling sound comes from....chain? engine?

If its not broken, dont fix it. :) basically if no weird noise or leaks, just carry on with ur usual servicing la.

haha alright then...next up is air filter + spark plug change nia..

Hi bros, got a question. I went to ah koon and asked about open pod air filter. He said don't need fix that, but try taking out the standard air filter and ride without any air filter. I wonder, is that safe/good? From my knowledge, doing that may make the carburetor dirty.

Please dont ride without air filter! Not only ur carb dirty but its nt good for ur engine especially if something big gets sucked in. I used to use open pod on my phantom. Nt easy process to get the tuning right. Keep on hving to disassemble d carb to chg d jettings. End up FC oso go up. And nt much performance gain in fact. Only thing is intake sound nicer and throaty. But the cons too many la.

if a mechanic do this on my bike...he will be on my black list...

absolutely very Very bad practice...you are going to screw up your carb and cylinder wall, valve clogging up..

and will have isuue with high fuel consumption...tough time to get tuning correct...

if its worth a fewdays of "high" performace...do it. or else keep away...keep out..dont do it...screw up reccomendation IMHO.

Exactly. Its insane to tell you not to use any air filter. The filter is there for a purpose - to keep dust and dirt of of your carb and engine

A few ways.

0. Ah Pek told me to knock the tank and listen if got echo. :giddy:

1. Shake the bike left and right while straddling it. Got sound means fuel left only 3-4 liters, that's why got space for the petrol to slosh around inside.

2. Open the fuel cap. If can see means got at least 8 liters. If can see when shaking the bike, means 5-6 liters.

3. Go by mileage. Phantoms usually can travel 35-40km/L Bike has a 11.2 L Stock tank. Most will run into the reserve around 350km after a full tank. When you want to refill? You do the maths.

Reserve is when the fuel gauge light comes on?

Depends on your Phantom also. Older models with the ignition key hole key on the left side got no lights.

The bike just splutters and stalls while riding and you have to turn on a "Res" tap to go to reserve tank.

Guys, coming back from work today my bike refused to change gears (lucky I was nearing home). Upon checking, the kick lever to change the gear has come loose and the 2 screws securing it has come loose. I tried tightening both screws but no use. Anyone can help give me a solution besides getting it towed to the shop?

Cheers,

Mark

Since your reaching near your home, why not park your bike somewhere, go home, bring some wrench and stuffs try tighten it back? May need to Locktite your bolts, do this at a bike shop, unless you have one bottle of it.

Any photo of it?

Hard to imagine.

You can try using securing it with some heavy duty cable ties.

Ride it to the nearest bike shop. Avoid going on expressway.

Thanks guys, I managed to tighten the back nut a little but the front still quite loose. If I tighten the back nut too much, I am not able to change gear, so I had to loosen it a bit. I hope it will hold until I ride to Ah Koon tomorrow to get it fixed. Sorry did not take photos, but maybe will try to do so tomorrow if I can remember.

Hi bros, recently my signals all went out at the same time, both front and back.... can I deduce that this is either a signal fuse or signal relay problem? I traced the wires from the battery but I can't seem to find them. Any kind bros can advise me where I should be looking? Or just bring to mechanic? I'm hesitant to ride without signal lights to the workshop though as I'm a newbie rider...

open up the right side chrome cover (below tank one) and u can see a relay. its the signal relay. can try knock knock abit to see if it will work. either that or all ur signal bulbs blow (quite unlikely all at the same time la). so best oso if u open up the signals and see if ur bulbs blow alr. :)
