Hi,

Is there any motoshop selling 2nd hand battery for TA200? I am going to trade in my TA200 end of this month but now suay suay the battery choose to die now. Battery charge will be completely gone overnight and I have to push start every morning. I need to find a battery that can last for one month, at least until i trade in the bike.

Thanks!!

one more q about battery - how long the battery usually lasts in phantom? I remember changing mine about 6 months ago and it suddenly died on me today, no lights, cannot start. had to push-start it..

The usual battery can last about 1 years 6 months to 2 years.

From your description, if you have just changed your battery about 6 months ago, it will be most likely that your motorcycle is not charging, your battery has completely discharged and cannot hold it's charge anymore, even if you bring it to a shop to have it recharged.

As for getting a 2nd-hand battery, just go around motorcycle repair shops to ask around.

1) Firstly, nt pro, just past experiences.

2) Loud burst meaning "POP"?

- Could be backfiring from exhaust?

- Could be gearbox?

Too vague to pinpoint for diagnose.

3) Check clutch line, lub if necessary

- Check clutch free play at lever and puller

- When was the last time clutch plates changed?

- When was the last time EO changed?

4) Bike died while on idle or moving off?

Died:

- Battery

- Alternator

- Rectifier

- Coil

- Plug

Move off:

- Throttle line

- Carb Air/Fuel ratio

5) Lastly, there's a Newbie section for you to post in.

Is the sound like the "POP!" sound of the starter's pistol in the 100m race?

If it is most likely it is backfiring, meaning there is an inbalance in the fuel to air ratio, causing a misfire, which will also explain why the engine dies when you throttle up.

As for neutral gear, first check the free play in the clutch handle lever. Adjust it and see it it helps.

If it doesn't, it could be the type of engine oil.

Lastly, it could be the bolt holding the lever to the clutch lever (foot one) is loose. One of our forum members tried the first 2 possible solutions and found that it don't help and went to a bike motor shop to have it looked at and found that out.

My guess is that your bike's fuel to air ratio is tuned too rich, causing misfire when you throttle up.

When you leave the bike untouch for some time, (eg: A few days) petrol pools in the carb, that's why it is advisable to shut off the petrol flow using the fuel c0ck when parking over the weekends.

Since the level of petrol in your carb is already high, and your seting is very rich, when you start the engine, there is plenty of petrol coming from the ready flow of petrol in the carb, in fact too much than necessary and when you throttle, even more petrol goes in, this floods the carb with so much petrol that there is not enough air to support combustion hence the engine stalls.

Come to think of it, backfire can also be caused by too lean a fuel and air mixture.

But my guess is that it's too rich.

If you want to see if your bike is running to rich or too lean, take out the spark plug and see if it is black, brown or white.

Black = Too rich. Petrol not burning properly and collects as soot.

Brown = Perfect

White = Too lean a mix, every last bit of petro is burn and might over heat your engine in the long run.

Should i just tow and scrap?

I left my bike untouched for a few weeks, when i tried to estart it, the starting sound was different, short and soft ticks, and after a few times of depressing the estart, there was no more sound at all. The headlight and warning lights are working, neutral gear show ignition switch is on too. Check spark plug, doesn't seem to be broken/stolen.

After booking out a week later. I pushed start in gear 1. Immediately, I decided to ride out to charge batt(bad decision of riding out). Engine weak n died just as i turn out into street. After that moment, the wheels seem like they are on brakes, damn difficult to push, end up left at the nearest parking spot blocks away from my home. The estart button gave tick tick sound when i depress it, but after a few tries, no more sound too.

Any idea what made the wheels get braked? And what about starting the engine and unable to maintain it?

I live in Yishun block 200 +, if any kind soul is willing to take a look and offer advice, coffeeshop dinner is in place.

When I checked my 2 stroke phantom's transmission oil today I can see tt its white. Havent drained it out totally yet. What could be the cause? its unlikely to be my coolant leaking cuz my bike seems to have no overheating problem. Possible cause is water mixing with the oil but is it a big problem?

opinions.. problems could be something else:

1. your battery died. or maybe too weak thats why cant hold charge.

2. try push start in 4th gear.. a slow jog with a sudden drop of clutch about 5 meters later gets me started easier.. 1st gear has a lot of drag.

2. pump your brake pedal or brake lever a few times to see if it was stuck and will it go away? a variety of reasons but it could be just inability to return the brake pads back to position or brake wear. check your brake fluids under right side chrome cover as well.

operate a vehicle in a way that you benefit other road users pls - and meanwhile, stop whining! be responsible and be safe.

air.jpgyesterday while cleaning my bike, i noticed that there is this small reservior of oil at the air filter compartment. Could fellow riders give a clue what this oil reservior is used for? also besides the oil reservior, there is this small tube also. Anyone can advise what is this?

this is eo...

for environmental reason...the eo expelled from your engine due to high operating pressure..

in older bikes..the expelled eo is directly to the atmosphere...

clean it up ..nothing serious..check your eo level. overfilled eo will have this conditions..resulting in a poorer performance all round..as well as dirty air filter.

Thanks!

I was told by the mechanic to top up 1.5 litres of EO, is this normal? SO far I have changed EO 3 times.

Nope. Stick to 1L. Excess EO will increase d crankcase pressure. Nt good for the engine.

manual from honda clearly states 1.0L. i tink why they put more is to compensate for the engine burning off some engine oil, which is normal for phantom. just fill 1L, then check frequently and top-up as required.

NOT by putting in 1.5L so that by the time u change oil, still got 1L. thats just plain lazy and ignorant attitude.

1.5L is too much. So much oil will make it difficult for your bike's engine to turn, causing sluggish performance.
